Solid Receiver. Easy to set up. Love the wireless functionality (bought it for that reason + price point). Wish it had a built-in function on the app for XM radio, but you can just choose "Receiver" instead of "iPhone" and cast the signal that way. No problems so far.

This is a great receiver for the price. The Bluetooth works great with my iPhone and plays seemlessly with iTunes. It produces and quality sound. The wifi function is amazing and the receiver works real well with my new 4K tv. I would definitely recommend this reviewer.

I was looking to upgrade my receiver after upgrading my TV and preordering a PS4 Pro. I had looked at a few receivers and tried a couple. I didn't need anything too feature laden but I did require 4K and HDR compatibility. For the price this receiver is an excellent value. I have had Yamaha receivers for a few years now and have found them to be great sources of value and quality in general. The audio sounds great and the feature selection is excellent at this price range.
Positives
As mentioned before this receiver is compatible with 4K (Including 60hz) and HDR.
The on-screen display is transparent so it does not block out the picture.
Receivers usually have some sort of dynamic range compression for audio but is usually limited to Dolby formats. Yamaha has something called adaptive range control which I think may work with formats other than Dolby so this could be a plus if you have a stereo setup or use headphones a lot with it (I do) to distinguish soft sounds such as dialogue better.
The actual unit is fairly light and small. I remember receivers from even a couple of years ago being gigantic and heavy.
Cons
At this price range you make some trade offs. There are binding post connectors available only for the front left/right speakers. The rest are spring clips. Having used banana plugs for years this could be annoying but I only have a small stereo set up.
As mentioned before the OSD is transparent which is nice but occasionally the white characters are barely visible depending on the video playing.
You don't have an option to turn off the OSD which I think any receiver with one should have.
ARC can be finicky but this can be due to your components as well. It seems a little quirky with my Samsung TV. HDMI control in general can be quirky. I currently have it off because while using my Logitech Harmony controller I would switch activities and the receiver would power on again after being turned off even if standby sync was disabled.
Overall this is an excellent value receiver but at this price range you make trade offs so see what you are looking for and decide accordingly.

Up-to-date, powerful and inexpensive option for those who need a receiver/amplifier and who don't want to spend all their time wishing they had more money for the next step up. This model does everything, including connect via BlueTooth to devices and via Ethernet to your network.

Nice having wifi. Plenty of power and features. I am lucky to have gotten it during the one day sale. Interface with TV is easy and setup is straight forward. My second Yamaha reciever. The other just moved to the garage.

I wished it had more power since I have floorstanding dual subwoofer speakers for my fronts and slightly smaller for my center. Had Pioneer Elite which sounded better but finally went to HDMI since sub out went on it. I like the external mic tuning feature and how you can enter how far each speaker is in relation to your seating position on the couch. Definitely worth the buy!

The set-up was straight forward, and the sound quality is awesome. My favorite feature is the YPAO. It makes adjusting the surround speakers effortless. Each time I replace one of the older speakers, I simply plug in the YPAO, and it automatically adjusts the speakers!

This was a great buy for the price. Got it home and set it up but had the speakers all crossed up (bad positive/negative connections) Bought some speaker wire with clear markings and re-wired my 5.1 speakers and BAM! Great sound and fairly easy setup for my devices. One drawback is that a powered subwoofer is required. Can't use a passive subwoofer. I have cable, bluray, MS wireless display (for streaming), and PS4 hooked up to this baby. All sound great!

This receiver packs lots of features for a lower end unit. The bluetooth works great and connects to my wireless devices quickly. If using the 4K pass through there is a slight delay before the television picture turns on, but it works flawlessly. It has plenty of power for my speakers and sound quality is top notch.

I checked many reviews before buying this unit and what I have found is that most people that rated this receiver were correct it delivers as promised. Not hard to connects all my speaker wires. It does take sometime to set-up everything else so I suggest if you are not very tech savvy have someone help you.

I upgraded from an older Denon receiver, and the difference was amazing. This Yamaha really pushes my speakers to get the very most out of them. Love the bluetooth and ability to direct connect to Spotify from my phone or ipad.

I needed a new A/V receiver that handled 4K. I also wanted Bluetooth capability but wifi was not a must for me - however now that I have it I find I'm using it a lot for Pandora and net radio. I'm happy with this receiver.

I knew Yamaha products are good. But I didn't expect this receiver is way better than I imagined. It's very good sound quality and connecting with in built speakers with no issues. Overall I love this receiver.
