Having some Yamaha audio equipment, I was very intrigued in their offering to the true wireless world of earbuds. The TW-E7A earbuds sure do look nice. I have the black version. The case is matte black, featuring a silver Yamaha logo, and an oval design with minimal fingerprint attraction. While compact enough, perhaps it is not as small to carry in a pair of jean’s small pocket or tight pants. The lid closes magnetically and is secure for the most part. It is charged via Qi wireless or USB-C port in the back (cable included). There is an LED to indicate charging. The battery is decent at 5 hours per charge and the case adds another 15 hours, which hopefully should be enough for anyone. The earbuds themselves have a pleasant design. They have a graphite accent with the Yamaha logo on the action button. These buds come with several size tips and wings to assure proper fitting. They are a bit larger than what I would have liked, and they stick out a bit, but once I found the right combination of tips and wings, they were comfortable enough to wear for a couple of hours, which is usually my limit anyway. I was able to hike and even tumble while wearing them, but I will say that once heavy sweat set in, I did find myself adjusting them often -but that happens with most in-ear buds. It’s a good thing that they are IPX5, which means that they withstand sweat, rain, and dust. I usually do not like push-button controls. I have found that pushing them can jam the buds deep into the ear canal, making them rather uncomfortable. I was relieved that this is not the case with the TW-E7A. Activating the commands was easy and responsive. I am also happy that EVERYTHING can be controlled with the buttons -including volume! These buds feature Bluetooth 5.0 and I did not experience any disconnects or break-ups. Having aptX, SBS, and AAC codex, I did not have any lag while playing videos or games. However, I did experience some infrequent issues with the left ear falling out of sync and some problems when placing them back in the case, in which they would not disconnect automatically from the phone and I had to do it manually. This is annoying and a bummer and I hope Yamaha releases a firmware update to fix this. When it comes to sound, the TW-E7A hugely impressed me. Having been a DJ, own several very high-end headsets and equipment, I can tell you that the sound signature of these buds was on point. I would describe the sound as studio flat, clear, and detailed; sort of like with reference headphones. The bass is punchy, distinctive, and natural. These buds seem to be leaning a bit towards the higher frequencies. This is because most buds are bass-heavy as well as most mainstream music. The mids show up on par with the highs, which are not fatiguing or piercing at all. The soundstage and separation are exceptional as I felt like I was listening outside my head. I was able to identify instruments, their placement, and subtleties. I even noticed singers’ breathing pauses and fingers sliding down cords during live recordings. While some bass enthusiasts may find the bass lacking, I found them quite consistent overall in most genres -especially orchestral and salsa. One bit of advice: you MUST find the right ear tips to properly seal the ear canal to experience the best sound possible. The buds have good passive sound isolation -provided the right tips are being used. When activating ANC (active noise cancellation), I was able to block most traffic noise, some distant lawnmowing, and the air vents. However, higher sounds, such as loud vehicles, screaming kids, and keyboard clicking can still be heard at some level. The ambient sound is OK but is especially useful when crossing the street or trying to be mindful of people around you. The Listening Care feature is nice to have but I didn’t really notice the difference. In the end, I think Yamaha did a great job here in this effort into the true-wireless design. Sure, some improvements are certainly needed (connection, sync-ups, and fit), and the sound may not be for everyone. However, having an abundance of features, full controls, ANC, and in my opinion, some of the best all-around sound signature I’ve heard in a Bluetooth set, make the Yamaha TW-E7A an easy recommendation for the audio enthusiast.

