I played YL 1 because I needed a Banjo fix and well it was disappointing. But suprisingly this one although more Donkey Kong than Banjo is very good although very tough if you try to go through the impossibl lair from the get go. Which I would say you shouldnt because you would be doing yourself a disservice not playing this.

I played the original 3D Yooka Laylee the minute it released on the Switch. I was a big Banjo Kazooie fan, so the game appealed to me. It had its moments and didn’t receive the highest marks by reviewers. That said, this sequel is incredible as a 2D platformer, with all of the charm that was in the original. It runs well, the graphics are beautiful and it’s just challenging enough.

The first Yooka-Laylee game was alright but this 2D gem is the one to pick up if you want the better game. With most everything being in 3D it was great to see The Impossible Lair get it done in 2D. tight gameplay and a charming aesthetic, if you like a good platformer check Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair out.

If you love the Donkey Kong Country series, this game will be right up your alley. It was made by some of the same geniuses who made the original DKC games and has great music by Rare legends David Wise and Grant Kirkhope.

Great 2.5D platformer. Not quite to the level of a Nintendo made game, but really close.

This is probably one of my best game purchases, I been wanting it since I saw Playtonic's livestream, I was like 50 cents short, so I had to get to my car and get them, I'm not even mad.

If you enjoy Donkey Kong Country, you will enjoy this game as it comes from the people that made those classics. Its a charming platformer with an amazing gimmick where you can play the last level at any time but will most likely be impossible to achieve until you play the game proper.

My great-grandson has just started playing the Nintendo Switch and likes Yooka-Laylee and the other games like that platform. So, when a present is necessary for birthdays, these games are happy makers. He let me play a game with him and BOY, I need to do so practicing!

This is a solid platforming game, but is a departure from the original 3D game. Honestly, I like it better in 2D myself, but I'm a nostalgic old fool. If you are too, this one is highly recommended.

When I read a review that this game is right up there with Donkey Kong, I found it hard to believe. However, after spending several hours I cannot stop playing due to the challenges trying to collect items and difficulty. Very fun with high replay value.

This game is a surprisingly fun Donky Kong Country clone with a lot of charm and new ideas. The games overworld is filled with environmental puzzles and the levels are filled with hidden collectables and secrets. It runs well, looks good and has a lot of content.

If you’re a fan of Donkey Kong Country, you’ll love the Impossible Lair. It has a lot of charm, and controls very well. Certain aspects of the overworld map are a little frustrating, and there are some levels that are a bit monotonous, but overall the game is fun, with the right amount of challenge.

Very enjoyable game. The movement feels so fluid. It is most definitely similar to a Donkey Kong Country game in its quality and polish. Would recommend to 2D platformer fans.
