However, some customers find the case heavy and pricey, and a few have reported issues with the hinge mechanism. While most find the fit secure, some users experienced difficulty with opening, closing, and removing the iPad.

This keyboard/case is absolutely what i was looking for! The apple key board offered no protection whatsoever ever, and for somebody like my self who is terrible with electronics, i needed something wayyy more protective....ESPECIALLY for the money apple was asking...this ZAGG Rugged keyboard folio case (although a mouthful) offers extreme protection and also usefulness with its keyboard...my only complaint is that its a bit top heavy (?) if that makes sense....because it tends to tip over easily but if ur paying attention and being careful its still way more useful in my opinion....

This was the first case we have purchased since 2009. Bought my husband a new iPad and needed a good sturdy case since he takes it everywhere. It definitely lives up to the Zagg reputation...very strong, sturdy and easy to you. You feel like you have protection for your iPad with this case. It does everything it promised and my husband loves it. It states you can drop from 6 feet and it will be fine but we're not going to test that out. And it was on sale! Love Zagg.

Good sturdy case. I like that you can separate the keyboard from the tablet. Not to mention the key board lights up for night time enjoyment.

This is my second zagg for the same iPad. The hinge on the first one stopped working...it came apart. I bought the second one and the same thing happened. I don't think I will buy another. Minimal use.

The ZAGG Rugged Keyboard Folio case series is the most reliable, sturdy, functional and generally useful iPad Air 2 case available at Best Buy (well worth the price).
I had an older version of this (specifically Model: ID6RGK-BBO, SKU: 9869101) for my iPad Air 2 for nearly a full year (quite a feat, considering the many other keyboard-detachable/drop-safe/iPad-stand cases I tried - which all fell apart in a few weeks or less). With the old case, I was super impressed with how FEW times I needed to charge the keyboard (2 maybe 3 times total over the whole year, and that’s with me using the backlit lights daily) as well as how long the hinge lasted (that stands the iPad up). As a college student, I probably use my iPad an average of 8+ hours a day for homework/personal use.
The only reason why I got this new model now (and left behind the old one) was because the old model’s hinge was getting a little loose after a year, but it did still hold my iPad up at a 90 degree angle (many of the other angles were too loose to hold it up anymore). I had dropped it a couple times too over the past year, and my iPad never got a scratch/crack.
In terms of this newer version, it seems exactly the same so far except for two features: the volume buttons and backlit key options. The old version had only-white backlit keys and the black case completely covered the outer buttons (but were indented and a little thinner to indicate/access their location). This new version has 6 new color options for backlit keys (plus white, making 7) and has completely exposed iPad volume buttons. The new colors are really neat, but I’m not a big fan of the exposed volume buttons.
While the old covered-buttons were kinda hard to press due to the case rigidness, they were more easily accessable than with this new exposed design. The exposed area may look big, but due to where the iPad Air 2 sits in the case it takes a slim fingertip to reach and press the volume buttons (rather than the whole pad of a finger, like with the old design). No, my iPad can’t be pushed in any farther to close this gap. As a relatively small-sized female though, it’s not impossible for me to change the volume with this new case.
For those interested, the backlit key color options with this new model are: neon green, navy blue, teal/light-blue, pale yelow/green?, apple red, pale purple, and the classic white.
Overall, the ZAGG Rugged Keyboard Folio case series is the most reliable, sturdy, functional and generally useful iPad Air 2 case available at Best Buy (well worth the price). The only other thing I wish this case could do, is have a vertical viewing option as well as a horizontal one (as a stand). However, if you decide to try/buy any other case, I highly recommend that you get a protection plan for it as well.

I bought my husband an iPad for Christmas and decided to buy him a heavy duty case so there would be no chance of him breaking it... He dropped it ONE time and it shattered the screen. The case didn't work at all and was a HUGE waste of money. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, IT DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!!!

Here’s why I’m giving it four stars: This thing makes your iPad weigh as much as a full-size computer. Of course, it wouldn’t be as rugged if it weighed less.
Pros:
— Heavy-duty protection
— A solid keyboard with real keys that is easy to type on, even for those with fairly large hands (like me)
— The part protecting the iPad itself can release from the keyboard, letting you use it as a traditional tablet
— The battery life is insane. If you don’t use the keyboard much, it’ll hold a charge for two years!
Cons:
— It’s heavy
— And ugly
— The hinge seems to be the weakest part. I could see it loosening up to the point where it won’t hold your iPad in an upright position.
Otherwise it’s great.

Always used Logitech until it wore out. Wanted a keyboard/cover combo and this was the only one in stock for the iPad Air 2. Pros: very rugged (as the name implies), holds tablet firmly in place, great keyboard for typing, love the backlit keyboard, love having an on/off switch to conserve the battery. Cons: VERY heavy, no dedicated key for screen shots (miss that from Logitech), more expensive than Logitech. So far, so good. We’ll see how it holds up over time.

Great cover and keyboard for the Ipad. This newer Zagg model now fits the "newest/latest model" 9.7 Ipad and it fits extremely well. The keyboard functions very well and holds a super long charge. Recommended for people that really want to protect their device. It is heavier than most other cases/keyboards, but I prefer the protection.

