I would compare this to donkey Kong tropical freeze in that it is a great platforming adventure game and also a challenging one. This is a step up from their first release in every way. The game has tight controls and also great music.

The game play is very similar to Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, which is a good thing. The music is relaxing while your playing each level. The over world is a puzzle in itself. If your a fan of DKC you should get this game.

Totally feels like a new version of DK: tropical freeze. Fun over world, great music, and much better than the original Yooka Laylee.

The original Yooka-Laylee was a fun Kickstarter game that was a great throwback to the 90's platforming days of Rare on the N64. This new game plays on that mechanic but more as a Donkey Kong Country style platformer. In this area it succeeds and while not as refined maybe as that game it's still really fun to play. As you play through the game you unlock new abilities and additional health to help you take on the final boss. This boss is able to be challenged from the very beginning of the game but is extremely difficult given the amount of health you have at the beginning of the game. The number of unlockables are also great and fun to try and collect them all.

Great platformer game for the switch. My son is 7 and he enjoyed it. Reminds me of Donkey Kong country tropical freeze but not as challenging. Got it for a great price on black Friday

Very similar to Donkey Kong Country Returns on the Wii U/ Switch. Nice clean graphics, pretty good level design, overall fun game. Not quite up there with DKCR but its a good time. A good homage to classic side scroller platform games on the Super Nintendo.

Hey this one of a few Black Friday purchases that I made, so be mindful I haven't completed the game yet. First/early impressions are that this is a really good game. I purchased the first Yooka-Laylee for Switch. I know that game got a little controversy, but I enjoyed the game. If you also liked Yooka-Laylee, the first game, be mindful that this is a different style of game. It is more of a 2d style platformer similar to the classic Donkey Kong Country, but modernized and some altered perspective sections. If you are expecting it to be like the first game, it isn't in terms of play style. If you are looking to go on more adventures with these characters, then this will be good for you. Good luck!

Normally we see 2d games being translated into 3d, instead they took a love letter to banjo and made a love letter to the OG Donkey Kong. The best part is they took note from BOTW and handed you the ending of the game from the start. The more you play, the "easier" the ending gets. This is one of the hardest, but most rewarding platformer i have personally played.

This is a great 2D side scrolling platformer. Many people compare it to Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, and it's definitely a good game, but I think it's probably a hair shy of it being THAT good. It's unique properties are excellent, though. The overworld puzzles, the different versions of each level, and the collectibles all make the game excellent. Definitely a good buy is you like platformers.

This game is an absolute delight for fans of 2D platformers. From some of the creative minds that gave us the Donkey Kong SNES trilogy, this game is very much in the same vein. Some unique twists, too. I love the overworld concept, which has you solving some puzzles, and transforming levels from the outside. So cool. A definite must-buy!