Yamaha TW-E7 Truly Wireless Earphones: Product Advertises: • Active Noise-Cancelling: escape from the noise and immerse yourself in music • Ambient Sound: choose when you need to be aware of your surroundings • Listening Care: intelligent equalization for full-range sound at lower listening volumes • Bluetooth 5 with aptX: stable wireless connectivity and superior streaming quality • Simple controls: make phone calls, activate Siri/Google Assistant and control your music with buttons on each earbud • IPX5-rated: water- and sweat-resistant • Wireless charging: charging case supports Qi wireless charging • Ultra-customizable: 5 eartip and 3 silicone sleeve sizes included Box Contents: • Earphones (with built in Mic) • Charging Case • Carrying Case (Drawstring bag) • USB power cable • Ear tips (SS, S, M, L) • Silicone Sleeves (S, M, L) • Quick Start Guide • User Guide Paired with Apple iphone 8 plus on ios 14.2 and Surface Pro on windows 10. My Review: I was interested in this product for its convenient size, noise cancelling/ambient sound options, and the “True” Wireless device. To begin, I believe that it is important for potential consumers to know what the major difference between True Wireless and Wireless earbuds. True Wireless earbuds are two separate Bluetooth devices whereas Wireless earbuds have a connecting cord between the two ear pieces. A connecting cord can tend to be irritating especially if using during exercise routines, but without a connecting cord can make you fearful that the earbuds can be easily lost. Now let’s talk about the product… Initial Setup/Pairing (5/5): The Yamaha TW-E7 Truly Wireless Earphones comes with a guide pamphlet that shows 3 steps on how to pair the earphones. I will mention that through my initial excitement to try these out, I missed that the picture only showed removing one earphone out of the case to pair whereas I had removed both out and had difficulty pairing the devices. After turning them off, placing them back in the charging case, and pulling only one earphone out of the case was I able to easily pair it to my phone then removing the other connected the second earphone. This is a reminder to myself to slow down and REVIEW instructions. I did pair these with my Surface Pro to compare pairing on a different operating system. Windows 10 picked up the device quickly without issues. Sound quality (5/5): I will admit that I was completely mind-blown by the sound quality! Sounds on music tracks that were often very subtle through even high quality external speakers projected vibrantly through these earphones. This product is equipped with three different listening modes: • Active Noise-Cancelling (escape from the noise and immerse yourself in music) – In my opinion, this mode isn’t the best of the three listening modes. It does provide a level of noise canceling at medium-low/medium volume levels. • Ambient Sound (choose when you need to be aware of your surroundings) – There isn’t much difference in this mode from the Active Noise-Cancelling mode unless you have the volume set to 1 or 2, then it provides good quality playback while still allowing you to hear your surroundings. • Listening Care (intelligent equalization for full-range sound at lower listening volumes) – I prefer this listening mode and is the setting that really blew my mind away from the sound quality that amplified subtle sounds. Not that the other two modes did not provide good quality listening, there is just a bit more clarity to sounds in this mode. Fit (5/5): With the wide variety of ear tips sizes and silicone sleeves, you are bond to find the perfect fit. The silicone sleeves really help with fit and overall comfort. Compared to other true wireless ear buds that I have tried from other brands, I would rate these at the top of the list for fit and comfort. Controls (4.5/5): There are single buttons on each ear piece that can be used for multiple commands (all listened in the detailed guide). While listing to music you can play/pause/raise volume/lower volume/skip next/skip previous/cycle listening modes. While using the phone you can pick up/end/control volume/ignore calls. The buttons are easy to feel and push. I would prefer if the skip song options were double click instead of hold (reason why I reduced the rating by 0.5 in this category), but other than that the functions keep me from having to pick up my phone to answer the phone or change the song. Battery Life (5/5): There is up to 20 hours of battery life. This is split between 5 hours in the ear pieces themselves and three recharge sessions with the charging case to make up the remaining 15 hours. Not bad for such small high quality devices. From what I could tell, I did get about 20 hours of battery life out of the first trial. I didn’t really monitor how long it took to recharge the whole device to 100%, maybe between 2-3 hours. Call Quality (3/5): As the person using the device to make calls the sound quality is great, however, I have been told by some receivers that even though my voice comes over the phone clear that there is a static noise that comes through while I’m using the devices. I haven’t figured out what could be causing the static. Closing remarks: Overall this is a great quality product designed for music enthusiasts that seek the perfect sound. I would definitely recommend this product.

I've tested out numerous headphones and earbuds in the past couple years. Many gave stood out and some have failed to impress. That isn't to say I dislike these though. I'm not entirely certain where these would fall. I think it would require more time spent with them to discern the differences between them. There's some voodoo that Yamaha uses to allow them to adjust themseleves to your specific ears. They use a proprietary technology that measures the distance the sound is travelling from the earbuds to your inner ear to achieve a better more perfect sound. How this is put in to practice and whether you can tell the difference is remain to be seen, again I think this is an over time kind of deal. I used them for a few hours. I had to fiddle with different sizes to find a good fit. The ones that were already on the unit were slightly too large to where it was uncomfortable, but thankfully they include several. I believe theres 7 different sized tips and there's 3 different sized, not sure what to call them, but the piece that holds it in place. One thing I did notice with the largest holder, it will not allow the earbuds to charge. The lip on them is too large and keeps the earbuds propped up inside the charging case to where the contacts on the earbuds and the pins in the case never make contact. This is a slight design oversight. I did try moving them around but it never would charge them. One thing I appreciate is the use of Type-C for charging the case. This means less cables to have lying around.I had these connected to a 48W fast charge capable charger and using the type-c to type-c cable it did charge them in about an hour or so. There is an app you can download, it's pretty no frills. There's not a lot in the app to speak of other than the ability to adjust volume and perform updates. There's no eq or anything of that sort. They do however appear to support eq based apps. I have them paird with by Tab S7+ and Note 10+ and adjusting the phones eq does affect the audio, something that I've seen never be the case. Audio quality wise, I'd say they're pretty darn good. There's not a lot of bass, but more a balanced and nuanced sound profile to them. I tested with an eq on and off. Samsung also features a sound profile system baked in where you can run what's essentially a hearing test and it will boost certain frequencies or reduce them. Adjusting these didn't really make much of a difference. Various music seems to come out very balanced. I listened to some EDM, Hip Hop, Metal, Rock and some classical stuff. I believe that you can really only get a true reproduction with over ear headphones due to the larger diaphragms involved. Earbuds can only do so much given their compactness. These do an admirable job though. I really can't help but compare them to another pair of earbuds I own, specifically some Sony's. I do personally prefer more bass in my listening and I did find the Yamaha's a bit lacking in this regard. I also find that they don't feel loud. ANC on or off made no discernable difference with the loudness. The Sony's also feature ANC and I think their implementation is a bit better as it allows you to adjust them depending on your surroundings. You can still hear things with the ambient mode on the Yamaha's which is important if you're outside on a run/walk or doing other excercising. Overall, I'd say they're a great pair of earbuds. They fit well, they have a nice balanced sound, though I do wish they'd go a bit louder.

