Customers are saying

Customers praise the WX-010 Wireless Speaker for Streaming Music's sound quality, noting its warm sound and exceeding expectations. The speaker's ease of use and Bluetooth connectivity are also frequently highlighted as positive aspects. While some users experienced occasional software glitches, the compact size and adjustable bass were generally well-received. Overall, the positive feedback on sound and ease of use outweighs concerns about the software.

Sound is great but not easy to keep connected to a receiver. Plus sometimes it breaks up.

Works great standalone, but I bought this speaker to integrate with my Yamaha compatible receiver. I was disappointed in the latency, the sound would periodically fall behind my wired speakers and never catch up. I tested my wifi extensively. My wifi network performance is excellent. Had to return this one.

Love the wireless aspect. Allows me to listen to music in areas without additional system items.

it is great if it connects and works...... pain in the but to make it work properly all the time---- it's not the speaker but the musiccast app that has it's faults......

These speakers would not play stereo even tho they were capable of it and the sound quality was mediocre at best. Took them back and got a pair of Sonos. Wow what a difference can't say enought goo things about Sonos.

Have two of these speakers and they are easy to setup using the app. Have been pleased with the interface with XM through the app and you can easily play from other sources too. Sound was better than I expected. Was happy with original purchase so I bought a second one. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is every once in a while it will mysteriously disconnect from my network and I have to power the speaker on and off to reconnect. Not a huge deal, but it does do it from time to time.

    Up and running in minutes

These are severely discounted due to the WX-021 coming out soon. So I picked one up at Best Buy. I already had a Yamaha RX-A770 receiver, so I already had the MusicCast app up and running. I brought it home, followed the instructions on my phone and it was working in a few minutes. It was easy to link with the two zones on the receiver with the WX-010, so I can listen to CDs or any other receiver input through the WX-010 speaker. The final location for this speaker is my 3 car garage. It filled the room with sound better than I expected. I reduced the rating 1 star because the sound quality is not the best. It is fine for listening to compressed music over the Internet or Bluetooth, especially at the current price.

    Unbelievably BAD

Japanese just can't do software. Both Sony and Yamaha are lousy with their respective casting solutions. Unlike Sonos these two are a constant work to make them work. To top it off both companies are asking crazy money for their devices as if they are the best and only ones on the market. Shame really considering how many input sources they support with only Bluetooth working most of the time. Neither supports LOUDNESS setting so they sound tiny with the bass cranked all the way up. To put the speakers in stereo you need to perform voodoo tricks only to see them unpair the next day.

Doesn't play from Yamaha MusicCast receiver!

From the store information, website, and Yamaha flier in the receiver box, it states "play all your music" even showing the WX-010 wireless speaker. After 6 hours today trying everything, even linking its room to the receiver in the living room, and vice-versa, it will not even read my receiver or HDMI-connected DVD player, let alone play it. The WX-010 appears to be a glorified Spotify or net radio station player, not a wireless speaker for other rooms in my house. Am I missing something here?

Poor customer service "supporting" a poor unit

Do not ignore other reviews complaining about poor Wi-Fi connection. It is true. Could not get it to connect and therefore could not get a firmware update that might have helped. Customer "service" with hold time of 8 minutes, then told the tech folk would call me back in the next 48 hours! So I am supposed to sit with speaker in hand for two days, waiting? Unlike them, I work! Worse than cable TV. Asked for a supervisor, but told they were all in a meeting. That's it. Returning it for a different unit. Yamaha receivers are also noted for poor AirPlay and wireless performance. Not an isolated problem. Just wish customer loyalty meant something these days. Twenty years in and this is the result. Time to rethink it.
