Amazing design - Almost perfect execution

Overview - If you want to turn your iPad Air 2 into a mini MacBook Air, and still be able to read one-handed other times then this is the case for you! It does this while preventing the iPad from getting scratched and still holding true to the "air" motif by keeping the total package very light. For my money, this is the best case on the market! I honestly think that the other negative reviewers had the wrong case for their iPad because the upper case (sleeve) that your ipad snaps into fits fine (they may have had an iPad Air 1 case for their Air 2 or viceversa.
NOTE: BestBuy lists this case incorrectly as the Folio Case, but it is actually the Zagg Slim Book.
LIke the other reviewers, I have been anxiously awaiting this case. Zagg's designs with the light up keyboards have typically led the way. However, my need for a keyboard and a true slate reading mode (while still protecting the device) has never been fully satisfied...until now.
The keyboard works perfect, as you would expect, with the added benefit over its competitors of the light-up keyboard, which if you haven't used in a low light condition in bed at night or on a late night flight, is indispensable! Even better, the aluminum chassis is beautiful and literally turns your ipad into a mini Macbook Air.
The upper case (sleeve) that your ipad snaps into fits well and provides protection when you are using the iPad disconnected from the keyboard. When you are ready to reconnect the screen with the keyboard, it is as simple as slipping it into the hinge, and the magnets do the rest. And remember, that you can slip it in with the screen facing the keyboard (laptop mode) or with the screen facing away from the keyboard (video or reading mode). It is so easy and so flexible that you will never need to remove your iPad from this case, unlike other cases, which simply get too heavy for one handed reading.
Finally, if you have used a Zagg light-up keyboard in the past, you may have had multiple colors available, but the Slim Book has limited that selection to only white with no brightness settings. You get one color and one brightness setting, which is more than enough and probably saves weight (although I found myself missing that cool blue color!).
My only other wish list item is that the shell for the iPad had a texture to it for better grip. The Zagg folio has a fake leather texture that was very easy to grip and looked pleasing. This Slim Book has a very smooth texture and is fairly slippery. Having said that, the grips on the bottom of the keyboard work great in laptop mode and grip your lap or your desk that it is sitting on.
Bottom line - This is the best case in the market. Believe me, I have tried them all. I rarely use my laptop anymore and don't go anywhere without my Zagg-enhanced iPad Air 2! Merry Christmas!

Good but fragile

This purchase was initially great. However, as some other reviews noted, the hinges began to tighten and it rapidly got to the point where stress fractures occurred. As a result of the fractures I can't even open the IPAD anymore without the sections separating. The edges are also cracking. I really like the keyboard itself and wish they made this product more sturdy.

This is a great keyboard case and well worth the money. I tried a couple of other keyboard cases but none are as convenient or solid as this ZAGG case. The case is very slim, sturdy and the keyboard is easy to use. The backlit feature really comes in handy. This case makes my iPad seem like a laptop.
I love it!

I'm fully satisfied with the Slim Case. I bout it for my son to replace a previous one. The good thing is that, when you need to use just the iPad alone, you can detach it and use it comfortably. No need to carry the extra weight of a keyboard folded underneath and getting keys pressed accidentally. Backlit keyboard is another plus.

Great idea, poor manufacturing

This is a great idea. From a user point of view, this adds to the functionality of the tablet tenfold (IMO). The addition of the keyboard really turns the tablet into a mini-laptop.
The problem is the thin plastic cover enclosing the iPad. Rectangle pegs in the hinge mate with holes in the plastic cover. When you open the lid, the pegs flex the plastic cover and it breaks. One side broke within a week. The other side broke within a month even when being exceeding careful to force the iPad down into the hinge to reduce pressure on the plastic cover. The addition of metal clips / reinforcement in the plastic cover would have solved this. Seems like a very inexpensive fix. Overall, I like the idea. The implementation left a lot to be desired.

I added the ZAGGfolio to my iPad in December to use at frequent client meetings. The features appear very promising, and they deliver, but not for long... The first thing I noticed is that the aluminum of the keyboard began to etch a line across the iPad screen. I bought a ZAGG screen protector before that could become a big problem. If you do purchase this unit, be SURE to get a screen protector. Then over time, both parts (cover and keyboard) have cracked in multiple places, and the iPad doesn't stay in the hinge when opening. I'm contacting ZAGG for a warranty replacement.

This case was great for the first 11 months. Then, developed a crack in the hinge on the right side when open. Now, the iPad air 2 comes out of the slot every time you open it. Otherwise, I've been happy with this case/keyboard. Easy to type and I love the adjustable viewing angles. However, the hinge broke with just normal wear/tear of everyday use. Kinda disappointed in that for the amount of money we paid. (Paid $129.99 in 4/2015.) I'm hoping Zagg will send a replacement. If the hinge would be improved, I would highly recommend this product.

This is by far the best case I've ever owned, and I've owned many. I can't remember the last time I charged it. Somewhat pricey, but worth it. It's sleek, durable, and light.