While I liked the sound quality and some other features, the overall issues with these buds left me disappointed. Here are more details: What I liked: 1) Decent design 2) Good sound 3) Push button controls 4) Noise cancellation 5) Multiple ear tips and sleeves to make sure that you can get optimum fit What needs to be improved: 1) Pairing process: The pairing process is not simplified. You need to pair both buds individually. Multiple times when I was on calls, the headphones will turn themselves off as if they detect that I am not using them. It might be a setting that I might be missing but this is really annoying. 2) Battery life: As we are living in a world of day long virtual meetings, it will be better if the head phones can last at least the whole work day (6-10 hours). These buds usually last only for 4-5 hours. 3) Call quality: While I am able to hear people absolutely clear, the people on the other side have complained about muffled voice/static noise at times. Overall, I was expecting more from Yamaha. May be the next iteration of these buds can take care of the above issues and make these great.

In this price range you’re competing with the heavyweights and unfortunately these miss the mark. When it comes to the main feature ANC, it’s pretty much non existent. I tried multiple times turning the ANC on and off within different environments and noticed almost no difference, if I did it was negligible. I have a pair of class leading over the ear headphones and though they don’t cancel everything, you notice a major difference. I didn’t expect a set of earbuds to deliver that level of ANC, but I expected something! The sound these produce is flat, the bass is almost nonexistent unless you have them fully seated in your ear. Even when you do have them full seated, the bass increase is only marginally better. The Yamaha app doesn’t have any EQ or sound modes to change the sound either. The app has very limited functionality. When it comes to call quality, the person I was talking to was clear on my end, but they complained that it was fuzzy sounding for them. To rule out if it was the earbuds or something else, I disconnected the earbuds and talked using my phone and then I tried another set of earbuds. As soon as I switched to the phone and the other earbuds, they said the fuzziness went away. The one positive is you can use the left independent of the right for calls and music. An update to these headphones may improve some of these shortcomings, but the app said it couldn’t connect to check for an update, even though it was already connected! There’s to much competition to under deliver in this field, unfortunately Yamaha did with these.

I have numerous wireless earbuds so I think I can give an honest review on these. Con: The buds are large and bulky IMO, they protrude out from the ear more than Id like. I prefer buds that are more streamlined and fit in the ear better than these do. Pro: Sound quality is really good, bass is there but not over powering. Highs are crisp but they wont blow you away. Con: You need to turn the volume up to almost max to reach the good sound quality. At lower volumes you lose quality. Pro: These have ok noise canceling. Con: The noise canceling is nothing to write home about, it works but not as good as other leading brands which I believe set the standard for noise canceling on wireless ear buds. Con: The case is large, but I guess it needs to be to house these larger than average earbuds. Also you have to get the ear buds in just right or they wont charge and the case wont close fully. Pro: They charge via USB C instead of micro-usb Pro: Yamaha includes a small carrying pouch and 4 sets of changeable tips per ear bud so you can definitely find the right size. Pro/Con: some like touch sensitive buttons and some like physical clicky buttons, these have the latter and I find them easy to press unlike the Yamahas TW-3s which are hard to press and you jam them further down your ear canal with each press. Overall I cant get excited about these, nothing grabs me and says put me in your ears. And for the price I can definitely say do not buy.

When I received the Yamaha Wireless Noise Cancelling Earphones (Earbuds), I quickly charged them, then performed the very easy setup via Blue Tooth to my phone. I put on Simple Radio, and played my favorite music station in Chicago, WXRT. The sound quality was excellent; which is what I expected from Yamaha, a name known for musical instruments. Voices came through clearly, music played full-bodied. I was impressed. I turned on the Noise Cancelling function, switching from Ambient Sound, and wasn't so impressed. I had the clothes washer running upstairs and could still hear the heavy spin through the music. Not the immersive feeling that I was seeking. On the whole, these are high quality earbuds with great sound. The price tag is a bit high, but they may be worth the price.

Impressed With The Noise Cancelling From Lil 'Buds

Impressive Noise Cancelling out of Ear Buds My experiences with noise cancelling wearables have been solely over-the-ear headphones, and I started noticing the earbud varieties starting to take shape like these TW-E7As from Yamaha. So let’s get the obvious question out of the way: does the noise cancelling really work from these earbuds? They really do! My one and only use case for noise cancelling headphones has been during air travel, where I think most noise cancelling earbuds strive to overcome the noise at 30,000 feet. But since air travel has been thrown waistside due to covid fears, the next best thing I have is a white noise video from YouTube cranked up to test them, and they did not disappoint for such a small size! Clearly a distinguishable change between ambient noise and noise cancelling modes. Bravo, Yamaha. That being said, these earbuds are, to me, abnormally larger than normal passive earbuds. They had to squeeze as much IP as they could into a small form factor in order to achieve the noise cancelling ability. They will extend out of your ear quite a bit. But I kinda like it! They sit fairly comfortably in your outer ear and broadcast the Yamaha logo proudly. Getting them to fit nicely in your ear will take a few moments as you find out which combo of ear tips and sleeves work for your ear anatomy. I had to opt for the sleeves with wings that allow the bud to stay latched to your ear, preventing them from falling off. I'm sure there is enough here to satisfy fitment for most users. ****** I think it’s super duper important to ensure that the ear tips create a seal around your outer ear canal in order to fully take advantage of the sound quality and noise cancelling. ****** Sound quality is always a subjective matter with earbuds. These earbuds are certainly not a pair for the bassheads; it will begin to sound a bit muddy with tracks that emphasize bass. But overall the lower-mid range is very warm feeling and punchy. But also it does very well in the mid to higher range, so most tracks will sound just fine with these. I wasn’t WOWed by them, but neither was I disappointed. Using these buds are not straight forward at first. There is a single push button on each earbud where you can control volume, track advance, summon Google Assistant and change Noise Cancelling modes. You will get used to them fairly quickly, so I’m not concerned about that. What I am concerned about are some kinks that need to be ironed out. Sometimes the left earbud does not respond to clicks to change volume or ANC mode. One other time, I was only receiving sound from the left earbud for a few moments before the right one kicked into gear. When you’re putting them back into the case for storage, sometimes the earbuds don’t sit quite right to make perfect contact with the charger and end up having a bud or two low on battery. Sometimes whipping them right out of case doesn’t immediately pair with my phone. These little things amount up to unneeded frustration. I’ve tried to update the firmware using the Yamaha “Headphones” app and it fails to check for an update. Dude, what gives?? I feel like I have to work a little bit harder to make these work. In summary, the noise cancelling is a win for these earbuds. I can wear these comfortably for long periods of time and with the proper fittings, they stay put. They are obnoxiously large, so you may or may not like that look. The sound quality is above average, but again, I was not floored by them. But these are noise cancelling earbuds that you can carry in your pocket, and that’s also a win in my book. I found that battery life was consistent with what Yamaha advertised (20h with ANC on) and I think you’ll be able to squeeze even more time when you turn ANC off. Yamaha needs to iron out some of the bugs or they’ll be testing the patience of many consumers.

