Sirius Prepaid cards can be defective

The SiriusXM gift cards that Best Buy sells are not the typical credit-card plastic cards we’re familiar with—instead they are thin cardboard. I found this detrimental to my attempting to redeem them when pulling off the adhesive tape on the back to reveal the pin number. I purchased six $50 cards that I planned to use to renew my subscription but on two of the cards the adhesive tape pulled the inked paper off the cardboard making much of the pin illegible and irretrievable. I appealed to both Best Buy and Sirius in an effort to replace or redeem the cards but both companies essentially said that the there was nothing they would do and that it was the OTHER company that should be able to resolve the issue. I took the cards (with their complete card numbers) and my receipt to Best Buy customer service but even with that back-up to show they have my money there was nothing they would do to resolve. So Best Buy or Sirius (or somewhere in between) has $100 extra dollars. If you do purchase gift cards be sure that you can read the pin number before paying for them. (Realistically I would give this product zero stars but one is the minimum allowed.)

When the time comes to renew my service these prepaid cards are always my first choice when it comes time to pay. Rather than typing in a credit card number and a host of other information one just has to type the digit number behind the card and your good to go. When calling in to renew it is advised to have the prepaid call added before or right after ending the call. Simply as for an invoice. If the balance is enough to cover the total amount due then no invoice will be generated and neither will a $2 fee be added. Wait too long to add the prepaid card and the invoice will begin to generate and later come in the mail with the added fee. I only deduct one star because there used to be the option of buying these cards for e-mail delivery but those sold out a long time ago and have now been taken out of inventory. Because of this one has to plan ahead to make sure the timing is correct to avoid the invoice fee. As for the service itself I find it is really good especially with the new app and web player update that allows High and Maximum audio quality settings. I'm glad for this because historically SXM has been known for low quality audio and I hope more are aware of this.

When XM came with my new car, I loved the holiday music channels. When the free trial was over and I checked the terms to rejoin, I did not like their policy. In order to pay with a check, Sirius charges an invoice fee. To do it with a credit card, they put you on auto renewal and you must remember to opt out before the price increases. Enter the gift card. I purchased one and then called them in order to take advantage of a special price offer sent in the mail. They manually added my card's value into my account, then applied the discount. Though I am still supposed to "opt out" I know there will be no charge to a credit card if I forget. Great way to give a gift or to work around their auto renewal practice.

Easiest Way To Prevent Sirius/XM From Auto-billing

The cards just make sense to take advantage of the omnipresent special offers by Sirius/XM for programming. Late in the day of or the day after your last day of service (they give you a small grace period), call Sirius/XM and tell them you want the (insert latest offering here that you've discovered by researching the net). When they ask you for billing, tell them you'll be using a prepaid card. (Again, you get about 7 days or so grace period.) Run to your local Best Buy, get the card(s), enter the number(s) in to your account and you're done. No auto-bill at max prices. Just make sure to put a reminder on your calendar on the last day of service for the offer so you remember to do it all over again. Remember, research is key. Search for Sirius or XM offers and use the 'within the last month' option on the search site of your choice. Knowledge is power.

I got a NON ENGLISH SPEAKING PERSON THAT WAS REALLY GETTING ME UPSET .... I explain to her what was going on and I was trying to activate the card on line though the Sirius app I was advised that it a additional fee to use the app. I explained to the lady that the card reads ROCK OUT IN YOUR CAR ,AT HOME,ON THE APP & ONLINE. I was so disappointed this is really really horrible . She told me that I would have to pay extra to use the Internet

I recently purchased the Sirius XM Satellite Tuner which was installed in my vehicle by Best Buy Geek Squad Technicians. Prior to having the unit installed, I had to go to Sirius XM website and setup an account which required my personal information and a credit card to activate the service. Being new to this service and wanting to maintain some control and limitations of charges too my credit card, I purchased a prepaid XM Satellite card and added it on my account and it worked out perfectly. I found that Best Buy is one of a handful of retailers that have the XM Satellite prepaid cards in different denominations for sale and I hope that Best Buy continues to stock this item.

No credit card needed to pay your annual Sirius XM subscription using these prepaid cards. Don't give Sirius your credit card number and get these prepaid card to easily pay for your service. Doing this makes it easier to haggle with them to get your renewal premium much lower than you could if they have your credit card number upon the renewal date because they will automatically charge your credit card unless you cancel your services. If you pay by credit card then you agree to those terms even if you don't realize it. So keep the control of payment in your court with prepaid cards.

Amiright? Amiright? Joking aside, why NOT buy ALL your prepaid type cards here? Why should I ever let accounts like XM just charge my CC when I can buy this at BB and get points! This, is a NO-Brainer. It all adds up to helping me get rewards AND hopefully BB getting a small piece of sales revenue. Doing everything I can to support my favorite retailer. Realizing that might make this sound fake, I can assure you, as a geek, this is the only real world store I still get excited to visit. Lets do every little thing WE can as people that enjoy a good ole electronics store. Plus its not fake, because this is a gift card for Gods sake. WHY are you STILL reading! log off and go buy yer gift cards -NOW! ;)
