Zagg & Best Buy should be ashamed of Product

Please make sure you run as fast as you can from this product. Here I saved money to buy myself an ipad and of course you want to protect the device. I purchased this cover after asking the sales associate if it would mute the screen colors. No it won't. Ok, since I didn't want smudges, fingerprints or glare...and most important, the colors wouldn't be muted, I purchased it. I had the geek squad put it on (another $15) but worth it in my opinion. They had the device off when it was done with installation and I didn't think to check it over. Geek Squad also said NOT to touch the cover for a day so it would settle. Ok, no problem. When I did turn it on, the screen looked polluted as the colors were like pixels and very dull. It felt like my eyes were blurry. I changed the brightness to no better advantage. People I showed it to at work were horrified by the look of it.

This Zagg shield may reduce the amount of smudging, but its anti-glare property distorts the image to the point that it's grainy and extremely hard on the eyes. I had to remove it after a week because it caused eyestrain, and made working with drawing apps and anything requiring precision impossible. I'd really like my money back, it was a total waste.

So disappointed

I had read a few articles about how awesome the Zagg screen protector material was for the iPad. How the material was used for military applications and it's indestructable and "healed" itself.
Unfortunately, this was not at all what I experienced. In the end it was a big fat waste of $40. The main problems are:
1. Just could not get past how horrible and distorted it made my screen look. I guess it's OK for watching a movie but trying to read any print was just plan blurry and annoying.
2. Within a week there were multiple scratches on the protecor. I guess to be fair they were smaller than when they first occurred but I don't feel that they should have occurred in the first place - I'm not hard on iPad. I was using an iVisor by Moshi screen protector and was even able to let my cat (with claws) play on the screen without any scratches at all to the iVisor. I wouldn't dream of letting him play with the Zagg.
3. I actually paid for professional installation to ensure that there were not bubbles. The iVisor is simple enough to install myself. This was the best part of the whole purchase. The guy got it on right the very first time.
4. It added a very different texture to the screen. While this was great for using my note writing app (feels almost like paper) it was not great for flicking and scrolling.
I will be going back to using the iVisor AG and recommend the same to any and all who ask.
Cheers!

Had to install twice. First time there were too many bubbles, even after 2 days. Second time, I used lots of solution and was a little less gentle with the process. The second time the bubbles did go away. However. It is not clear, especially when it is white background and black text, there is a pixel effect. Not pleased with this, may get non-glare one.

Won't buy Zagg again

After having a fairly good experience with the Zagg invisible shield for the IPad 1, we decided to get this one for the new iPad since it is not supposed to show finger prints or the glare like the first one does. It does show finger prints, although not as much as the first, and actually is glare free. the main problem as others have said is that it gives a significant prism effect and also is not as clear as the original version. When I contacted Zagg about it they offered to send me a replacement, however, when I accepted this offer, I was suddenly informed that I had to pay to have it shipped to me and would have to pay to ship the original one back or be charged full price. I pulled it off and threw it away. $35 dollar lesson. I wouldn't even buy this for someone I did not like.

I only wish I had read the reviews before spending the $35 (and wasting my Reward Zone certificates) for this product and end up thoroughly disappointed. If I could give it negative star ratings I would! Especially since it's one of the screen protectors offered in stores, I expected this product to be the best and one Best Buy would highly recommend for the iPad2. Boy was I wrong.
Installing screen protectors is never easy, and you have to be patient. So no complaints there; it is what it is. However, when I turned my iPad on, the resolution of the screen was compromised! "Invisible", really?! The screen now looks grainy and highly pixelated; definitely not what I want to look at every time I use my new iPad! The instructions say to give it 2-3 days to really settle, and that all the imperfections will work their way out. I decided to search for reviews on the product trying to validate if the poor visual quality was a result of my installation error. But in reading the reviews, the pixelated/grainy screen is a common theme, I am very skeptical that the quality of the image will improve after a couple of days!
What's even more disappointing is I doubt I can return it to the store. I have not been disappointed with my purchases from Best Buy... until now.

We bought two of these and had them installed by BB on brand new iPads. From the very beginning they were blurry and grainy, something we were told would go away. It never went away. Over the period of a couple months they also got dirty, SMUDGED, and generally became even more blurry. We totally wasted $60+ dollars per iPad. The lifetime warranty is worthless as I wouldn't even bother again since they were useless from day one. Not sure why BB is carrying so much Zagg stuff since it is obviously an inferior product. Went to temporary screen protectors like we have always used on our iPhones and the difference was remarkable. My recommendation is to stay away from anything from Zagg, even if it means a store other than BB.

I expected this to be easier/better than cheaper screen protectors due to the price, but had many of the same issues that you would have with a much cheaper one. Specifically, you still get a lot of bubbles that you have to work out - the spritzer they provide helps with this some, but it still takes a lot of work to get them out. Also, after I got it installed, I discovered (horrors!) that a cat hair had gotten trapped underneath. I gently peeled the protector back & tried to remove the hair with a pair of tweezers. Despite re-spraying the protector with the spritzer, you can still see both where the hair was, and the "line" from where I peeled the protector back. I had high hopes for this, but in the future, I will probably just buy a cheaper one (you know, the disposable ones where you can get 3 for $10) and spritz it with window cleaner to help work out the bubbles.

