Don't Purchase/Wear Without Extra Security Clasp

Received the Gear Fit2 when I purchased a S7 Edge a couple of weeks ago. Loved it but noticed that the clasp didn't feel secure. Returned to the store, only to be told that the clasp was fine and fit as it should. Just a few days later and the first time I used it while running, the band came off of my wrist. Didn't feel it come off (it's pretty light) so only noticed post-run when I looked down to check my results. Returned to track to look for the watch, no luck. Returned twice the following day, no luck. Best Buy is aware of the issues with this watch so I am unsure why they aren't alerting customers. Overall it's a great watch and there's a simple fix for the band, sold on Amazon. When I returned to the store and complained about the watch, it should have been exchanged vs assuring me that all was well. Would have saved me time, frustration and I would still own a Gear Fit 2. I was running, an activity that is expected with these types of devices. DO NOT purchase this watch and wear without getting the extra clasp for security. Save yourself the trouble. Best Buy refuses to assist me in this situation so I am hoping to prevent others from going through the same.

    Great fitness tracker, but limited...

    • My Best Buy® Member

After owning this device for about 10 days I decided to return it. Don't get me wrong, it is a very nice device. I like the fitness features, and there are so many exercise choices to choose from. I like that you can add music to the device and listen to your tracks with out having your phone on you. (However it does require Bluetooth headphones) The screen is vivid and I never had to turn the brightness up to 10 even when outdoors. Step counter seemed to work fine (although sometimes I noticed it stopped counting steps randomly through out the day). I really only have 2 major complaints about it. While you can pair this device with any Android smartphone, you are severely limited in the apps/watch faces that show up in the Samsung store. With my Nexus 6P I had only 8 watch faces to choose from. When I paired it with the Samsung S7, there were over 30. Apps were the same way, about 4 showed up in the store for the Nexus, but many more appeared once it was connected to a Samsung phone. Most importantly: (my major reason for returning the device) The band design on this thing is clearly flawed. I cannot tell you how many times the band popped out of place almost causing the device to fall off. Sometimes I noticed when it happened, but other times I just noticed something felt off and looked down to see the device hanging off my wrist. Thankfully the band has a built in loop or this thing would have dropped a ton (and I only wore it for 10 days!). Until Samsung makes an option to replace the band I really cannot recommend this product. This device really is an improvement over the original Gear Fit but the band and limited app/watch face options on non Samsung phones outweighed all the positive things that I liked about this device,

I want to love it? Still trying to love it?

    • My Best Buy® Elite Member

So the features are perfect. Everything that I want. I've been using this for about 2 weeks. I find it to be comfortable during the day (although I hate wearing it at night, so no sleep tracking for me. It seemed to do that well the half a night that I wore it?) I do wish the band had a buckle, but I have not had trouble with it falling off as others have. The challenge I have is with accuracy. So to be fair, it seems that I am frequently carrying something, pushing something or otherwise have my hands occupied while I am walking so there are lots of steps missing. I can't really blame the product for that I guess? Although I feel cheated when it says I haven't taken any steps, but the GPS says I walked a mile and a half. How does THAT work. :P But that's not really the reason for my disappointment. The inaccuracy that bothers me is with the heart monitor. The first week, I was kind of wowed with how accurate I thought it was? But the last few days, when I am working out, the heart rate monitor never gets above 110. So I push harder. And the monitor doesn't go up. Finally I stopped and manually took my pulse and it was over 140bpm. That's too big a discrepancy. And I don't understand why it is different than it was. Also, the GPS tracker seems to be faulty this week. Today it said I only walked. .5 miles. It was the same loop that I did last week but it didn't show on the map and clearly didn't log properly. It was a clear day and I have no understanding as to why it wasn't working properly. Last week it showed on it's mini map and appeared to be quite accurate. The app is adequate, but doesn't sync with any apps on a computer. So while the device will sync nicely with all my android phone, I can't look at the map or the stats on any other device. So that is disappointing. I like the way Fitbit's app functions better. Devices can be synced in your account and you can look at your dashboard on a pc or a tablet or a phone. I also have had difficulty with stair counts being accurate as so others have reported. However it seems to be staircase dependent. My stairs at work do register. My staircase at home doesn't. My home staircase has a landing and a turn so maybe that's why. It's tough. The Gearfit 2 has all of the features I want and no other device seems to. But it's not proving to be useful given the lack of accuracy. I keep looking for an opportunity to upgrade the software as I suspect it might be infant challenges that will be worked out? I'll report back if anything changes, but today I have a hard time recommending this device. And I don't know of another device that does what this is trying to do. If you know of one, please let me know.