Alright product aside, Yamaha is known for making great music, and audio equipment, but it shows not much time and resources were put on to making these earphones. I hate starting my review in a negative way, but I was baffled to see Yamaha release a product like this. Anyways, this is a review and let me explain why i was disappointed with these earphones. Let me start with the sound. To be blunt, the sound is not good at all. I did my own personal testing with 4 different headphones from different price ranges, I let people tell me their experience, I tried with different types of music and quality, I tried using the mobile APP, and i also tried to tweak the EQ from several devices, but at the end these always ended on the bottom of the list. There is really no need go into specifics, all i have to say is that these sound worst than the lower end wireless earphones. Overall the ear pieces feel solid, and the silicone grip they added is great for when you sweat. The ear pieces are a little on the bigger side but is not uncomfortable to wear them. The noise canceling is barely even noticeable compared to other wireless earphones that offer noise canceling Lastly the case is bulky, and the finish on it feels OK but not premium. These headphones look great, but the performance and quality is disappointing. I would say the best thing about these is that it uses a Type C charging port. If you really want to own Yamaha wireless earphones i would wait until they make a new version, but I would not recommend these at all

Yamaha's TW-E7A is a true wireless in the ear bud set up that boast great clarity with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Nothing really new compared to what's out there in the market, however the real question is how well it stands out in regards to its competitors. I hope this review will serve you well in your buying decision of this unit. First off let's get the basics out of the way. Out of the box your going to get everything you need including the docking case, travel pouch, multiple ear inserts, and the usb charger. This unit does provide a free app which like most other headsets allows you to customize certain pre-sets such has sound controls, noise cancellation levels, etc. Really this is your run of the mill wireless headset and if you have ever owned a wireless headset or currently own one it pretty much will share the same features. I don't want to touch too much on them as they are pretty basic and you can pull the features off of Best Buy's website. But some of the basic features include, direct link to your google assistant or Alexa, answering phone calls or making them and so on. The case serves as the main charging dock for the earbuds and charging is done via the two magnetic pin connectors. Charging the earbuds is easily done and the magnetic tips ensure that pins line up just right every time which makes placement a cinch. Full charge of the base station was roughly under a hour and yielded roughly 4 hours of play back time pending your audio and ANC settings. Out of all the earbuds i have own or tested i will say this set up offers ample selection in the way of fitment for your ear tips. Most units only give you three tips, small, medium, and large. You get five ear tips with three different sleeves to ensure that your ears get the maximum grip necessary during your usage. Let's not waste any more time and dive right into sound quality and functionality. First off i wanna say that i tested these in the gym and while running on my daily trails. In the ear buds are always my first go to when working out at the gym as they are very discreet but most importantly they don't become cumbersome during my exercises. Let's talk comfort. Once the correct tip and sleeve were found for my ears i will say this one of the more comfortable earbuds i have worn. Now with that being said i noticed right off the bat that even with the addition of extra sleeves these earbuds struggled to stay in my ear. Lifting weights or doing a low motion workout was not a problem however when i got to doing more impact workouts such as cardio or sit ups i noticed that they struggled to stay perfectly seated in, which kept making me have to adjust them. This was very disappointing considering that every time they shifted, outside noise got in which made it very distracting and would keep taking my focus off my workout to re-adjust my placement. Now the active noise cancellation is a nice feature and does a very good job at keeping out medium to low level noises however keep in mind this function only shines if the earbuds are properly seated in the canal and stay seated. With the fact that they kept shifting during my workout it kind of made this function of the earbud useless. Sound quality was average, which was kind of disappointing considering the company that is making this unit. And yes i get it, earbuds are not going to sound as well as over the ear however there are several other earbuds out there that just sound rich and more full. The mids and highs were great however the vocals and lows were lacking just a bit. It seemed like the drivers were struggling to ramp up the low bass rifts while allowing the vocals to come in with clarity without being over shadowed. There was no static distortion or inference from the bluetooth side at lower levels however it just felt like the sound was lacking clarity. For those of you that like to blast your music really loud your going to notice this even more at the higher levels as sound quality seems to get slightly more distorted at the higher volume levels. Battery life isn't the greatest either as most times i would barely get enough sound for a three hour workout. Now i understand that most of you probably don't workout this much but keep this in mind, if you use this for travel, rather it be by plane, car or train, you better hope that trip doesn't go longer than three to four hours or your going to find that your buds won't be able to hang with you. There's nothing more aggravating than to be three hours in to a 10 hour car ride only to have to stop listening to music for about 20 mins to recharge them for another go around. Here's my final verdict. This is a decent, average earbud and nothing else. Sure the ANC works great as long as they are properly fitted in your ear and don't move however for those of you that have a active life style and wish to use them on your morning jog or workout routine i would say this is a hard pass. Now with that being said if your the type of person that is just trying to get from point A to point B every morning on your way to work via the train or bus, than ya this is a great set up for you. The fact that you have to ride on public transportation means you block out the sounds around you and the fact that your sitting means the buds will stay perfectly seated. Put them back in your case when you get to work and by the time you get off to start your trip home they are fully charged and ready to go another round. The low battery life means they would not be my go to for a long adventure however if i was about to take a short trip then sure i'd grab this unit. At the end of the day the purchase of this unit is going to come down to how exactly you plan to use them. I personally would pick them up only if they were on sale. Pros: -Multiple eartips and sleeves -ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) Cons: -Average sound quality -Average battery life -Struggles to stay in the ear firmly

