Great Keyboard Folio for the 10.5”iPad Pro

The Keyboard embedded in this Folio, with its LED Backlit Keys is excellent - good feel and travel distance to the keys and the LED's really help in the dark. The Folio itself is VERY heavy and very thick - with the 10.5” iPad Pro in the case, the whole thing feels like it weighs 5lbs or more! The magnetic kickstand backing is OK, but not great on uneven surfaces - must use on flat, solid surfaces, regardless of whether you are using the Keyboard or not. The Keyboard does not have an easy ON/OFF button/switch - you hold down the Power Button until it powers-down, but if you're in a hurry this isn't ideal; plus, if you have the Keyboard portion folded back behind the iPad for setting your unit in your lap, it's very easy to accidentally hit the Power Button and turn the Keyboard back ON without realizing it, or when picking-up the Folio with the Keyboard folded behind you can also finger the Power Button without meaning too and turn the Keyboard ON and get a bunch of false inputs on your iPad. On the plus side, your iPad feels like it's armored when inside the Folio, and the Apple Pencil holder at the top of the iPad shell works very well. The iPad itself feels very secure inside its fitted shell and all of the buttons and speakers work well within this shell. Overall, it's one of the better 10.5” iPad Pro Keyboard Folios on the market, but has a few things (which have been in other, older iPad Keyboard Folios, before, by Zagg and Targus) which could be included/improved to make it that much more useful and comfortable to carry.

The battery last me 3 weeks without a charge. It comes with a case for my iPad and it’s super durable. So easy to type and connects with the features of the iPad. I.e there is a lock button on the keyboard. I love this better than the apple keyboard and it’s super affordable.

Ordered this as a preorder. Just got it today and messed with it a little. I've had Zagg iPad covers before so I know the keyboards are great! This is no exception. Feels comfortable typing and has way more functions than other iPad keyboards. It is heavier but I expected that due to the fact it is "rugged". The iPad and its cover itself comes off easily from a magnified confection to use by itself. It then goes back on easily. The magnets on the back to hold the stand are strong. This helps it to feel sturdy while typing on an uneven surface like your lap. The area that holds the Apple Pencil is secure and out of the way. The pencil stays put and doesn't flop around like I've seen on other cases. In my opinion this is the perfect case if you truely want to use your iPad Pro 10.5 as a laptop while still having the capability to easily remove it from the keyboard to use as a conventional iPad. All this while protecting your iPad in a very sturdy and snug case.

    Great Keyboard, but heavy

I bought this keyboard case sight unseen for three reasons. One, there were only 3 keyboard cases to choose from. Two, I have had a Zagg keyboard in the past and I liked it. Three, My last iPad Pro had the Logitech Keyboard Case which I liked but broke on me 2 times. What I didn’t know about this Keyboard Case is that it really is two units in one. There is a backing that snaps onto the iPad itself and protects the iPad. It also has the pencil holder built in. That is the first piece. The second piece is the keyboard folder. I call it a folder because the part that snaps onto the iPad fits inside the second piece like placing a piece of paper in a folder. The iPad is then secured to the inside spine of the folder via a strong magnet. Carrying the iPad around in this configuration gives your iPad the most protection as they keyboard covers the screen and the back of the folder and the snap on case covers the back of the iPad. This configuration is very heavy and it’s not recommended to keep the keyboard folder on the iPad when you want to walk around and hold it in your hand. Your arm will get tired very fast. The snap on case provides enough protection and keeps your iPad light for when you just want to read or use your pencil. The keyboard itself works great but I only recommend keeping it on your iPad when you throw it in your bag or need to type. I was skeptical about getting a keyboard for an iPad Pro that didn’t use the smart connector. Now that I’ve tried this one, I don’t think it is a big deal at all. The keyboard will power on via the power button or if you just start typing on the keys so there really isn’t much delay when you want to type. The advantage of having a Bluetooth keyboard like this one is that you can also pair it to your iPhone so you can quickly switch from texting on your phone and working on your reports. According to Zagg, the battery of the keyboard is supposed to last two years. If that is true, that takes the hassle out of using a Bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard is supposed to be “backlit” but the letters don’t actually light up. The light comes from around the keys and provides some reflective light. The light does stay on longer than my Logitech Keyboard that uses the smart connector so that is a plus. The keys have a nice feel and are spaced far enough apart that its easy to type on. Bottom line, I recommend this keyboard case over the Logitech Slim and the Apple Keyboard. Just keep in mind that this is designed to be transported and used for its keyboard as a single unit, but when you need to pick it up and hold it, you really need to separate the snap on shell from the keyboard folder so your arm doesn’t wear out. It’s actually a smart design but you just have to embrace that way of thinking.

