I researched this purchase for a long time. I was excited that Yamaha had finally built something that had the features I absolutely needed and at a price point well below $500. However, since I've previously only played on a real piano or a Yamaha Clavinova keyboard (which I got rid of to save space), I am having to make some adjustments (this is where my review could be considered highly subjective). Out of the box, it looked exactly like I expected, and was lightweight enough to move around easily. I really liked the design and thought the overall build quality was great. However, when I touched the keys and started to play, I immediately missed the resistance from the weighted keys I was used to, and it affected my ability to move around the keyboard. The keys felt really lightweight and plastic, but not in a way that I expected them to break, just awkward at first. Similar experience with the speakers. Not impressed with the sound, but at this size and price point, it would be unreasonable to expect more. Overall, my review is positive. Once I plugged in my high-quality headphones and started to play in a way that was more animated, I was able to forget about the strange feeling keys and somewhat tinny speakers. I used it with the Yamaha FC5 pedal which sometimes does the opposite of sustain (make sure it's the last thing you plug in before you turn on the keyboard and it should work the right way). Note to people using headphones, if they fit with your mobile, you will need an adapter to make it work with the keyboard.

Purchased for dorm use. Daughter has a high quality Yamaha with weighted keys. Needed a more portable for college. Chose this Yamaha because of portability but did not want to sacrifice quality. The keys aren’t weighted but my daughter is pleased with the sound. Can use AC (not included) or batteries. Also purchased Yamaha stereo headphones to play in dorm without disturbing others.

This is good piano for beginners. Portable. Good price too! Only thing is if you don’t want to use batteries, charger is sold separately.

Used for digital music recording with GarageBand and works well with enough settings for music making. Cord to connect to other devices is sold separately and power cord sold separately. It is battery operated but doesnt last long so buy the charger. Best Buy sells a universal ac adapter and it's amazing for so many uses!