Nice Ear Buds with some reservations

I’m writing this review as I listen to these Yamaha Ear buds. They are reasonably light in my ears, they have 5 different sized ear tips in conjunction with 3 sleeves to get your best fit (The sleeves have “ears” on them to help stabilize the bud in your ears…that work). I suggest you try different ones to get that comfortable and stable fit. For me, I have tired 4 different combinations and I would say they fit very well and feel secure in my ears. What I like: I like the crystal clear highs and very pleasant midranges on these ear buds. I can actually hear individual instruments along with excellent vocals. The bass is there but not prominent. I would rather have a little more bass for my taste. The Yamaha App offers the option to turn off the “Listening Care” (which is designed to save your ears and give a fuller sound at low levels). I find some difference at low lever listening levels but it’s subtle. I would like to have an equalizer in the app to fine tune the sound for my preferences and that would be to add slightly more bass. Noise canceling has 3 options: Off, Noise Cancelling On, and Ambient where you can still have some background noise, like a horn, come through. These can be selected through pushes on the Left ear bud or through the App. The Noise Cancelling does work, but is not exaggerated. The Ambient allows just a few sounds to get back to your ears. I might add that the App also gives you a percentage of battery life remaining on the ear buds, which is nice. The simple button on each ear bud is intuitive when you learn that UP volume is 2 quick clicks on the Right, or volume down is 2 quick clicks on the left. A single click on either ear pauses or un-pauses your music. Track forward and track back are also allowed a well as receiving or ending a phone call. Bluetooth pairing seems to work well if you do it right the first time. These pair best if you remove the LEFT ear bud from the case first to start the initial paring process. However my first attempt removing the right bud first only allowed one to pair and the other to not. I then had to try to re-pair. Also while listening I have had a situation where one ear un-pairs or cuts out then comes back. Not something I would expect from Yamaha at this price point. After setup, they quickly pair to your phone as soon as they are removed from the case. I like that the case can be charged with a USB C cable as well as wirelessly on your phone charger! Yes, you can sit the case on your wireless charger, the light comes on, and it will charge the case which in turn charges the buds. Nice feature. What I would like improved: An option in the app for an equalizer to adjust the sound to your taste. Bass freaks will be disappointed without that. If you want to work out to some great rocking bass you will be disappointed in these. The ear buds are hard to remove from the case if you have big fingers. The case is already big in size, but the spaces to get a hold of the buds is just too tight for some fingers. The LED Light on the case doesn’t really tell you how much charge is left in the case. It would be nice to have a row of lights to give a relative visual of what’s left in the charging case. And lastly the provided instructions are weak. Only by reading elsewhere did I know there was an App and nowhere does it discuss the different ear tips or sleeves. Conclusion: I like the really clean and clear sound with the ability to use noise cancellation. Bass could be better. I was expecting some rocking ear buds and was disappointed. Wireless charging the case is a plus. Would I recommend…… I would for certain music tastes who like a more flat response, but I have reservations because of lack of bass and cost.

    wireless earbuds with some issues

These are pretty basic wireless earbuds--they sound decent, and work well most of the time, but there are a couple of annoying quirks to them. First, they look nice--sleek but with enough weight to feel solid. They have magnets to hold them solidly in the case, which is a pretty ingenious touch. You can turn it upside down with the earbuds in and case open and they stay in The case itself is needed to charge them (as is the norm) but fortunately uses a USB-C plug--as everything should. There is one red indicator on the case to indicate they're charging....but no way to know how much charge is left without looking in the app. The app itself is a waste of time--it genuinely does nothing. Hopefully there will be some upgrades coming, but it's really strange to install an app that does nothing. This was maybe the biggest drawback to me--there is no EQ or way to adjust for certain sounds or music styles. This seems like a basic system for any reputable music company--particularly a company as well-known as Yamaha. The sound in itself is fine, though suffers from lack of bass like most earbuds do. Spoken words like news and podcasts were very clear. Again--adjustments to certain decibel values would have been nice to have. I found the fit in the ear canal to be very comfortable, which is odd in itself since I typically require larger sized things like this. These buds felt more secure than most, though I can't help but worry about them falling out while running. There are different size tips to help with the fit. The passive noise cancelling worked for the most part. The biggest issue I had was with the connections staying consistent--I would have periods where one or the other would repeatedly disconnect to the point I'd have to unpair them and pair them again. The other issue was the controls--they're built into the headphones themselves with each individual pod having it's own 'touch' controls. Touching the controls required enough force that the buds would work themselves a little too snug into my ears. It was almost uncomfortable.. I pretty much stick to controlling the volume with my phone to avoid this.. Not a huge deal since my phone is usually close by. It's kind of cool they can pair up to three devices at one time --it does make connecting the next time much faster. These are good, but not great large wireless earbuds that fall surprisingly short in the sound controls.