After having to return my Basis Peak due to their recall, I did a lot of research on a new watch to replace it. After reading reviews both on this site and on others, I decided to go with the GearFit2, and I couldn't have made a better decision. It is small and lightweight, I sometimes forget I am wearing it. I love the design and the ability to customize the faces and fitness options to your liking. It has the ability to track many types of workouts and even gives you little shoutouts at your chosen interval during a workout to keep your motivated. The heart rate monitor is very accurate, as well as the steps! I use it with my Galaxy Note 5 and it works flawlessly. The only downside I would say is not tracking the actual cycle of sleep you are in, but I can't take away a star just for that. I would absolutely recommend this watch!

More than just an activity tracker

In addition to tracking your steps, heart rate, food/water intake, and sleep quality, you can also answer your phone and check emails and text messages, just like Agent 99. I often have to keep the volume on my phone off and with this fitness watch it vibrates on my wrist, letting me know that I have an incoming message or call. I can also delete emails from the watch, which I think is a great feature. It also knows which exercise your doing and switches automatically when you go from one activity to another. Another feature that I really like is the ability to use Spotify, especially at the gym. I keep the phone on my arm and with wireless headphones I don't have the ear-bud cord getting in the way (this is a great feature for me because I manage to hook the cord on everything I walk by). If I want to skip, replay, change genres, etc., I can do it right from the phone. I have no regrets buying this watch.

    Samsung On A Roll

    • My Best Buy® Elite Member

As the second generation of their fitness bands, Samsung is continuing to bring about great products. First of all the price is amazing! $180? Thank You Samsung. I bought the Gear Fit 2 as soon as the doors open and so far this band has met my expectations with all its features. It feels very good on the wrist with this soft material. The charging is EASY! Magnet and it charges fast. The message previews are very clean and eligible. The "message back" options are great especially with it having emojis ready for a quick response. The internal storage is great. adding music is super easy. Heart rate sensor is fast. Long story short guys, this device is amazing. Feels great, does its job. Especially in the fitness area. I DEFINITELY recommend it.

    Great product 4.5 stars

This is a great fitness tacker. The only one in this price point that has a GPS/device screen that didn't need your phone to view distances, and is slim enough for my small wrist. Other watches with the same features stood out from my wrist, even as tight as I could wear them, you could see light between my arm and the device on the edges. I needed a GPS because when pushing my son in a stroller a pedometer doesn't count steps. I didn't care about the smart watch notifications, but I must admit they have come in handy to catching more texts in a timely manner. I like that feature. I've also banged my arm hard into solid things and the glass is fine. It had the distinct advantage of also not messing up the step count when using power tools, like some pedometers. The only down side so far is that you will miss your step goal if you are only using the GPS and not moving your arms, there's no way to average steps per mile and add them to your goal count. This is annoying to not make goal when you know you did, especially if you're in a community challenge. Another issue is a minimum of watch faces available so far, though that will obviously change the longer the device has been out. Also, if I use the GPS for an hour+ each day then the battery only lasts 2 days. I typically charge it every night, I don't like sleeping in a watch so this isn't really inconvenient, and it's battery is usually at 40-70% depending on my activity for that day.

A Good Smart Watch / Fitness Tracker

    • My Best Buy® Elite Member

A very good smart watch for the price. These are my initial impressions on day one. The display is gorgeous and the curved display makes it comfortable for wearing all day. I had a moto360 sport I like the any light display when the screen is off on that and i felt like it is a far better fitness tracker compared to the gear fit 2, but the 360 sport lacks all the fitness tracking abilities. It is only good for running. Will post the complete review after using it for a few weeks.