I bought this product because my children enjoy using the iPad. First of all, it is not easy to put on, though I was able to get 97% of the bubbles out of it. The Best Buy employee did warn me of this and informed me that they would put it on for me, but for a $16 charge - ridiculous. Secondly, it is NOT smudge-free. It does clean fairly easily, though, but no more easily than the iPad screen itself.

Installation was such a pain. The spray that comes with it and the adhesive left terrible residue on the screen leaving noticeable marks underneath. After several attempts and repeating the remove and reclean the screen process, I finally turn the iPad back on the see a grainy screen with muted colors. The picture is terrible. And, for $35! Total waste of good money!

I didn't realize it would give the screen a fuzzy look. It is difficult to read fine print. I am not happy with the quality of it with the high price that I paid for it. Would not recommend.

Installation of this screen protector was extremely difficult. I almost tossed it in the trash before I finally got it straight on the device. The price is also too high for what you get.

I purchased the smudge-proof Zagg shield and paid to have it installed. I am very picky about things being straight and hate bubbles under the screen. I was extremely happy with the installation, and was very glad I didn't atttempt it myself. However, the shield itself is horrible. Not at all clear, all text is very blurry. If you look at anything on a light colored background, there appears to be a fine mesh of tiny pink and green pixels in front of whatever you are looking at. HD display ruined by this screen protector. I called Zagg to see if this was something thay may decrease over time as it "cures". They said that most people who buy the smudge-proof cover don't like it and said to return it to Best Buy. I was afraid I would get a hassle for returning it after it was installed, but they couldn't have been nicer about it. Swapped to the clear, re-installed, and refunded the difference in price. Now that's good service!!! Buy the clear one, pay for installation, and you will be happy.

I really wanted to love this screen protector. I installed it myself. It was difficult, but take a few deep breathes, muster up a bit of patience (and maybe a glass of wine) and the average joe will do just fine. I was disappointed with the look of the screen from the onset, but thought maybe it would stop looking so fuzzy given a little time. No go. I tried it for a month and when I removed it I fell in love with my iPad all over again!
If you are hard on your gadgets, this is a really nice screen protector if you can live with the loss of clarity. I liked the feel of it and believe it does a nice job protecting the screen & preventing smudges. Other reviewers noted smudging... I clean my screen regularly, even when I had this on, so perhaps that is why I had better results.

This is a terrible product. The smudge free surface renders the screen unreadable. AVOID! It will save you a trip back to exchange it for a clear screen protector. The clear version is $5 less expensive and actually works. This product will have to be be pulled from production. The return rate must be north of 75%! I was actually astounded that anyone could have allowed a product that performs this poorly to make it to the market. Either it was not tested or this company makes such astonishingly high margins they do not care if the return rate is astronomical. I hope you have gotten a sense of how badly this thing performs.

I bought this anti-glare smudge resistant cover thinking it would be a great choice when using out doors. So far I've been sadly disappointed by it. Haven't really used it out side and smudges don't happen often. However, the picture quality from it makes it look like an old tube tv from the early 90's. I have tried watching movies and given up because the quality is so poor. Text is okay and can be deciphered but not clear and crisp like other screen protectors. When I get enough money I'm going to get a different protector.

I can't believe I did this. Usually I spent some time online before buying anything to read the reviews, features etc. However, yesterday I was at the local BB store purchasing a Galaxy Tab and also found Zagg Shield for Galaxy 10.1. Near to that I found this smudge proof skin for iPad2 and thought it is an interesting product and because its from Zagg I thought I will not regret. No! I was wrong!!! This is the worst product from Zagg I have ever used. I applied this to my iPad2 and boom... the whole display started look like iPhone 3G. It will extensively degrade the display quality of your iPad, please do not buy and stay away from this product.
Interestingly, I found that this product is no more available on Zagg website, and one section of BB website says it is no more available to purchase. At the same time if you look in BB online store it is still available to order. I believe BB should pull this off from its shelves. Anyways 99% of the people who bought it will return it, why you want people to burn their gas and energy to return a product that should no be selling at first place.

Very Difficult to Apply, Lot of Bubbles

This screen protector was VERY difficult to apply.
Kept sticking to my fingers, had to keep applying water to it, kept rolling up. At one point it totally stuck to itself! Turned into a crumpled paper. The more I tried to separate it, the worse it got. I had to have the wrestling match of my life just to untangle it. When it finally went on, it went on crooked, covering the camera lens on my iPad 2, but I had nothing left to give, and there was NO WAY I was going to peel it off and start over.
I would not buy the "sun glare proof" version of this, because it makes the screen look extremely grainy.
The only thing it has going for it is the texture. It seems like a superior material. But good luck getting it on.

After I purchased the IPad2 I was glad to find something that protected the screen as well as helped with all the fingerprints and smudges. I got tired of carrying around a shammy cloth to wipe the screen.
When I first got it put on it seemed smudge proof. But after a couple days it's more smudge resistant. I still think it's better than anything else I've seen though.
It’s way too expensive though. That's why I didn't rate it higher.

I bought this product because I couldn't stand the glare anymore on my ipad2, and it's zagg there products are usually top notch. But after I applied this screen protector I noticed the screen was grainy, I used it for a couple of days hoping that it was just the glue settling but it's still there. I like the feel of the screen protector and I love how there is no glare or smudges but now my iPad is annoying to look at. I usually read reviews before I by products but I was careless. If you have and you like the clarity of it do not buy this product. There are better and cheaper ones out there, just do some homework before you buy.
