Great Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this sub almost a year ago and the lows for my surround sound are very good. For 100 Watts and the cheap price this sub is the best value in my opinion for someone not wanting to spend several hundreds of dollars. I believe you get what you pay for in most audio equipment and this item surpassed my expectations. For a house shaking sub for the more intense movie-goer i would suggest spending more $$.

Not good for music-average performance.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This woofer is OK for movies and Tv shows but is hopeless for music. It lacks the required power for music. Increase volume above 50% and it starts distorting heavily and also produces boomy sound. Also the frequency response is not deep as mentioned- sounds similar to the cheap 10$ creative comp woofer- only louder. If you want a woofer for music with decent power avoid this. Manual mentions 50 W RMS with 10% THD- so expect 30W of decent power.

Great Subwoofer for the money!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this sub since 2017 and it's still flawless. I love the fact that it's adjustable with the knob on the back panel, it has a passive wiring option or you can plug it in directly to the sub-out on the receiver. It's only 100 watts but it packs a serious punch!

Huge Disappointment!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a yamaha surround system in my room. I bought it 4 years ago. I have a 6inch 60 watt sub that sounds awesome. Sounds like a 100 watt sub and is rich with clean clear bass. I thought that yamaha was one of the best because of the subs i have heard from them. But my 6inch sub just didn't output enough power at high volumes even though it sounded great at lower volumes. So when i saw this huge sub online from yamaha i thought to myself that it would be rich and deep in bass to make up for it's low power consumption. Boy was i wrong. This subwoofer sounds like crawp and sounds more forceful than rich. It probably could have been fixed with a frequency knob but that wasn't there either. Long story short i returned this sub the very next day because i need quality not just power. Yes it has some power but just doesn't sound good.

Buy something better if you can afford it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this sub because I was trying to save some cash and I was already going over my budget with my new 46" LCD and other home theater components. I have known Yamaha to be a good brand in the past, so I figured I would give it a try......but you get what you pay for. This sub really struggles with the lower, deeper bass, which is really what I was wanting for my home theater. At higher volumes it quickly distorts. If the volume is kept lower and you want a bit more full sound to support your Highs and mids at a very low cost, then try this. If you can spring the extra cash for something better do it. Luckily for me the Klipsch 10" went on sell the next day, and I upgraded to that for only a $100 more. I am soooo much happier, and so is my wife and she usually could care less about audio. I should have expected this performance for the price, but I was hopeful.
