Last receiver died. This one is a step down, but works almost as well.

It was an pen box that was $181.00 in store I was charged $319.00 for it and it was marked excellent. However, when I returned it the customer service lady told me I should of been charged $181.00 not the price I paid. It was missing the microphone. It was my first open box purchase and it put a sour taste in my mouth. It was like they were trying to get over on me.the price of the product brand new in the store was cheaper than a open box. Bad experience on the purchase. Hope the product works well.

I purchased this unit along with a Samsung NU6900 TV. I have to say I was a bit overwhelmed by the full-blown manual and what each button and dial does. I was like "where do I begin?" However, with patience I dove into the manual and learned all about this unit. I am still not finished educating myself but I'll get there. Although I have a wireless router, I connected to the internet with a cable. I never knew what was out there for internet radio and podcasts. I could play with all the settings all day. Beautiful sound with all those fun audio options. I used to think my Bose floor speakers were losing their touch, with my old receiver. Not now. Oh...the best part?: The YPAO mic that automatically adjusts each of your speakers based on your sitting location and position. Get this!

I was happy w/ RX-V671 but decided to "upgrade" to the RX-V583 for HD pass through capability & continue to be disappointed: 1. remote lost individual buttons to toggle between inputs/ you now have to toggle up/down & input surf; you might as well just get up to toggle inputs 2. can't ditch the dismal remote control because the Yamaha AV app will not find/preserve the wi-fi connection (ie you can no longer remote control receiver w/ Iphone or ipad) 3. you lose ability to listen to different inputs on Zone1 & Zone 2 simultaneously(ie 2nd room speakers) -- ie you have to listen to the same thing in both zones (not so w/ the older receivers) I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. In fact I'm very skeptical of Yamaha now as newer units are a step back in time. If you have an RX-V671 keep it. Save your money

I upgraded an older Denon AVR to the RX-V583 last weekend to support the 4K on my new Sony 4K TV I purchased from Best Buy in Feb. because Yamaha said it supported Napster and SiriusXM on their MusicCast feature. Well I got it home set it all up and no Napster or SiriusXM on the MusicCast app. Talked with Yamaha tech support and it appears that Yamaha messed up on their website and copied over the RX-V683 info on the MusicCast feature and you need to upgrade to the RX-V683 to get both services. Well to add insult to injury, I was at Best Buy yesterday to look at options and the RX-V583 is now $50 cheaper, $449.95 in the store but the 10% off special coupon was only good for a 1 time purchase so I can't use it on an upgrade to the 683 so I'm debating just returning the RX-V583 and looking at other options.