Try all the different eartip sizes

These are the first earbuds that didn't fit perfectly out of the box. Sound was acceptable with the default size, but they started slipping out as I moved around. I tried the largest eartip size-- and while mids and highs were stunningly clear and full, they lacked bass. I thought perhaps that it was due to an EQ setting. As a last ditch effort I decided to try the next eartip size down, and boom- I got a perfect seal with full bass/mid/highs -- the sound is incredibly rich. Since it wasn't apparent that the eartip fit was causing suboptimal sound, I recommend that you try each eartip size. Call quality is on par with my fruit-branded earbuds and I think audio quality is just a tad richer (better) on the Yamahas than too. I don't like the push button settings because the click is too loud in my ear-- I wish they had made these touch control instead. The app doesn't seem to do much except confirm a couple settings. It displayed an error each time it tried to check for updates, so maybe the app developers just need to refine the UI and make error messages more user friendly. I couldn't tell the difference between the safe listening and non-safe listening modes, so I left safe-listening mode enabled. I like the silicone lining on the case lid. You won't get a satisfying click when it closes, but it feels more premium to close than the plastic case would without it. USB-C was a great bonus and like most wireless earbuds, occasionally the charging contacts get misaligned and your phone connects to them while they're in the case. The case is a little bit bulkier than I'd like, and not perfectly pocketable (unless you wouldn't notice a d-sized battery in your pocket all day). The noise cancellation isn't perfect - but it's good enough to block out excessive noise without giving you a headache. Battery life is great, but I wish it were easier to tell the battery levels with the indicator lights on the case. Despite this criticism in my review - I really like these earbuds and they're worth a look if you're on the market for ANC wireless earbuds.

I like the freedom of wearing wireless earbuds, especially when they fit and feel perfect. This set of earbuds is not only comfortable, but they perform exactly as expected. The case is definitely a comfortable size, easy to fit in my pocket without having a weird lump sticking from my pocket. I wish the magnet on the closure was just a bit stronger, but it still does the job, as long as the case is stationary. The buds themselves are comfortable, especially the way they nestle in the pocket of the middle of my ear. Once I’ve adjusted the tips in my ear, the fit is perfect, and almost like they aren’t there. Immediately I can hear a decrease in outside sound, even before playing any music or on a call. I first played music, hoping for great clarity and no distortion. Just in those two notes alone, the earbuds passed the test with ease. The music plays comfortably, even at high volume. There’s no hiss or scratching on the high end tones/notes, along with adequate bass response. I turned the volume to its max and still no distortion. The buds actually didn’t sound as if they were at their peak, or even close. I switched between different genres of music, and all were reproduced at the same level, same quality, same everything. Then, I decided to test them while I went for a walk. I noticed the noise cancellation began to somewhat turn off and come back on in one ear, and would switch sides. The wasn’t windy during my walk, so I was a little thrown off hearing the constant change from one ear to the other. However, they were still able to block out background noise like cars and dogs. I also tried the sound while on a call. Still clear to me, and clear to the recipient. There wasn’t any distortion, nor did I sound like I was in a tunnel. The button functions on each ear work easily. Learning the taps and duration of pressing the buttons is actually pretty easy. The response from pressing of tapping to the change on my phone is very quick, to the point where I didn’t notice a lag at all. My gripe with these earbuds is the app. While the app says you can have access to more sound control, that isn’t true. You only get to control the noise cancellation. Luckily, the overall sound and quality make up for the lack in app function. I would definitely recommend these earbuds , especially for anyone that will do moderate activity/exercise.

I own several pairs of true wireless earbuds and I was hoping these would be my favorite coming from a company like Yamaha, sadly they are not. Pros: Sound is clear and balanced thru the whole spectrum. Bass is a little weak but you can only get so much out of a tiny driver. Many options for fit on earpieces. Fit well in my ear, very comfortable to wear. Noise canceling seems to be ok but a good fitting true wireless earbud keeps out a lot of ambient noise just by their nature Cons: Pairing was easy until I tried to pair a second device. I paired them to my almost new HP Laptop and the audio was choppy and broke up to the point I disconnected them and used something else. Why do you have to remove them from the case in a specific order to be able to pair them? Could not get wireless charging to work. Possibly it is my charging pad but it works fine with my phone. You need to make sure they are inserted into the case properly to make sure they are charging. Magnets that hold them in case are not very strong. When I am putting them in the case and have to fiddle around to get them to charge I keep hitting the button and turning them back on when they are in the case. Call quality. While I could hear my wife plainly she said I sounded like I was at the end of a tunnel when I called her. Case cover does not close with a detent to keep the cover closed. I dropped the case from about 5" off the floor and the top popped open and both earpieces fell out. In closing, I am very disappointed in the performance and design issues from a pair of expensive earbuds from a company like Yamaha. I feel these really give Yamaha a black eye for the price point especially

