    A Truly Unique Experience

This is the third game in the Zero Escape Series, which means it's mainly about following a story driven by player choice. Unlike previous games in the series though, the story here is broken into fragments and the player is often not told when a fragment is occurring. Interspersed throughout certain fragments are escape-the-room puzzles to solve which help to freshen up the rest of the game, which mostly boils down to watching cutscenes and making decisions about what the characters should do in certain situations. The decisions are important though because they can lead to different story fragments. The story will be more meaningful if you've played the previous games in the series, especially Virtue's Last Reward, as this game picks up after the cliffhanger from that game. It does a good job wrapping up the whole story, but I still had some issues with certain aspects of it. All in all though, I enjoyed the game, and I feel it's incredibly unique, even though I think it has its flaws.

Great, but no 999 or VLR

I am a huge fan of the Zero Escape series, and VLR and 999 are some of my favorite ever games. Definite 10/10 for both. This game, as a successor, is pretty dang good. The puzzles are challenging, the characters are fairly great (Q Team gets a little obnoxious sometimes though) and the story is engaging. It all just comes up slightly short compared to the first two games, and nothing is really resolved at the end. Part of me kinda liked that, because I think it was honestly the point, but at the same time I was a bit unsatisfied. Regardless, this is a great experience and I ABSOLUTELY recommend it, but play 999 and VLR first.

    Fine end to a trilogy

First off, good luck getting this off of best buy's website. I was foolish and did not preorder, but I wanted to buy it from best buy since I'm a GCU member. So, I waited and constantly checked BB's website until I finally got lucky. I notice it's sold out again. Zero Time Dilemma is the third part and finale to the Zero Escape trilogy. Like with any multi-part franchise, the final entry will always carry a lot of expectation. Zero Time Dilemma is no exception. It's no Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, but it's also no Terminator 3. It's falls somewhere in the middle, which I think is more than fine considering it's a miracle this game was even made. There are plenty of things that fans have said about this game, and make no mistake that this game is for the fans. If you're one of those people that analyze the series through a magnifying glass, then you might be disappointed as there are several loose ends that were never wrapped up from previous entries. More casual fans will probably appreciate the major plot points being wrapped up and can end the series with a sense of closure. If you played the previous games (Nine Hours, Nine Persons and Nine Doors; and Virtue's Last Reward), and you should play the previous games if you are interested in this one, then there's not a lot that will take you by surprise. The game has an eclectic cast of characters, multiple story paths and is driven by an engrossing storyline. The gameplay are escape rooms which contain puzzles that are fun, but not too challenging. Ultimately, I would not recommend this game as a starting point, but if you played the previous two games, then it's a definite pickup.

English and Japanese voices are included and both are mostly good. I reccomend playing with headphoens or earbuds because the 3DS speakers are awful. Visually, the game is a bit nicer than the previous two with full motion scenes and it didn't mar my experience much to play it on 3DS. There was one particular part that destroyed the framerate, but there wasn't much to see besides smoke. One or two puzzles might also be more difficult because they weren't properly resized for the 3DS screen and you may have to squint to see some vital clues. The puzzles seem to be a step down from before with some being reused in several scenarios and overall being too easy. The plot was also not as satisfying as the previous ones. Overall, the game was okay but disappointing compared to the previous two.

A Good Challenge For The Brain

This is a pretty good game. I don't like the fact that there is no 3D. It's easy to get lost in the overall realm of the story because once you unlock one section, a bunch more unlock and you can go from one group to the other and not know how far along in the story you really are.

Interesting game that will have you on your toes the entire ride. And have you beating it over and over to end up with different results and scenarios. This is one game you don't want to miss.

Disappointing Conclusion to a Great Series

I've been waiting for this game to be released since project bluebird started. It's a mixed bag, and the ending wasn't satisfying. Also, the 3DS version has no 3D and the resolution is horrible. I'm glad I was able to play the last game in the zero escape series, but I recommend getting the Vita or PC version because the bad 3DS graphics detract from the experience.

A complex end to a great trilogy

First off, if you haven't played the previous two games in the series, 999 and Virtue's Last Reward, do so before buying Zero Time Dilemma. This game is a direct sequel and assumes you've played the entire series. Zero Time Dilemma is a complex end to a fantastic trilogy. While I'd like to say I loved the game, I can't help but feel disappointed with how it ended. There are some truly great moments in the game, on par with some of the best scenes in the rest of the trilogy, but there's too many plotholes, dropped plotpoints, one dimensional characters, and inconsistency for me to truly love the game. The gameplay itself is also a mild disappointment, going for a non-linear structure that makes your choices feel significantly less impactful than in previous games. On the same note, the soundtrack is mostly composed of reused or remixes tunes from the first two games. And while those tracks are great, it's still sad to see that the majority of the soundtrack isn't new. Overall, Zero Time Dilemma is better than most other games coming out nowadays, but it's still disappointing to me. If you've played the first two games, give it a shot and form your own opinions.

Great end to the Zero Escape trilogy

I would recommend to play the first two games in the series before playing this game as many key story elements carry over from those games. The story is still mind-blowing as ever and the escape room type gameplay is satisfyingly fun to play.
