Even though I had dropped multiple hints about wanting this, our first soundbar, for Christmas I was still surprised when I got it from my wife. Initially, she had reservations about it being too loud but we were both pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sound coming from this Yamaha SR-C20A. Don't let it's small form factor fool you, it delivers! Loud or soft, this soundbar has the depth and clarity you might be looking for. So far, we have watched a wide variety of programming from sitcoms to romcoms to Marvel movies, and compared to the built-in sound of our Samsung UN55HU6830F TV it is like rediscovering things, what's old is new again. The voice clarity feature is terrific but it didn't seem to work with the low-volume dialog sequences in "The Last Waltz" (although the music was great), and I have a feeling that it's just the way the film was made. Yes, the remote is kind of old-school looking but since the bar worked great right out of the box with our Xfinity remote we have barely touched it. I used the HDMI arc connections, running that and the A/C wire up in the wall for a neater appearance. Their smartphone app works pretty well too.

This is my first soundbar. Got this for my parents to improve tv sound and dialogue clarity. Wanted something that seamlessly integrated volume control with their existing tv remote, and this soundbar (like a lot of others) fit the bill due to the HDMI ARC connectivity. Also needed something that was small enough to fit on my parents' small media center - lots of soundbars, while not having much depth, are very long - this one is on the smaller end. Setup was super simple and audio quality is very impressive for the form factor. Only area that is lacking is deep bass, but that's to be expected from this form factor without a subwoofer. For tv viewing and casual listening, I find the audio quality really good. Highly recommended.

This was a gift for my Mom that was paired with a Hisense U6G tv that had the normal lacking audio quality TVs are known for. The Yamaha soundbar was exactly what the doctor ordered. Nice punchy bass and clean mids/highs all in a small single unit that comfortably fits on the credenza underneath the tv. This connected via the ARC HDMI flawlessly, so my Mom is able to use only a single remote when watching tv. Overalls, could not be more satisfied.

Awesome soundbar at a great price. We got this to connect with our new LG A1 ThinQ and the combo of these two is exceptional. This soundbar adds a depth of clarity and quality to any movie, show, music, etc. The subwoofer in it is not going to rattle your house if that is what you are looking for, but, for a well rounded movie night, gaming, or music quality sound set up, this is it and provides capable audio. I have had zero issues thus far with any crackling, popping, or poor sound issues. Connection set up is very easy and the remote is intuitive with all the buttons you need and none that you don’t. The only thing I have noticed is the “stereo” and the “game” modes sound identical. It’s not a bad thing per se, but there is no audible difference to me in the two but either sound just fine for game or movie uses. The Bluetooth function works wonderful and connects to our other devices seamlessly and we often use this as a Bluetooth speaker for the home whenever we are relaxing around the home. If you are familiar with Yamaha quality then this will be as you expect. If you aren’t familiar with it, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Great little soundbar. Purchased it for our bedroom to have a little more volume & bass than the tv speakers could provide. NOTE: You must have ARC-capable HDMI input on your television in order to have only one cable going between the soundbar & tv. If you do not have an ARC HDMI I put you’ll need to also have an optical audio input and use the included optical cable as well.

I purchased this sound bar as a gift, and my gifting resume is still fantastic, The person that received this Yamaha sound bar loves the sound and size of the bar. The built in subwoofer means there's less stuff on the floor to trip over. If your looking for an upgrade from the TV sound for a: bedroom, dorm, or a small apartment with sensitive neighbors, this might be the sound bar for you.

The Yamaha 2.1 channel sound bar did not disappoint. It packs a lot of punch for a small speaker. For the price, it is a great introduction to anyone who has not used an alternate speaker for streaming movies and shows. It has been a month, and I have not experienced a delay in the sound. It does not take up a lot of room. It came with the fiber optic wire I needed, so I did not need to purchase an HDMI cable. The sound is great and loud enough. The speaker can isolate dialogue, so it is easier for my wife to hear the dialog in the movie or show without having to crank the volume.

Compact size is really a plus for a home office setting. Design is really smart, including a subwoofer and HDMI-ARC usually not found in comparable designs at this price point. At significant discount off list, a really good deal. Sound is much more than good enough for home office or bedroom. Much better performance than comparable LG and Vizio models.

I put this in my office with a 53 inch TV. The set up is easy and operation very easy as well. It comes with an optical cable but you should use an HDMI cable on your HDMI (ARC) output if you have one. The sound is clear and bass surprising with no sub. Perfect for a small to medium room.

I just moved across country into an 870 square foot apartment. My style is minimalist and my TV is only 43 inches. It's a new 8 series Samsung and the sound was awful. I didn't want to spend alot. I didn't want a bunch of wires or a separate subwoofer. And I really just wanted to be able to watch TV without wincing at the sound. Is it the best soundbar I've heard? No. But I watched two movies tonight and I didn't have to turn on closed captions to figure out what was being said. The music in the movies was clear and got better once I fiddled with the bass a bit. And I didn't have to raise the volume so loud that I was worried about the neighbors in order to enjoy them. It was super easy to install since my TV has the ARC outlet. And I already have a wonderful Harmon Kardon blue tooth speaker for my music so I just wanted something affordable, compact and appropriate for a small living room. And this fits the bill. Just manage your exceptions and realize it's an all in one product for a small space and don't expect an audiophile's dream for $150 and no subwoofer.

Overall I'd give it 4 stars. It's better than the speakers on our Sony X series 65" TV from a few years back, but not quite as good as I was hoping. Dialogue is good but there's not a lot of depth in the mid and low range. There is one very frequent bug that drives us nuts: when you power on the TV, connected to the soundbar via bluetooth, it plays any sound at full volume (very loud) until you turn the volume up or down, then it resets to the volume it's supposed to be at. I haven't found a way around this other than switch to a wired connection. Other soundbars haven't done this with the same TV. For the price paid, the value is very high.

Good sound quality. Compact footprint fits in limited spaces. The second optical connection provides flexibility to add a device in addition to TV. Bluetooth provides more device support.

Super easy to install and pair with my cable remote using HDMI ARC. Clear Voice setting does what it says, really helps me hear dialogue. Petite footprint, but puts out big sound. I like mine so much, I just bought a second one to give my in-laws for Christmas.

Perfect size and sound for a Bedroom filling but not overwhelming. Size and the passive subs do a good job on the low end as well. I play my music as well and once again it doesn’t disappoint.

This is the perfect size to put behind the 43" tv on the bedroom dresser. The sound is very good, much better than I expected for the size. I'm very happy with the purchase, it connected easily and very much worth the cost.

I bought this for my 96 year-old mother to go with her 40 inch Samsung Series 5 HDTV. She has a pretty severe hearing deficit but the Yamaha is up to the task of delivering plenty of very clean and crisp audio so that she can hear her programs. I chose to connect it through the HDMI ARC port and her cable remote synched up with it perfectly so only one remote is needed for her cable box, TV, and the soundbar. This soundbar delivers plenty of clean and well balanced room-filling audio.

Bought this soundbar to go with a small TV. I had, and the volume was great. The sound is better than the t v by itself.

I have used the speaker for over a month and have been very pleased. I use it primarily for my desktop computer and it fits nicely under my monitors. Setup was easy and sound is great.

great sound improvement over internal TV speakers. packs quite a bit of punch for such a small package, works well in a smaller room and very simple install and setup and great price point.