Great little keyboard for the iPad Air 2

I have been wanted a keyboard for the iPad Air 2 but didn't want to spend a lot of money on one. During the Christmas holiday, Best Buy had this on sale for $29.99, a hundred dollar off. I have used Zagg products before and I know they make excellent keyboards so without hesitation, I ordered it and had it shipped to my house. Interestingly enough, my local Best Buy carries the extra slim version but not this one. At first, I thought this would be a thick keyboard but it isn't. What I really like about this keyboard is the hard case cover for the iPad. It protects the tablet pretty well. When you attach it to the keyboard, it turns into a mini laptop. The unfortunate thing is it doesn't come with a trackpad but it is not Zagg's fault as trackpad or mouse does not work on iPads. The keyboard looks like a miniature version of a MacBook Air keyboard. The built quality of the keyboard is very good and it pairs easily with the tablet. My only complaint is the combined weight of the iPad and the keyboard is quite heavy. I use the iPad in the kitchen for recipes a lot and the keyboard works well as a tablet stand.
I think for $130 it is too expensive but if you can find it for $30 then it would be a steal.

Zag products are usually pretty good, but not this product. We have two of these folio cases. After a couple of months of careful use, each broke in the same way - on the iPad case half at the edge where the iPad power cord connector plugs in. Very disappointed. Would not recommend to a friend.

This is great product, easy to carry and stay connected. No need to restart main device all the time. No issues at all on last 60-90 days. We started taking out side easily at schools and meetings.

I had high hopes for this keyboard case but was let down. The keyboard is good but the iPad case and hinge is very poor. It is frustrating to open and close. iPad kept popping out of the hinge. Then a week with it I noticed the keyboard started to crack on the bottom at the hinge. Took it back and got a replacement. Thought I would give it a second chance. With in a few days the iPad cover broke. That was it. Had to return it. Hopefully Zagg will get it right on the next model.

I really wanted a case that could function like a laptop and a tablet and I thought I had found it in the Zagg. For the first month it worked and looked amazing. I couldn't have been happier but it was all downhill from there.
I babied this case and my iPad but multiple cracks appeared around the hinges. Flipping the case into tablet use puts too much pressure on the case and the plastic around the hinges fails.
For a product that is nearly $100, this case is terrible. To add insult to injury, I emailed the company weeks ago and I haven't heard back yet. This whole experience has been a huge letdown.

This is my second attempt with this case and both times the magnets in the hinge fell out and let my iPad drop. The hinge gets stiff and cracks the slipcover for the iPad after about three months. It's a horrible case and when my iPad dropped because of the hinge not supporting it the glass broke. Zagg's response: free return shipping on the defective product and a third useless case. No help with my shattered screen and no money back for a useless case.

Limited range of motion & flimsy

Although the literature touts "Four Modes, No Limits" It is limited. When you slip it into the keyboard the bottom of the iPad bottoms out on the keyboard and limits it's backwards motion. The max backward viewing angle isn't bad but I personally would prefer to go further back. When typing and using the iPad's touch screen every time you hit the screen the whole thing wobbles.
To switch to the "Four Modes" You need to remove the keyboard from the keyboard and flip it around in different configurations. It's not like one of those windows 2 in ones like the Lenova Yoga.
Returned mine after about 10 minutes of use.

Cracked in two weeks, returned for refund

This is a good keyboard. At least, the keyboard piece is solid and pairs well with the iPad. Unfortunately the iPad cover which snaps in to the keyboard is not well constructed or designed. It developed one crack with extremely light use within one week. This was not the result of dropping or damaging it. Then when I attempted to remove the iPad from the keyboard portion the case covering the iPad cracked, this was during the second week.. So I'm returning it for a refund.

for years i have been using a macbook, and have been reluctant to purchase an ipad because of the lacking keyboard. I enjoy not only having an off screen keyboard, but also favor the angle at which the device sits on my lap or table. This ZAGG keyboard/case is the perfect solution. It is highly functional and compact- perfect for daily use at home or away!

We bought a Folio Slim keyboard/case for an iPad mini and liked its durable feel and easy to use keyboard. The flexibility offered is top rate. We've used other keyboard/cases before and find this one suits our needs best. If we do have one objections, it is a bit heavier than some others, but a good trade off for the durability.

The concept is great; ability to detach the top from the keyboard. The only problem i see is structural integrity after repeatd opening and closing. Not sure if this will hold up. Otherwise, nice product. I leave my iPad Air 2 in it all the time

I wanted so badly to like this case that I bought it twice! And returned it both times. I thought maybe the first one was just a "dud." Nope, they both were duds! The keyboard half is not bad but the other half is terrible! It doesn't fit properly, like the other reviews have said (it seems like it wants to pop out the case). It is also paper thin, and not in a good way. Just a poor job by Zagg. I had the original Air and bought the Zagg Rugged keyboard case, which was excellent. I was so anxious to get this case when I first read about it. I imagined a slimmer version of the Rugged. Man, was I mistaken.
