I did lots of research before finalizing my purchase. I must say before this Yamaha I had a really expensive Bose home theater that was 1500.00. Hands down this Yamaha blows that Bose away by miles and miles. Movies, music, and especially gaming sound rich and incredible and the piece of mind knowing I have a 4 year Geek Squad protection plan is the icing on the cake! I originally looked at Sony, Klipsch, Denon, and Sonos which were out of my price range seeing I already spent 1500 on the Bose. I can say this with certainty that my 349.00 Yamaha has replaced my Bose in the living room and the Bose sold for almost as much as I paid! Love this system and I I would have paid double for this and still would have had a better sound bar than the Sony that was 700 or 900 that was on display at Best Buy. Do yourself a favor if your contemplating getting a home theater of any kind for the value it is much better than a 1500.00 system and I highly recommend this or any Yamaha for that matter. Reason I went back to Yamaha is because back in 2008 I had bought a Yamaha system with separate components, speakers and Subs which cost around 1500.00 unfortunately my apartment was broken into and it was stolen and unfortunately for me I didn't have renters insurance, case in point I have a house now and this system sounds amazing. I am still in disbelief that I only paid 460 with taxes and a 4 year protection plan. Do yourself a favor don't think twice about this!

I absolutely love this thing! I had no idea what I was missing, guess I had forgotten what real sound is like. Super easy to set up, and the subwoofer is connected by Bluetooth so it can basically be put anywhere. I love the pass-through feature, that allows your TV remote signal to pass through the speaker to your TV so you can still use it. You can also program your TV remote to turn it off and on and increase decrease volume. It says there is an app on your phone that you can control it with, I only got it to work once and after that it didn't recognize it. Not an issue for me, since you can either use the remote that comes with it or your TV remote. Great Sound, you won't be disappointed for the price.

Purchased this soundbar for my bedroom and I'm completely satisfied with this purchase. This soundbar far exceeded my expectations. It sounds so good that I wouldn't hesitate to use it in my media room. The setup was easy just one cord attaches to the TV a optical cable which is included. The subwoofer is wireless and is already synced with the soundbar right out of the box. Your not gonna find a better soundbar in this price range.

Best 2.1 Sound System you can buy

So I purchased this sound bar after my Sasmung J450 System crapped out (it started muting itself constantly) and resetting it or updating firmware didn't help. Purchased this soundbar based on reviews(Chet almost have it 5 stars) and got it via open box here on best buy for a pretty good price. I use this sound bar for my PS4 Pro and it sounds amazing for a 200 watt system. The 7.1 virtual surround sound via Dolby Pro Logic sounds really good and although it's not going to beat a 7.1 receiver/speaker setup it does a great job at expanding the sound stage and spreading it around the room. It supports DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1 as well which sound great for blue rays. The sound quality of this sound bar is incredible and the bass isn't too punchy which may be good and bad depending on your bass preferences but for me it sounds great for lows. It has no distortion when turned up to max(max is 50) but I use it at 25. Additionally, the soundbar has a learn feature that allows you to program it so that you can use your tv remote for powering on/off, raising/lowering volume, and muting. This soundbar is worth it just for that feature alone because it allows you to use just one remote to operate it which is especially important considering it has no HDMI in/out which is the only "CON" I would give this soundbar but otherwise the sound quality/bass is superb and the feature set is great!

Had previously been using a nice three-speaker setup with Tuner, but it was all jammed into an inset in the living room. In an effort to save space, we moved to this, which seemed to get really good reviews. For the money, this was a great purchase. I tested probably 20-30 soundbars before purchasing this, and it easily contended with most higher-priced models in the $600-$700 range. While I did really like some of the high-end models that were $1,200 and up, it came down to value for me, and 4x the price for moderately better sound quality just didn't add up in my mind. If you're looking for a solid purchase at a great price... this is it. One con (and it's minor) is the volume level indicator - it's just a series of indicator lights in the center of the bar that increase left to right. I'm used to seeing numbers, so it took some initial adjustment on my part when turning the sound bar on each time.

Read many reviews online. Many sites rated this system number 1 overall. Visited store several times to listen to demo units. Unfortunately Yamaha was not set up for demo. Decision was between this unit and a Samsung 3.1 unit. Bought the Yamaha because of overall ratings and B. B. 'S 15 day return policy. Kept the Yamaha. Very good sound. Easy one cable hook up. Paired easily with my Sony tv remote. Easy Bluetooth connection with my IPhone. Liked Samsung display of function on soundbar verse lights on Yamaha. Yamaha app works well. No app for IPhone from Samsung. Saved $100.00 on sale. If you need greater sound, Samsung has 100+ more watts. Yamaha system working fine in a 14' x 24' room.