Mediocre sound coupled with confusing controls

I’ll begin by stating that I love music and I love the tools that deliver the music. Speakers, surround sound systems, over-the-ear headphones, on-ear, or in-ear earbuds. Even bone conduction. I’ve tried them all, I understand their uses and limits, and I know what I like. My experience with the Yamaha - TW-E7A True Wireless Noise-Cancelling Earbuds has been a real disappointment. I’m a big guy, 6’ 3” with a proportionally large head. I have had issues in the past with finding the right fit from earbuds. When I get a new set, I automatically switch to the largest tips provided with them and can usually find the right fit. Sometimes I can get by with the medium tip; it varies from bud to bud. I was optimistic that with the included 5 ear tips and 3 silicone sleeve sizes I would be able to find a comfortable, secure fit that provided the seal needed for sound isolation and clear, full sound reproduction. After two days of fiddling and experimentation, I eventually settled on the combination of tips/sleeves that were as good as I was going to get. Sound isolation is mediocre, so I can’t really comment on the active noise cancelling. (For frame of reference, I have active noise cancelling in other buds and over-ear headphones and have a good feel for what to expect). Music sounds just all right on these earbuds. One positive is that at low volume, details are still discernable. Sound reproduction really seems tuned to the mids and highs; bass is almost nonexistent. Voices, sung or spoken, are reproduced with a tinny, unnatural quality that almost reminds me of the static you might hear on a poorly tuned AM radio. I have them paired with my phone, so I tried making adjustments to sound quality from within my music app. No luck. I applaud Yamaha for attempting to address a shortcoming of many earbuds: Lack of controls. They have provided the functionality necessary to fully control music playback, adjust volume, and receive phone calls from the buds by combinations of long and short presses, or multiple presses. Depending on what you want to do, you need to press the function button on the left or right earbud. I was initially happy to see those included functionalities. In practice, I found it confusing. I felt like I was trying to learn Morse code. Probably, with regular use the controls would become second nature, but I’m not that patient. Also, the controls are activated by button press rather than simply touch. Pushing the button firmly enough to register a press pushed it uncomfortably into my ear and usually affected the seal/fit. I’ve been a fan of Yamaha audio products since the ‘80s, and I really wanted to love these earbuds, but in the end I do not, and I cannot recommend them.

I rarely give poor reviews. I try to make sure I align my expectations with the price point of the product. I generally realize and expect that cost=performance on a somewhat linear scale. Most of the time, manufacturers deliver a pretty good product when you consider what they cost. That said, these earbuds just don’t live up to my expectations. First the good. There are 5 tip sizes and 3 silicone bodies to choose from. Finding a good fit is pretty easy. They are comfortable to wear. I don’t notice any slipping or moving. The sound is very clean in the mid and high ranges. Vocals are quite clear and the overall sound doesn’t get muddy when you crank it up. I didn’t detect any distortion. Where these buds shine is in low level listening. They definitely out performed my current buds at lower levels. It didn’t take long to learn how to control all of the features. It’s just a matter of memorizing how many times to click the function buttons on each earbud to make it do what you want. Having the little pouch to carry the charging case in is nice. I don’t have to worry about the lid popping open and losing my earbuds in the bottom of a backpack…or worse…somewhere in an airport. The mic works well for phone calls. People on the other end say they can hear me well. I didn’t test them out in the wind, so I’m not sure about that application, but in my house or on a walk in calm weather they worked great. Being able to charge the case on a wireless pad is a nice bonus feature. It does come with a USB-C cable in case you don’t have a wireless pad. No brick included…just the cable. Now…my issues with these earbuds. The first couple are minor… The charging case is bigger than other wireless buds that I own. The lid on the case flips shut too easily. I know that sounds nit-picky. I almost didn’t put it in here, but the more I used them, the more annoyed I got with the lid snapping shut all the time. If I even tilt it forward, gravity takes over and it snaps shut. I had a little trouble with pairing. It immediately goes into pairing mode the first time you open the case. One bud paired but the other one didn’t. Then I couldn’t figure out how to get it back into pairing mode. I went to the instruction manual, which is very tiny, only to find nothing more than a barcode to scan to take me to a website on how to pair. OK…fine…. I’m annoyed but I got to the site and figure it out. Here is where they just lost me. No matter what I did, I just couldn’t get a low range to come through when I crank them up. It’s there, but it’s way lower than other wireless buds that I own and use all the time when out for a run. There is no configuration app that lets you adjust the EQ in the buds, so I went to the settings in my phone. I tried a million combinations of EQ settings and Dolby enhancements. I even tried stock audio straight out of the phone. It just doesn’t sound as good as I think it should, and it’s nowhere near the sound quality of my old buds. I simply can’t hear the base thump that I need to keep me motivated while working out. Mid and High is crystal clear…love it…but there is just not enough low end for my taste…not even close really. The only way I could get the low end I was looking for way to physically jam the buds way down into my ear canal and hold them there. Obviously, that’s not practical or comfortable. So…a bust for me. I tried every combination of tips and sleeves to try and make it work and it just doesn’t give me what I want. The noise canceling and ambient sounds were also a total bust for me. I turned the settings on and off many times while listening to music just to see how it changed the experience. To be frank, I could just barely even tell that I’d made a setting change. It doesn’t really do anything significant in my opinion. I still couldn’t hear oncoming traffic as much as much I had expected when on a run, and the noise cancelling really didn’t block out much more than just having buds stuffed in my ears does in the first place. I don’t know if they simply don’t fit me or what, but I just didn’t see any value in these “features” for my application. So ya…not a fan. I do love Yamaha products. I have a couple of sound bars and such around my home, but this product just isn’t cutting the mustard in my opinion. My old wireless earbuds sound much better.

