great set and works perfectly
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good set of travel adapters and converters. I have an older voltage converter which is a lot heavier and did not have as much wattage rating as the converter from Samsonite. I like the most (if not all) the plugs just connect together so you don't loose them. On a recent trip to India, the corresponding plugs worked flawlessly. If you barely travel, its good for you to have this set on hand and not try to buy it at your destination or worse yet, the airport.

A must have accessory for traveling in Europe
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you ever plan to travel to Europe, you will need an electric plug adapter/converter kit. While most electronics claim they can handle 110-120/220-240 voltage, why risk blowing up your laptop, tablet, or telephone chargers. I addition, the plugs in Europe are not all consistent. We in America think we are the center of the universe. Well in Europe the wall socket is rated at 220-240 volts. that's twice of that in America. We use 220-240 for heavy duty appliances such as your electric stove and water heater. The Europeans use it for everything. It's safer to travel with one of these. It comes with a variety of adapter plugs (to fit those Euro electric sockets) and it will downstep 220/240 to 110/120. As I say, better safe than sorry. And the best thing is: It's cheaper to buy it at Best Buy than trying to buy one at the front desk in Europe.

Essential for travelers
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very happy about this best buy. The adapters included cover GB, IRL, Africa, Asia, AUS, China, EU, Caribbean, NoAmerica, SoAmerica, Middle East. A replacement fuse for the converter is included. You'll need to use the converter to transform the electricity from 220V to the 110V standard in the US. This is ideal for small travel electric appliances such as small irons, hair dryers, or to recharge your cell phone. I was concerned about charging my phone using only the adapter and that was the main reason for buying this kit with the converter included. I'm using it in EU with no problem. Also everything fits into a small pouch included in the package.

Great power convertor through South America
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Third power convertor I bought for travel. First two failed on trips. This one traveled well worked perfectly every time 5 different hotels in Peru and Bolivia. Has the connectors to fit the sockets and did not get hot and overheat with my wife's curling iron or hairdryer like the two other types I had. Rated for 1500 watts and took it like a champ. Best convertor I have had. Reccommemd

Look at package label
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my daughter traveling in France and Senegal. I thought she would be able to charge everything with this but the package says it is NOT for electronics, be careful what you use this for. She uses this for her hair straightener and it works well.

Compact and easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this adapter/converter for a recent trip to China. Much to my surprise I learned while in China they have two different style of outlet plugs (1) two round posts (2) two flat posts at an angle inward with a third flat post with a hole in the post that was shorter in length than the other two flat posts . Fortunately for me this unit I purchased worked just fine with both outlets. I am please with this purchase.

Q: QuestionWhat's the difference between converter and adapter? Do I need both or just converter for my samsung Galaxy S^ edge plus?
Asked by Carrie.
- A:Answer A converter changes the voltage level and an adapter only allows one plug configuration to adapt (fit) another. An adapter is a passive device. It does not change the characteristics of the power; i.e., what goes in goes out. If there is 220 volts on the input, there will be 220 volts on the output. In the USA, the voltage we use is 120VAC at 60Hz. Other parts of the world use other voltages. Europe, for example, uses 220 VAC at 50Hz. Some devices such as iPhone chargers, are designed to use any voltage between 100 and 220 volts at 50 or 60Hz. Some devices have a switch that allows you to use either 120 or 220 volts. If your device is designed to use 120 volts only and you want to use it in Europe, you will need a power converter (transformer) to change the 220 volts from the electrical outlet to 120 volts. If you do not, your 120 volt device will catastrophically fail. In addition, if you are going to power a motor, the power frequency is an important factor. If a motor is designed for 60Hz operation and you apply a 50Hz voltage, the motor's windings could overheat and short out or burn open. However, a motor designed for 50Hz operation will work well at 60Hz. There is one other consideration in choosing a converter; the electrical load it can handle. Some devices have a current rating (Amps) and others have a power rating (Watts) on their labeling. The total current or power rating of the converter must not be exceeded or the power converter will fail. Add up the maximum ratings of all the devices you will connect to the converter at one time and that will tell you the minimum rating of the converter you should buy.

Q: QuestionI have a coffee machine from Turkey which works at 230v. I want to use it in the US so is this the right tool to purchase? Having hard time to understand which converter I should by to make it work efficiently in the US.
Asked by Aeren.
- A:Answer This converter only converts 210/220 to 120 volts. It is a step-down converter and won't work with your coffee maker. You need a step-up converter. This website (http://www.220-electronics.com/voltage-converter-buying-guide.html) has some useful information.

Q: QuestionI’ve Sony Subwoofer with 120V~60Hz and 20W. Electrocity in my country is 220V 50 Hz. As I understood that should be OK to convert a voltage 220V to 120V, but Will it convert 50Hz to 60Hz? Can i use it with my subwoofer?
Asked by Nokki.
- A:Answer Nikki, if you have a step down transformer to change your voltage to 110v. you will be ok with the voltage, but it will not change the Hz. That being said, it should not matter about the Hz. If your item were a clock; however, it would be a problem because your clock would run slower with 50 Hz. than it would with 60 Hz. If you took a clock from your country that ran on 50Hz. and plugged it into a 110 V. with a voltage converter it would run faster with the 60 Hz. than it would with the 50 Hz. You also want to be sure that your voltage converter will cover the wattage of your item.

Q: Questionso since this apparently is not a converter...even tho the name says converter/adapter, can someone tell me what exactly to use for a 10-12000 btu AC. i need to convert a 115v to 220V. The Best Buy rep I s/w suggested I buy this one, which would be wrong
Asked by stacymz.
- A:Answer This item is a converter, however it is not intended to run an air conditioner. The product is meant for small items such as a steam iron and fits outlets in Australia, China, US, Europe and the UK.

Q: QuestionDOES IT WORKS FOR SAMSUNG TV ( 110 V) ? THERE IS 220 V IN MY COUNTRY (GEORGIA). CAN I USE IT AS A CONVERTER 220 TO 110?
Asked by NINA.
- A:Answer The adapter is for use with coffee maker, iron, hair dryer where you heat an element. 220V* 5 amps = 1100 Watts or 110V*10 amps = 1100Watts. You can use upto 10 amps of current with 110V. the frequency is not so much an issue with these appliances. You cannot use for electronics like TV, printer etc....it will work initially but the TV electronics will be damaged over time due to mismatch in frequency. For this you must use a 1 KW or 1 KVA transformer that provides a more cleaner step down and not an adapter. Transforms are bulky and heavy but you can buy one in your country and use it. Again it is not a 100% guarantee but transformers are better than adapters for TV use. As a rule it is not worth taking 110V 60Hz electronics from USA to any part of the world with 220V 60Hz because it wont last long even with the transformer. The same is not true for cellphones, tablets, camera chargers etc because they have the inbuilt tech for handling 50-60Hz and 110-250V. So no adapter or transformer is needed. This technology is not put in TV, printers, DVD players, and desktops sold in USA.