Sounds good as long as the speakers are at ear level (I originally had them lower than head height and it wasn't clear sounding) It's a huge improvement over TV speakers. Display of what features are currently being used is lacking for "uni volume", "clear voice", and "bass extension" so you can't tell what is on or off. I watch many different types of media and not all the features work well them all, so not knowing what is engaged makes it guess work. Dialog is garbled if the sub-woofer is on passed half. Even with these minor drawbacks this is a very good sounding set, which is more important for me, than having a few extra light indicators (which cannot be shut off anyhow, but do auto dim)

I reviewed sound bars for weeks leading up to my purchase. A number of sites rated this bar the best for the money in this price range for both movies and music. After having the bar for a month, I would say the sound is great. You don't realize the subwoofer is there until you watch a movie and it kicks in. Also when streaming music from Pandora it has great sound and the subwoofer adds great bass.

I spent a lot of time researching before I settled on this product, and while I'm happy overall, it did fall short of my expectations. For $400 I had anticipated life-like, room-filling sound. By itself it doesn't quite get there. You will need to play with the options and dial-it-in to your liking. For me, I like the Surround setting coupled with the Clear Voice option. After that you'll want to select the subwoofer volume that works best for you. The overall build of this unit is very good. It looks nice under the TV and I like that the indicator lights fade shortly after they are used. The subwoofer performance is impressive, and it's nice that you can control its volume level separately. I'll admit that the more I listen to it, the more I like it. It's also super easy to program your TV or Cable Box remotes to control the Power, Volume and Mute functions on your sound bar.

The yamaha yas-203 is decent for the price. I have a vizio 3821 and the yamaha. Overall the sound of the yamaha is better and the bass is more subtle (in a good way). The vizio bass is overpowering at some points in normal TV shows. The features of both systems are comparable, but the remote sending feature was a nice extra on the yamaha. However, I returned the yamaha and kept the vizio, because even though the yamaha is a better soundbar it wasn't worth an extra $250 in my opinion. If it was at the $250 to $300 price point I would have given this unit 5 stars.

Am a profesional musician so I can listen very well sounds details. The Yamaha yas 203 has the better subwoofer of all sound bar subwoofer for 500 dollars, the bass is very clear and real feel, the only problem is the sound bar doesn't have twitters so is missed high sounds, but the remote control is amazing, you can control all settings with the Yamaha app, and the sound bar looks very strong and reliable. So if you love low sounds you have to pick this sound bar 100%. But if you are going to watch TV shows you will feel disappointed with the high sounds, that's the only think why I didn't give 5 stars. I read a lot of reviews before buying this sound bar specifically cnet reviews, so I picked this one. I recommend for 500 price the jbl sb 400, it has good lows(never like yamaha), it has twitters, I think 3 or 4 hdmi input and output, plus 3.5 input. But I read as well a lot of reviews and it looks like you have to buy a warranty protection. I hope this help people like me looking for good product and affordable price.

Not bad, but I bought the bose acoustimass 300 too in a shootout. The Yamaha sounded less dynamic and more compressed in comparison. It sounded very 2D head to head with the Bose. Lacked enough wattage for my big room. You might like it if you don't vouch for the Bose, ignorance could be bliss!

Good sound bar, for the money. If your looking for super massive sound, it's not going to be the fullest, BUT it's definitely a great sounding one! For my medium size living room it's more than enough to fill the room with quality sound, and the subwoofer definitely adds great fullness.

This was well worth the $ spent. Living in an apartment, didn't want to splurge too much on a bigger system. This is more than enough to rattle the walls! Quick, easy setup & it does all I need it to. No HDMI input is a bit of a downer, but connecting all the devices to my TV then the speaker bar to the TV via coaxial cable does the trick just fine. Highly recommended.

So I bought this based on lots of reviews and also the high ratings on CNET.com that recommended this soundbar for this price range! Luckily the price was $100 off when I was looking for Xmas so it was the perfect scenario when I needed it and the price was just right. The sub is very good and handles bass very well... its not BOOMY though which is good and bad in a way. the reason being is that the sub only does a certain frequency of hertz for the bass so anything lower than its rated it just won't do or sound faint. But not much stuff has very low booms on TV now days but if I wanted the full boom and etc then I would have gone back to my original surround system. Im looking for great quality sound and great bass for a small price so Im not gonna complain at all especially since the sub is wireless.

This sound bar was for a secondary TV in our living room.( Our main viewing area downstairs has a full 7.1 set up ) It was to create better sound for the TV it self and to stream some music. It does both well. The sound is good for TV shows and music. Set up was easy. Looks good and does the job.

While we would have loved a custom sound system, we were both surprised by the quality of sound this system produces. We always had to crank up the volume on the flat screen to hear anything, but this is such a robust sound, we almost use the bluetooth more for music than we use for watching tv. I would definitely recommend.

After doing a lot of research went with the Yamaha YAS203. It sounds great. You don't have to turn the sound very loud on the system to be able to hear the words that they are saying on TV. Easy to hook up. Very happy with this purchase.

No tinniness, great sound, excellent price. I looked at many reviews before buying this sound bar. It was the clear winner for sound quality. The only downside is that it has no HDMI outputs or wifi, but it does have bluetooth and a digital/optical connection to our TV.
