This is a great receiver. My husband and I were trying to decide between this model and the model one-step-down. I'm so glad we went with this one. It was very easy to set up and works great!

Love everything about it:. The airplay capability is awesome to be able to stream musics from phone or tablet. The App for this device allow you to control fully wireless anywhere from your house and backyard. The onscreen menu is very intuitive and very easy to use. Preset settings are scrip.

I would like to have given this product a "5" rating (or at worst, "4.5"). The price was great (the store it was purchased from matched what I found online). I love the features and the sound; however, speaker setup was somewhat difficult. Nonetheless, I would recommend this A/V receiver to anyone whose interested in purchasing.

I knew what I wanted going in to this- as I had done much research based on my needs- phono, SACD, DVD-A, etc. Since this had the Phono input and the Elite did not- it was the Yammie all the way!!!

This unit replaced my HK that I had for 20 years. Yamaha from ATV's, Snowmobiles, Motor Cycles, Outboards Pianos and Audio Equipment. What's next? Built very sound and not plastic.

Much easier to use than my previous Denon receiver. I did have to call Yamaha customer service for an item, they were helpful but rude. Great receiver for the money.

The receiver is a good high-end entry level receiver. It has some features that some sophisticated listeners would appreciate: different surround fields, ability to manually set up to seven speaker systems. However, it is not easy to use. The surround fields available on this unit are the same fields you would probably find in less expensive models and brands. It lacks the power to drive high end speakers.

    The Astonishing AVENTAGE~1030

I am the Proud owner of Yamaha’s AVENTAGE~1030 and also a Yamaha AVENTAGE enthusiast. I purchased the AVENTAGE 1030 to control the system in my waiting room. The AVENTAGE 1030 is Boss of my Theater system in my waiting room. Connected to my 1030 is Samsung’s 75” F8000 LED Smart HDTV, Sony PS4, Monster Power Center and Conditioner, Bowers and Wilkins 6-1/2” In-wall Speakers (2 Front & 2 Rear), Bowers & Wilkins 3 way Center Channel ,and 1 Bowers & Wilkins subwoofer controlled by Samsung and Yamaha Android apps via my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and my Galaxy Gear 2. The setup of my 1030 was effortless using Yamaha’s intricate YPAO system which is a small triangle shaped microphone that automatically sets the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. After connection the system checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker, sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, and even the speaker distance. Being that the 1030 is a Network Receiver I can control the system anywhere in the store using the Yamaha AV Controller app I have the Power to control functions such as: Full system power on/off and volume, select input and DSP modes and even my 75” Samsung F8000 Smart HDTV. I could go on and on about the Technologies and Features of my Yamaha AVENTAGE 1030, but I am Entirely content with yet another Yamaha masterwork. For Peace of Mind I Purchased the Best Buy Geek Squad Home Theater Protection for only $200 on top of the 4 year Yamaha AVENTAGE Manufactures Warranty.

Perfect Reciver for 7.2 and below

Awesome receiver with my Klipsch Reference series as the speakers are very db sensitive. Very Warm, dynamic sound with punchy bass. For the guy that gave this receiver "1 star" , the 1030 is only 2.0 mode in pure/direct mode, not 2.1. That is why the sub is not responding. If people would look at the specs and decide what they need based on that, we could all alleviate confusion and low rankings. Pay attention to the specs folks. Bottom line, this is a top notch unit!! ESS 9006 DAC is quite supurb!

I spent over $20,000 on a home entertainment center about 7 years ago. I was never happy with the complexity of controlling the two zones. I recently did a technology refresh. The Yamaha Aventage series of receivers along with the App installed on an iPhone or iPad is awesome. Mancave is mostly video and the rest of the house is audio. The quality of sound and video, including 3D, is fantastic.

    Flakey direct mode and airplay

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got this for a 2 speaker system with a sub- the Martin Logan ElectroMotion ESL speakers and Dynamo 700w subwoofer. Simply put, the systems sound great in direct mode. But when power off the system, it drops the sub connection from the system when in direct mode. But it is there in standard and all other modes. After running the setup and adjusting things as per the instruction manual, direct mode still had the best sound, with all other modes mudding up the sound. Now remember this is a high end system, and the muddy sound would surly be tolerable, but it was always clearer in direct mode. Sounds very sweet in direct mode in fact. And honestly, this was to be expected- with top notch speakers there is no need for any extra processing anyways. So muddy processing was not a deal killer for me. Finally, airplay was spotty and wouldn't work all the time with random drops, and sometimes just blank audio. I also noticed a few times it was silent in direct mode and had to completely pull the power to get it to work again. Bottom line, for a 2 top end 2 speaker w/sub setup, sounds great in direct mode, when it will hold the settings. Too many other little inconstant issues to make this worth using. I will be trying the Marantz SR5008 and will post a review on it.