recently upgraded from an iPad Air 2 to the iPad Pro 10.5. I had used a Zagg Rugged Book keyboard case on the Air 2 for a couple of years so that is my primary point of comparison. the Good + The Rugged Messenger is lighter than the Rugged Book + The case covering the back of the tablet is better when using it one-handed. + The incedible battery life for the keyboard is still there (based on Zagg's claims - I have not had it long enough to test that) + The keyboard is very good although these things are always very personal choices so you may not agree. + It is easier to remove the iPad Pro from the protective cover. The Rugged Book made it a real chore. The Bad - The rugged Book added weight to the iPad Air but it allowed me to have the convenience of a laptop-keyboard when using it on a desk or in my lap. The Rugged Messenger uses the now familiar folding back cover to hold the iPad screen when on a desk but making it difficult to use in your lap or any not-too-flat surface. There are times I like the new functionality of this case and times I hate it. Time will tell.

Great, Strong IPad Keyboard Potective Case

This is a solid, very strong and protective IPad Keyboard Case. I shopped and read reviews on several top brand Keyboard Cases for the IPad Pro 10.5, the Zagg Rugged Messenger reviews were more positive than the others. I finally decided to go to Best Buy and take my IPad. I tried three Keyboard Cases:Logitech Slim Combo, Apple Smart Keyboard and Zagg Rugged Messenger Keyboard Case. After fitting my IPad in each case several times, I decided to purchase the Zagg Messenger Keyboard Case. I liked how my IPad was more protected with the Zagg, I liked the way the keys on the keyboard were spaced more like a laptop Keyboard and the keyboard back lights are just awesome. I had no problem setting up the Bluetooth, and the support stand works wonderful in any of the position’s I put it in (very strong). I’ve had the keyboard case about a month and uses it everyday, the battery still shows full charge, it advertise to last two years. I got the case at a great sale price at Best Buy. The case is a bit heavy, but I’ll take that because the case provides excellent protection for my IPad. Finally this is a great case and it was exactly what I was looking for after trying several other ones.

Very pleased with this keyboard case. keyboard works great. connects very easily. Like the backlit keyboard, which you can turn on or off and changing colors is pretty fun. couple of other comments said you couldn't use in your lap. That is wrong. Works great in your lap or desktop. Only thing I can figure out that other who had issues with that must have propped screen up incorrectly. If you prop up screen as shown in instruction there is no issue. At first i folded flap wrong way and it wouldn't work. Once i folded flap other way worked like a charm. Pencil holder works great. Removing and replacing iPad from keyboard is very easy and nice option to have. It is a little bulky when all together but not bad. Case feels very sturdy and I'm sure will offer good protection if dropped. Very pleased with this product.

There was a negative review that said when the Apple Pencil was inserted into the case you could not reach the volume keys. I do not find this to be a problem at all with the case but one of the owner. All you need to do is turn the pencil around so the tip of it is what is next to the volume keys. Hmmm... not an issue at all is it? Is it a little bit on the heavy side? But it’s a rugged case with keyboard; I don’t know what else would be expected. It’s not like the case adds 5 pounds. Of course it’s going to feel heavy because the iPad Pro 10.5 itself is so light. If Apple could make it more durable and as light as it is now... don’t you think Apple would have already done that? I’ve bought several cases and tossed them aside because they just weren’t right. Also when I was purchasing this there was a display on top of the counter. It had this case and all the competition cases laid out so you could view and touch them. This is the only case that did not have some random item resting below it so it would not slide off the counter. Being a frequent traveler this made me think of airplane trays. Will I be afraid to relax on a flight in fear of dozing off and not holding onto my iPad only to awaken as it crashes on the aisle or floor? Well, I will never have to worry about that because I know this case will stay put on an incline. That was the deciding factor for me at the store. If it can not stay put on a slight incline how in the world is it going to stay on an airplane tray with a bump or two of turbulence. Given the price, the features, the protection and the feel of a decent keyboard this case is a 5. It truly is a nice setup. I have nothing negative to say. Just glad I found a case that will keep my constant companion safe and let me accomplish a few more tasks that my laptop previously had to do because I needed a keyboard. This case... a 5 and a no brainer.

Seems to fill the bill as a usable keyboard. Still not perfect for larger hands. Cursor keys work just like cursors should, for text editing. Apple still needs to get off its high horse and allow a trackpad on this platform. Changeable key color lights are envy of family, especially with those who are just getting a lit keyboard only. Have already recommended it, and am currently typing on a lap with no issues. Only wonder about longevity of magnets. Very protective, if a little heavy to carry. Reliable pen holder. Surprising good batttery life on iPad make the Bluetooth connection not a real issue. If only Zagg offered a version using the hardware connection. Overall, very satisfied, which is not a common occurrence nowadays.

