I'm extremely impressed with this little guy. I use it in the bedroom with a subwoofer attached (Polk PSW108) and it sounds awesome. Even without the attached subwoofer, this can put out some decent bass for a soundbar. Since I cut the cable cord, I use it with an Amazon Fire TV which is connected via hdmi to the soundbar and then the HDMI ARC connected to the TV.
It's important to note that there was a lip sync issue at first but it turns out that it was the AFTV. All I had to do was go into settings and change the "automatic detect Dolby Digital + to just "Dolby Digital" and everything worked fine.
You really can't beat this soundbar for the price.

I didn't want a system that had a bunch of speakers and a speaker on the floor. I also didn't want to spend over $200. Went on line and looked up reviews for soundbars and the Yamaha kept coming up. Best Buy had it on sale for $179, and I went for it. It's perfect for what I wanted. One bar with excellent sound, and plenty of bass. Couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. Definite upgrade from the television speakers.

Have been looking to upgrade the sound on my 55-inch Sony HD LCD. It's a few years old and is still an excellent TV. Decided to purchase this Yamaha soundbar as the company makes well respected audio equipment. The sound is significantly better than the TV itself, as expected. I particularly like the Clear Voice capability as that was one of the annoying things about the TV, I had to crank up the sound way too much in order to hear the voices. The setup was simple and I was able to get the volume control on the cable company remote to work with the soundbar. I wasn't sure that would work as the TV does not have an HDMI/ARC connection. I used both the HDMI and the digital optical cable and that allowed the connection to the remote.
The sound is very good especially when playing Blue-ray movies. I like the integrated sub-woofer as I don't need to have an extra box sitting in the family room. That, however, is the reason I didn't go to five stars. The deepest base sounds are a little boomy when the subwoofer setting is above neutral. If set below neutral then I don't get enough bass. You can't expect everything from such a small unit and such a low price.Great value for the money. You may want to spend a bit more if you want the best sound quality.

This is the best choice if you're cost-conscious and don't have the space or don't want to fool with a separate subwoofer. The added bass is quite noticeable compared with other soundbars that don't have the integrated sub. It's plug and play. Drawbacks are the dust-attracting cover (like many soundbars) -- I prefer the metal mesh. I'll also say that dialogue is better with this Yamaha than with the others I tried. In the end, I went with a soundbar with a separate subwoofer (the Vizio with the flat sub that I can tuck behind my HDTV) because I just wanted more bass. But this Yamaha is definitely worth a shot. YMMV as with all things.

I'm beyond impressed. I have a few sound bars in my home from Polk to Sonos but I purchased this one for the bedroom. The sound is amazing I love the fact that it has subwoofers built in I can't even imagine what it will sound like with an external sub which can be added if you like.

This sound bar is one of the best I've heard for the money. It works great without an external subwoofer which can be added later if needed. The downloadable app from Yamaha is a plus if you want to tailor the sound to your liking. Highly satisfied with my purchase!

It's a nice simple solution if your not satisfied with regular TV speakers . It has plenty of different options to hook it up. I find that you have to turn it up kind of loud though in order to hear mids. Bass and highs are good even for not having a separate sub. There is a port to hook one up though.

Exponentially better than TV speakers. Purchased this one due to built-in sub-woofers. If you aren't an audio aficionado and don't want a remote or satellite sub, this item will work fine. Is it better than cheaper 2.1 soundbars? You decide what will work best for you! Sleek design & nests in front of my Vizio 55" TV. Oh yeah, yet another remote control.

This Yamaha Yas -106 soundbar has all the features I wanted and was looking for. I especially like the ARC HDMI plug in so that I can use 1 remote to control the sound bar volume up or down and the TV. You can turn the soundbar and TV off and on with the TV remote. Also has a plug in for an external woofer.

Powerful crisp clear home theater quality sound. Decodes Dolby Digital, DTS and converts stereo sound into surround using Dolby Pro Logic II. I need quality audio to match my Quality picture and this sound bar performs. Forget the Samsung, LG, and Vizio soundbars those are for kids. You will get your money's worth with this Yamaha soundbar, excellent audio and all the latest input/output technology to ensure future compatibility such as HDMI with ARC and HDCP2.2