This case is wonderul and everything that I wanted in an iPad case. It protects the iPad, it detached from the keyboard. It connects seamlessly. The battery life is fantastic. Despite my wide hands, this keyboard is still very capable of keeping up with my mail, pages, and google docs usage. The illuminated keyboard is a nice touch in low light situations. The hinge is magnetic and is very strong and holds the iPad in place and at my desired viewing/typing angle.
My only gripe is the price at $129. But because this was the only case that met all my needs, I paid the price. I would easily purchase this again if it were $80-100.

I won’t go full review mode on you, but I will say that this keyboard case is quite the build. Some have had issues with the case’s hinge, but I don’t find that to be an issue. (So far) However, I will say that Best Buy did offer a protection plan for two years, so I went ahead and got that just to be safe. Also ZAGG has great customer service as well and I made sure to register the product on their website.
The Case itself, is sturdy and I feel confident that I wont break my iPad if I were to drop it. Keyboard took a while to get used to, but once I did, I was at my normal pace in typing. Backlight is a nice touch and I didn’t know it had different colors as well! Super excited about that.
The magnets are strong, and the hinge. (So far) is nice and sturdy.
I recommended this case, and spend the extra for the protection. The case is pricey and doesn’t have a place for my Apple Pencil, would be my only gripe. Overall, GREAT CASE

This keyboard case has been put to the test over the past 4 months. Used daily for my mobile job, endured multiple drops (with no damage to my iPad), and constant open/closure. The features are great, especially the backlit keyboard and the long lasting battery (which has only needed to be charged once in the past 4 months!). Although adds a little weight and thickness, the protection and features are well worth it.

I was hesitant at first because I’ve always protected my iPads with a Logitech case. But I’m going to consider a ZAGG case in the future. I have had it since September, and by far, it’s the best case I’ve ever owned.! It’s ability to detach and attach to a keyboard is a new found necessity now. I love the RGB lighting! And the keyboard feels nicely spaced and not so compact when I type. Don’t pass up on this. Oh, another thing to note why I was hesitant was because it didn’t have a pencil holder. (Bought a pencil holder and rigged it to my needs.) and also having to charge the keyboard. The case states it will last up to 2 years in between charges. But I assume that doesn’t consider when you use the backlighting. Still an amazing case.

This is my second Zagg keyboard. The use my first one got was brutal—the case was demolished after years of use; however, the keyboard itself still worked. When I got my new iPad a year ago, I purchased a non-Zagg keyboard which didn’t even last a year. This time around, I went back to a Zagg and got the upgraded Rugged version. It’s a little heavier (and slightly more expensive) than the original model I had, but probably better-suited for my use (my iPad goes with me everywhere). I like that it is rechargeable (unlike that non-Zagg one which was supposed to last 4 years...). This one is supposed to be able to go 2 years before needing a charge (but I plug it in occasionally if I happen to think about it). Also, supposed to be able to withstand a 6 ft. drop, I believe. I love the different color backlight options—slightly different method to change the colors than my old Zagg. Overall, love this one and the feel of the case. Would definitely recommend.

This case is nice. The only downside might be that it’s a bit heavy. That’s great for me because I want a rugged set up. If you want lightweight, go with something else. The keyboard feels good. It holds a charge forever (like weeks). Try and catch it on sale

I highly recomend this product. This Keyboard folio will protect you Ipad amazinly well. The Ipad will basically becomes a laptop very handy and portable. Yes, it may be some kind of heavy but as long my device is well protected I can live with it. The keyboard it feels good of quality and it has good travel, it does not feeel cheap at all. The folio its very strong and sturdy, I will buy it again and again. If you are looking for an excelent folio case, I highly recomended this one. I checked the reviews at You Tube, and believe, I am not dissapointed at all.

Zagg rugged keyboard case definitely out performs the Logitech Create iPad Pro keyboard case. I had the Logitech for about 3 months in my backpack only case cracked on upper left corner. This did not affect case from retaining iPad. The follow up issue is the smart connector became intermittent and eventually stopped working. The Bluetooth interface did not work after multiple attempts to connect. There is a slight weight difference between the Zagg and Logitech but Quality is more important. I been using past three months at home and on travel with no complaints. Only charged keyboard once and still going strong.

Picked this up at a local store today and so far I really like it. Yes, it adds some bulk and weight to the iPad however, I like the fact that this feels well protected as a result. Typing is easy to do and there is no noticeable lag when typing. Pairing was a breeze. I have owned similar Zagg keyboard folios in the past but this one is much better than the old version on my original iPad 3. Only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because it does not have any latching mechanism when everything is closed up. Even then, I would be picky about how that goes together. Definitely recommend this to someone looking for a rugged case and tactile typing solution.

I went into the store to purchase a protector for my iPod. I use an Otter Box for my iPhone and this seems to be as rugged with a key board to boot! Now I have a mini lap top. Convienent and easy to use. It takes a concerted effort to remove the iPod from the keyboard so this is an awesome product. No reason to worry about inadvertent separation. Keeping Blue Tooth on all the time does not seem to affect the battery life, so this is a winner in all aspects.