My first impression was how compact these are from some other premium earbuds. The earbuds have a rubber texture throughout making them water resistant. The sound quality is slightly better than with other popular earbuds in the market right now. True sound allows for a balanced audio feedback. I like that one can choose which earbud to wear at a time, either (L) or (R). The Bluetooth connectivity to my iPhone was a bit confusing at first, with the opted either (L) or (R) connections. Don’t think I’ve seen this option on either the Bose or Jabra earbuds I own. Yamaha packs in these earbuds many functions in its operations for each earbud (L) and (R). Had to remember how many times to press the button for the different functions. Once I got a hang of them, it was easier; for example, each earbud has the options of one tap, two tap, and three tap. One tap to pause play or to answer/ hang up call, two tap to lower or raise the volume. The three taps works to activate noise canceling settings or for Siri/Google voice assistance. The noise canceling felt like it was always on. Or should say I did not notice a hear thru feature. Or maybe I did not see the difference between the ambient or noise canceling. I don’t know, my observation is ambivalent to the testing of this feature. Sounds coming from the outside could not be heard while wearing them. Over all these earbuds bring out clarity to all listening experiences. Well balanced, made with durable material and not to mention a long lasting battery makes these premium earbuds a contender.

In a sea full of true wireless earphones, Yamaha stands out! I own and have owned(tried) several wireless earphones. I would say I am an audiophile to a certain extent. So I focus more so On the sound quality more than battery life and a close second would be the fit and maybe finish. So to start off with sound, I would say these compete very well and are ranked high compared to other leading brands In This price range which is the higher price point but where you get the better overall quality. These have that signature Yamaha sound and tuning. Very warm balanced and clear. The vocals are rich enough like I like it but the bass is just right with the highs being set almost perfectly. To my taste at least. Let’s say it’s more a flat EQ but with great clarity. I’ll say this. Please let these earbuds burn in for a day or 2. You will notice the sound gets better after a day or so. Noise canceling is very good. Not the best but 2nd place IMO. It does block out sounds after you get the ear bud in just right. These are small which is great and the fit very snug and securely. That’s important as I spend a lot of time working out. These WILL NOT fall out I can guarantee that. Great job there. Design is what you would expect from a higher end brand. Solid build and nice design. Simple yet fancy. Battery does last long but charge time does take a while. Tho I charge my electronics every night out of habit anyway. No issues here. Very happy and highly recommend as these check all the boxes for the average person I would assume.

I received these Yamaha - TW-E7A True Wireless Noise-Cancelling Earbuds through the best buy tech insider network to test and give my unbiased opinion on. I must admit I am not a big earbud fan, nor a headphone fan at that. I'm generally active and need to hear and be around my surroundings. However, when I do use them for travel or in the late evenings and I don't want to wake up the family, I like to have a good set. I have several good sets that use my headphone adapter from sony, philips, and jvc, and a nice set of midpriced wireless buds from jvc (I previously reviewed), but this is my first "high end" set. Set up is easy, they come with about 50% charge and it paired to my phone easily by bluetooth. There is a yamaha app for their headphones that is very helpful. It shows percent charge, you can turn on and off noise cancelling and sound and sound enhancement features, and can update firmware. Now for function, these are fairly comfortable, as good as the jvc buds true wireless fitness ones that I like a lot. It took me a moment to get them to feel really secure in my ear, and I had then fall out in my first few tries, but once I got then situated, they stay well. The buttons are offset from the ear canal, so turning volume up and down, pausing, or turning on or off the noise cancelling features works well without shoving the buds into the ear canal. There are several sleeves and tips to add and customize, very nice. The case is compact, and it comes with a very short usbc charging cord. My phone uses a usb c cord, so I use that to charge it. It does have a bag that you can use for storing the extra tips and cord. It does have a nice paper instruction quick guide, but in depth information is digital, which they have a qr code to get you to it with. Now for sound, they are fantastic. I tested them with 2 streaming video services and 2 different audio streaming services, as well as audio files I have saved, and all sound good. From Metal, Rock, Industrial, to Classical and Jazz. The sound is balanced and crisp. It sounds as if it is in the middle of my head. I can hear the details of the instruments and vocal. I hear bass where I should and cymbal an hi-hats where they need to be. Noise cancellation I've played with a lot, and my old ears don't note a huge difference. I barely hear background stuff without earbuds, let alone with them in. The earbuds block the world for me either way. Nearest I can hear, I think the spectrum gets a bit broader to me when the cancellation is on. Overall, a very good set of earbuds, but they better be at this MSRP. 229.95 is a lot. If you are looking at this price of earbuds, you do get what you pay for with these. I know my 75 dollar set sound very good, but these do separate by quite a bit. I am not sure how others with in between pricing sound, but if you are a Yamaha fan, and want an assured good sounding product, these will not disappoint. I do recommend these.
