Q: Do you have to leave this plugged in all the time or does it charge and you can unplug?
A: Yes, plugged in all the time to powered via 110 AC (plug directly into a wall outlet). It does not contain a battery, thus no chargeable feature. It does work great and have a nice sound making use of Yamaha MUSICCAST, works nicely with Bluetooth and Airplay. It has a nice sound for this type product and it was fairly easily setup.
A: Yes, you can use the Yamaha SRT 1500 sound base but the speakers cannot be used as a surround sound pair as they don't sync.
