After 6 years with my Yamaha RX-A720 Aventage Receiver I felt that an up grade was needed to handle the new speakers that I was going to add to make my 5.1 entertainment system to become a 7.1 system. I chose the Aventage RX-A870 as it has sufficient power to handle the Klipsch RP-450C 600 watt passive center channel and the Klipsch RP-280FA 600 watt passive front towers. The receiver made a huge difference and really helped enhancing my 4K UHD tv and the awesome sound quality. Yamaha hands down has a great system. Easy to set up and plenty of power to give you the theater experience you desire.

My last Yamaha receiver lasted 25 years which speaks to the brand. This unit is unbelievable relative to sound quality and interfacing with other components. I recommend downloading the manual from Yamahas website to get the full benefits this receiver has to offer.

I bought this as step 1 in upgrading my home theater to 4K Dolby Vision. Easy setup, firmware updates, sound calibration...couldn’t be more happier.

I hear sounds that my older receiver never provided me. and it adapted to my universal remote - Logitech, no additional cost by geek squad. Now I am ready to upgrade my Panasonic Plasma to more current technology.

I was a little hesitant before buying this because it was a open box but glad I did. It’s a awesome receiver. Had it for about a year now and use it everyday and never had a problem with it. I had a Yamaha receiver before this one for about 15 years and I never had a problem with that one. Set up was really easy. Sounds is clean and clear. I have JBL speakers hook up to it and this powers them very easily. I have it configured as a 5.1.2 atoms and dts x set up and it amazing. For the price I paid for it i could not have gotten a better receiver. You wouldn’t be disappointed. My next receiver is definitely going to another Yamaha.

Great sound quality. Menu layout is pretty straight foward that has some weird methods of setting up. Also its great they give you many options to play with, but it tends to get overwhelming especially if you dont know all the defentions and settings to put in. Music cast is easy to setup and play. Yamaha tech support is very good.

I am very happy with this receiver. It delivers great surround quality. My speakers have never sounded so good.

I have had Yahmaha products before and as pleased with their quality. I was even more pleased with is new amp.

When my old Onkyo died after 12 years of service, I headed over to the Magnolia team. I looked at the Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, and Pioneer line of receivers. I initially brought home a Denon but after struggling with the sound quality it provided i went back and picked up the Yammy. I couldn't be happier. The set-up is pretty straight forward. Their YPAO is Yamaha's version of Audyssey and I found the results didn't fit my ears so I was pleased to see the manual EQ options. The sound is now rich and full as well as balanced. Last night we sat and watched Hacksaw Ridge in 7.2 surround and the battlefield scenes had you feeling like you were right there. Musically I am also very pleased. Throwing on the Big Phat Band DVD the sound field really opened up.

For most average users this is a very good receiver for music or home theater. If you feel you are more of a listening pro there are more expensive models but for the price this is excellent.

This is a very good av receiver! You can control it with your smartphone. The receiver has plenty of power for your speakers and sounds great.

I purchased this unit to replace a 20 year old Yamaha. I was sad to see the other fo because it was the flagship model from that year. That being said, this new unit is a great upgrade. Having HDMI switching on the reciever is so handy it also made the back of the cabinet much tidier because I didn't need separate video and audio cables. The unit seems to have plenty of power and more than enough inputs for video and audio.

Yamaha has done a nice job with this receiver, It has all the features one could want and easy to set up for a home audio/video unit.

This receiver has easy setup and flexibility as well as pre-outs for all channels including dual sub outs, awesome.

Works great with my LG oled65c7. ARC works great with Netflix and other TV apps.

Amazing receiver. Upgrade from an older pioneer vsx series. Great clarity and very simple setup. I used the yapo mic at a few different points and went in to fine tune everything to my liking. My speakers really came alive thanks to this receiver.
