Q: Can you talk to someone on the phone with these headphones?
A: It has a microphone which enables you to talk so yes.
Q: Do these work for Xbox one controller for party chat?
A: Yes, you can use these on Xbox for sound and party chat. Just keep in mind that you wont be able to mute the mic unless you take them out or go into a party by yourself. If you dont mind people in game chat hearing everything you say then its all good.
A: You click on it, and it functions like pushing the Siri button. Otherwise, you just talk into it - nothing special - when you answer on your phone screen.
Q: Is the plug L shaped or straight?
A: Straight.
Q: Does it matter which ear they go into?
A: It doesn't matter for phone calls, but if you're listening to music that has a left and right channel (stereo), then you'd want the earbud that is wired to the control box to be in your left ear. It is the left channel for listening to music as intended.
