My wait for this one is over. It was absent from my 1990's Bond DVD collection. This film had the most beautiful, soothing music thru-out. Now on BLU-RAY in DTS 5.1 with DolbyD for the main-menu audio and extras, John Barry's insturmental score sets you up for the main song starting Chapter 3 sung by unknown Leslie Bricusse. She is way better than Shirley Goldfinger. Maurice Binder does his usual high quality work with his signature "Trippy and Sexy MainTitle Design". The locations such as Hong Kong Harbor and Tokyo are cool. My favorite is chapter 17 where Bond fly's around Japanese Islands in a mini helicopter /plane which Q delivers. I can't say enough about this movie, the metal case also makes these Blu-Rays very cool. Another James Bond with metal case "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" has Louis Armstrong singing "We Have All The Time In The World". Great gifts for any true Bond fans.

    A Classic Bond Film

This was Sean Connery's last official outing as James Bond. He thwarts a plot by Blofeld(played by Donald Pleasance) to start a war between the USA, and the USSR. To do this, he travels to Japan where MI-6 believes that all the activity is happening. This is in many ways the typical Bond movie with great stunts, good(for the times) special effects, beautiful women, and good dialogue between Bond and his colleagues and the many villains he encounters. The Blu-ray presentation is fantastic; the studios(MGM and Fox) did a great job of mastering it. It is 2 hours of great fun, suspense, and thrills. Sean Connery was very comfortable in the role(though it was his last time as Bond); and handled it smoothly. I can recommend this not just for Bond, or Connery fans; but, to anyone who enjoys movies. This series of films have lasted for 50 years; this film shows why. The producers, and writers care about the films, and their audience. It doesn't get better than this.

This is one of three of the best of Sean Connery's Bond movies! Set in Japan, this one has Donald Pleasance as the real Dr. Evil type character in the movie that inspired Mike Myers' character in the spoof movie"Austin Powers". Bond's mission is to discover why America's space program is being hi-jacked, before it starts a nuclear war between the U.S. And The Soviets in Russia! Spectre's brilliant plan is carried out from a dormant Volcano on a Japanese island. The Asian Bond girls in this one, and the cool gadgets are second only to the fight scenes! Domo Arrigato Bond-son!!!

    N. Sinatra's Song

This movie is all about Nancy Sinatra's song for me. It's a beautiful tune that works for the Bond montage and speaks for the feel of the movie. Set in Japan, we see the original Bond really living some spy moments, posing as a married man, actually marrying someone. We see a pretty creepy bedtime assassination - it'll cross your mind as you go to sleep. This movie is played serious, with the traditional big set piece finale. This is one of the perfect, classic Bond flicks.

Nostalgic memories, despite the improbable premise

I first saw this as a kid in 1967 during the height of the space race between the US & USSR. While the hidden base in a dormant volcano with a spacecraft launching/landing pad was a cool concept, it drew some skepticism even from my youthful brain at the time. There are other laughable things, such as a 6' 2" hairy-chested Connery trying to pass himself off as a Japanese islander. Despite these detractions, I still have a nostalgic liking for this gadget-laden Bond outing (I always wanted a mini-helicopter like the one Bond flew in that film).

Picked this up to round out my James Bond Blu Ray collection.. First SteelBook purchase - packaging is a nice touch, definitely an improvement over standard packaging as it adds some durability and is more visually appealing.. Would definitely recommend the steelbook edition at the same price as the standard version No issues with audio or video quality related to the transfer. Haven't checked out the special features yet, of which there are some but not a great deal of.

A lot of people love Goldfinger and from Russia with love, but this film to me is the signature Bond Film. From the music to the story and action, this film was easily the blueprint for all future spyfilms and even austin powers. The transfer is better than dvd but considering how old the film is, you can't expect much more of an improvement.

Buying a DVD means you'll want to see the movie again at some point. But actually when you consider the cost to rent online, you still come out just about ahead, because this is one of those movies you'll enjoy a second time. While the movie may seem a bit dated, that's part of the draw. And Sean Connery is still one of the top actors to play Bond.

Best Buy is always the BEST BUY! Best price. Plus I love bond movies. It was the lowest price for bond movies on black friday, so cannot resist. I love "YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE", due to I love: song by sinatra, love japan, and connery, and remember it from when I saw it as a 7 year old. But glad I bought this at Best Buy. Thanks, Best Buy.

Cover art is evocative of Maurice Binder's opening credits. Steelbook packaging is sturdy, sleek, and fits securely upright on shelf. Video and audio quality are first rate. Special features are wide-ranging, with high marks going to the multi-person commentary track. This "Bond" merits an AA rating.

007 goes all out in shooting and fighting in a cave looking for Blofeld, alive once again, with a group of ninjas. Does it get any better than that? Anyways, you have the beautiful Mie Hama as Kissy Suzuki, God bless her and you have Bond training to pass as a ninja which is pretty cool.

When I was a kid, I would watch this Bond film so much. Awesome actionn scenes and classic gun fights. Such a great Bond film. I'm glad I found a copy on DVD for such a great price because I only had it on VHS. Must buy for Bond fans and Sean Connery Bond films.

The collectible steelbook case for this movie is amazing! Great for the Bond fan or to those who haven't purchased this movie. You Only Live Twice is a classic Bond film. Watching these movies now is like a time capsule to how things were back in the day.

The last great Connery imo. It did introduce "the ninja" to American audiences as it's claim to fame also. This is one of those steels that doesn't look that great until you see it with your own eyes. Very pretty in person.

Yup. Spectre was an unfortunately dull film. You want to see real Blofeld, you better watch this film. Plus, you'll suddenly understand Austin Powers a lot more after seeing this. Plus Roald Dahl, wrote the screenplay, you need to watch this.

Not surprisingly, this is just like the DVD only in high def with great colors. Doesn't change the movie but makes it much more enjoyable to watch. While I am not that much into cases, the steel case is quite attractive.