I purchased this case for my iPad Pro 10.5 because I wanted more protection than the standard keyboard covers & cases that Apple has. I call this a 2 N 1 case because you can detach it from the keyboard and it still has protection. I love the fact that the keyboard is not only back lit, but you can also change the colors! Now it does add a little bulk and weight but for my investment this was the one for me.

Best protective case for the iPad Pro 10.5

Overall a good case. The big strength is that it provides the best protection by far of any keyboard case out there. Its a little bulky, but not bad. It also has a backlit keyboard with 7 colors. That said I found connecting and disconnecting it with Bluetooth something of a pain. Connecting it to bluetooth I often found could be hit or miss; and when I wanted to use it as just a tablet disconnecting it sometimes took as long. There'd also be times where I'd lose a connection while using it. Also, the tray the iPad goes in is fine; but seems like it could break if you're not careful. I would probably give this 3.5 stars if I could; but I will round up to 4 because it is a good product and other people may have better luck than I did. That said, it's not expensive and when it works it's fine. I'm not sure if Zagg plans to make a super-rugged case like they do for other iPad and iPad Pro models; but that would be a better solution, and I think the demand is there for it.

Not only does this case provide heavy-duty protection, it also makes my life so much easier when it comes to using my iPad Pro for work. It's automatically connected, comfortable on my tender fingers, and has every function I would need from a keyboard (brightness, volume, locking the screen, multitasking, etc.). It also says that the keyboard's charge lasts for two years. Can't beat that! There are two down sides-both of which I can tolerate: 1. It does add some weight to your device. 2. It doesn't come with a keyboard cover to help protect the keyboard from crumbies (if you are eat as you work type of gal). You will be so glad you purchased this accompanying blue-tooth keyboard and case.

I tried Bluetooth keyboards before, and they weren’t too good. This one though types very well and quietly. I like the multiple viewing angles, and the pencil holder is nice too. It’s a bit on the heavy side, but not that bad at all. This is a great folio keyboard case for the money.

This is the best cover and external laptop I have purchased...also..the most expensive. I used it on a trip to Greece and was pleasantly surprised by the differences between this and the other Logitech keyboard combo, the Targus cover and the one that claimed to be military tough (so bad I won’t name it). This cover just provides external protection, the keyboard connection is great and you can do it one handed without and worries. When you watch a movie or color or word process all the keys are responsive and backlit immediately. No need to charge it because it draws a small amount of juice from the iPad (I mean it never caused a noticable dip in battery life and I left it connected for a week). When closed it has a magnetic response and stays shut even after shaking it to test if it would come apart...surprised it didn’t (the targus failed this test and the military fake one didn’t even stay closed when it was supposed to). Pros responsive, easy to setup because there is none, has a holder for the Apple Pencil, it feels sturdy, magnetic keyboard and closure Cons expensive (when compared to the keyboard only from apple it is a deal), the Apple Pencil is held but the cap fell off and was gone (kinda a 80% knock on the Apple Pencil being made that way and 20% for the holder not covering the whole Pencil), it makes your iPad heavy (it is noticeably heavier when both pieces are attached and since there is no battery in it, and it is so slim in design not sure why) I highly recommend this tough combo. It is slim, great design and has great function.

I had been debating an iPad purchase to replace my old MacBook Pro for over 2 years. I finally made the call when they were running a special on the iPad Pro 10.5. My biggest issue with the iPad has just been my comfort with the traditional feel of a laptop. This case has been my savior. I wish it had the smart connect, but as for a bluetooth keyboard it is pretty awesome. The battery on this is fantastic. It reconnects within a few seconds, it is very rugged, but not overly bulky or heavy, and the Apple Pen holder is a great added bonus. Plus, who doesn't love different color LED backlights when typing?

The over-all devise is good. I like the keyboard and how it handles opposed to Apple Keyboard however the keys are suppose to light up and it did initially. Didn't charge adequately. I exchanged for a new device and am experiencing the same problem. Very disappointing as it is a great feature when it works. The other item is the weight. It's pretty darn heavy. As a woman I wish it wouldn't look so masculine and industrial never the less, the product itself serves its purpose well and I will keep it because I like the keyboard much more than Apple device.

I’m very happy with this purchase. It was on sale and seemed like a good deal, so I bought it at the same time as I bought my iPad. The case attaches to the iPad and the fit is very good. It has a holder for an Apple Pencil. The case attaches magnetically to the keyboard and stays put very well. It all folds closed very nicely and protects the iPad well. The keypad is comfortable to use and makes writing e-mails or surfing the web a bit easier. Have not had to recharge the battery after about 6 weeks of use. Very pleased.
