Ys games Have always had a fun action battle system where you can move around and control one of three characters in your party.

Ive never heard of these developers or this series.. i dove in anyway and just.. Wow! One of my favorite ps4 games to date.

Ys 8 is another great entry to the series and one of my favorites. It improves upon the style that they started using in Ys Seven and the new engine makes the combat much more enjoyable. Has an enjoyable story and characters to go along with it all.

I'm only 12 hours into this game so far and am no where near even close to completing everything. Amazing game!

Great battle mechanics. Awesome visuals. If your a fans of Star Ocean or the Tales series, I would recommend picking this up.

I love the story of this game! When I realized that I was going to be on one island the whole time I was worried, but there’s so much to do. I gave it 4 stars because graphical weirdness, and the controls are wonky sometimes. If you love tales of you’ll love this too!

Make sure you patch it. The ordinal version is full of all sorts of translation mistakes and errors. The game play itself is great and the patch fixed a lot of the mistakes.

Really good story line between most characters, graphics are good, game loading is smooth, great ability to change difficulty for different skilled players.

Apparently I did, which is why I bought the game. It isn't the best RPG ever to grace the field with its presence, but let's be honest with ourselves; it's quite playable regardless. The story is excellent and I enjoyed the fact that they never once reveal who Luke's father actually is. If you look closely, one of the clouds look like a cheeseburger biting the head off of a chicken. Clearly a commentary on our reliance as a society on fast food and protein.

Ys VIII went under the radar of many gamers save for its loyal fanbase & hardcore JRPG players. The game's story starts off pretty slow but it picks up eventually. The meat, bread & potatoes of this game is honestly its combat... which probably seems repetitive to some, it is actually really fun. Please, give this game a try... its a hidden gem no JRPG fan will want to miss IMO.

I love the story begins and has great graphics and lot of action and will recommend to my friends on PlayStation network.

This is my first Ys game, but it really makes me want to play more. The combat is very fast-paced and fun. I like the characters, but I can't really say they went much beyond anime tropes, and the story is fine, but it didn't really grip me. Also, the game felt like it got off to a fast start with 3 party members in like the first couple of hours, but it slows down for quite a bit until the plot kicks in. But overall, none of those flaws are good enough reason to not buy the game. I can't think of any in fact, unless you're not a fan of JRPGs, or ARPGs.

The Ys series is an amazing one, and hearing about this is the one that got me engaged in it. From Ys Origin to Ys IX, all of them have been great experiences, and Lacrimosa is one of the best. Whether you're a series veteran or brand new, don't be daunted, as the games have common lore but segregated stories that allow you to hop in at any point should you wish to. Please, give this series a shot!

This is a great action RPG! The controls are solid the story is good. The graphics are good also.

One of my the best games of the year! I’m not a big fan of action RPGs like this game but this one definitely a great game. I am already looking forward for the next installment.

Once I realized I was going to be on an island the whole time during this game I got worried I was going to hate it. I loved it though. I let my friend borrow it and he really liked it too. I like the battle system. It reminded me a lot of the battle system in tales of games. Obviously there are a lot of differences, but the way you attack and use artes are similar. I loved all of the characters. Ricotta was my favorite!
