Customers frequently mention the excellent sound quality and ease of use of the 200W 2.0-Ch. Stereo Receiver. Many also appreciate its powerful output and reasonable price. However, some customers point out the lack of a phono preamp and less-than-ideal speaker wire connection terminals as drawbacks. The receiver's design and setup process also receive positive feedback.

If you are looking for a good, solid, basic receiver then this Yamaha delivers! We are using it with a record player and a pair of old Sony speakers and we are very happy with the sound. Easy to use, decent power and the price was great. We are really happy with the purchase.

Receiver itself is good looking and well made. I let this receiver work with my laptop and JBL ES-20 passive speakers. Easy set up and good performance. This affordable stereo receiver should be good for stereo starters.
One shortage is it has no direct subwoofer output. But anyway, it seems that subwoofer can still connected to receiver through other ways.

This is my first stereo receiver. The simplistic design and function is the reason why I bought this receiver. I could have simply bought the insignia stereo receiver with Bluetooth instead. I could always add a Bluetooth module if I need it. I use it for FM/AM radio and use one of the RCA inputs for a laptop. Its got more than enough power for me to fill a 10 X 12 room. I can only turn up the volume to 55 since I live in apartment. The one thing I would change is if Yamaha would use speaker posts instead of the spring clips. I got this receiver on sale for 119.99. This would be the receiver to get if your on a budget.

This is a very simple stereo receiver with plenty of output power. The unit is reminiscent of the stereo receivers in the late 70's and early 80's. The scan feature is non-existent. In order to scan, the user has to repeatedly push the search button or hold the search button down. Other than the lack of a true scan feature, this receiver is a great value. I use it in my home office with a Yamaha subwoofer and satellite speakers. It shakes the house with the output power. If you're looking for a powerful unit, no frills with a low price, this is a bargain.

I had two Yamaha speakers that were hooked up to a Denon receiver. This was my system in 1988! I gave them to my daughter but she has no use for the big speakers anymore. The receiver died, so I was looking for a basic stereo receiver. This unit is perfect. Paired with my 29 year old speakers, the sound is clear, rich, with plenty of power. Tuner is also excellent, I get AM stations from 90 miles away just fine. If you want a basic stereo receiver this is it.

I did not need a surround sound set up and found this provides excellent sound with my smaller Bose speakers. The lack of a phono preamp is not surprising these days but I would have appreciated seeing that in the product description. I got an excellent preamp for less than $50 and I am now very happy.

I wanted a smaller receiver amplifier for my office and living room; I wanted quality and natural sound. This gives me both; A speakers in one room and B in the other, I have the volume I need and good tone, Easy to use, and it should give good service, knowing Yamaha.

I bought this receiver because my old Onkyo was sputtering. Had it for 30 + years. We have a backyard barbeque and we have a lot of folks by so the music has to be loud enough so that it's relevant. The system produced just what we needed; 50 watts per channel and real clarity and separation. Good receiver for the money !!

This was a gift for my parents who are over 85. Their old one had quit and this is better quality than a boom box and made it possible to connect their record player as well. The only problem we had was the remote control would not work with their CD player. Otherwise it sounded good and it was easy for me to hook up for them.

I was shopping for a receiver that was as easy to operate as a vintage receiver from the 70s. I wanted to listen to CD's or the FM radio, connected to a pair of speakers. I wanted a volume control, bass and treble without having to search through endless menus. I just wanted to push a button or turn a dial. This receiver is perfect. The remote is straight forward. It doesn't have an output for a subwoofer, but honestly I wanted to connect a pair of vintage speakers and simply enjoy the music. Yamaha did a great job and the price was just right. I just wish it came in a silver finish, but I can live with the black. Pros: Plenty of power so the sound is clear and clean. Push button bass and treble controls with LED readout. Remote control. Connections for two sets of speakers. Cons: no phono pre-amp.

I bought this receiver on July 4 because my sonos amp died. In order to use this with sonos you connect it to sonos with sonos connect. This is double wattage per channel as opposed to only 55 watts per channel with sonos amp. I'm driving 2 high end definitive technology speakers. This sounds great for my pool speakers deeper bass. I've had Yamaha before and they make decent quality devices that do hold up over time. The cost of this amp and sonos connect was almost 100.00 cheaper than buying another sonos amp.

Bought this receiver to replace an old JVC to power a Bose speaker system. The sound quality is just as good if not better than the JVC. The simplistic controls on the front panel make it easy to switch between inputs. There is an auto off feature that saves on energy costs when no input signal is detected after a certain period of time.

I replaced a receiver my father bought in Vietnam. The 4 speakers work great, so I wanted to find a receiver to utilize them. With some ingenuity, I required two cables to fit the speaker wire outputs. Works great! Does not shut off randomly as some reviews say. This was last one in store before New Years model came out. I'm pleased!
