It's a mixed bag for me.
||Posted .I wanted to give this game a chance despite some of the reviews that are out there. There were both good and bad things about this game. Pros: I ended up getting the bonus edition of the game because it came with the Shadow prequel episode and free DLC costumes for your Sonic avatar. Plus, it comes with the skin decals for your joy-con controllers - which is pretty cool. :) There were two or three levels in the game that I did have fun with. Creating your own Sonic avatar was fun. You unlock more costumes and items for your Avatar for each level you beat. Seeing your avatar interact with Sonic and team was cool, too. Kids will love creating their own avatars. I think the music is alright. There are 2 or 3 interesting songs in there that was fun to listen to. Cons: The game feels kinda unpolished and that the levels are too short and they just end abruptly. Just when you were starting to get into the level, it just suddenly ends. Classic Sonic levels felt the most unpolished. The physics and gameplay of Classic Sonic felt stiff compared to his gameplay in Sonic Generations - which was better. As for Modern Sonic and the Avatar character controls, they also feel a bit stiff, too. There were a lot of automated sections where the game just plays the levels for you. I wouldn't mind the automated sections if there weren't very many of them, but it was never THIS extensive in modern Sonic games. The story was kinda lackluster. Something happens to Sonic at the beginning of the game, but it doesn't last long, and the story just treats the situation as it's no big deal. They could have done so much more with the new villain, but they didn't. Infinite didn't really have a good backstory in the prequel in episode Shadow. When you learn about his backstory, it's really not that great. Plus, you don't know what happens to the villain at the end because the story just doesn't really explain it. If given more time, the story could have been very interesting. Besides Dr. Eggman and the new villain Infinite, you see 4 other returning villains, but you only end up fighting 2 of them. Final Thoughts: Overall, this game had the potential to be a good game, it just wasn't fully realized or polished enough. These flaws were what kept the game from being really great. So, it's pretty much an average or mediocre game. I still got some enjoyment out of it, but at the same time I still felt disappointed with it. Like I said, it's a mixed bag for me. I'll still play the game to unlock more costumes and stuff for my avatar. I'll also replay the levels and do a speedrun of the game. At least that will be kinda fun since there are people who love to do speedruns of video games. If you're a Sonic fan and your curious about it, go ahead and try out the game. If you're unsure, just rent it to see if you will like it or not.

An alright game.
||Posted .This game, albeit short, was quite fun. It gave me enough of a challenge, but not too much. It could've been way better, but it was quite fun for what it was. It had a few issues, such as the level design being weird sometimes, and lots of bugs. A lot of the levels were shorter than they should've been, such as Null Space, which you spend less than 2 minutes in. Overall, however, I thought it was good for the price I got it, which was a sale.

Overall a good game
||Posted .Sonic Forces Bonus Edition for Nintendo Switch is overall a good game and I enjoy playing after a few hours of play. Story seems interesting that involved with some new characters. The game play is very much like the old Sonic games with running and jumping around from beginning to end. Graphic is very nice. Fun feature is that a player can create a personal avatar. I'd recommend this game to everyone whether he/she is a fan or not.

Simple to play
||Posted .Our son really wanted the Sonic game and we bought it for him. It is great for him to play. I remember the original Sonic games and they were a lot more fun and a little harder. It is a great and entertaining game for kids to play, it isnt that hard for him to play, but he gets stuck at places. Overall it is an ok game, prefer the original better.

Sonic tries his best.
||Posted .One of the big criticism with Sonic Team over the last 10-12 years is their fear of letting a good idea cook for too long out of fan backlash. Sonic games haven't always been stellar but they've had a few shining moments; such as Sonic Generations, Colors, and the new fan-created Sonic Mania, which is the best of all of them (and the only one Sonic Team didn't work on...curious). This is a SHORT game. Find it at the cheapest price you possibly can because you will most likely finish it within 2-3 hours. Levels themselves are plentiful in numbers but can sometimes last even up to 45 seconds. Gameplay isn't super polished and the wrestle with the controls is present as is in most Sonic games, but I suppose the key to this that Sonic Team has learned successfully is to not have us spend too much time on them to truly notice how wonky it is. Maybe one day Sonic will be back on top. With this game, he's getting closer, but no cigar.

So fun
||Posted .Sonic has many different iterations and this one follows in the vain of unleashed and generations. Its been compared to guitar hero only pushing the right buttons at the right time. Sliding, dodging, jumping and turning at all the right moments to string together a blisteringly fast S rank is so fun and rewarding.

The Most Average Game I've Ever Played
||Posted .Sonic Forces is decidingly average. I'm a big Sonic fan, and was very excited by the prospects of the game, but I walked away with an experience that made me feel nothing. I wouldn't say it's a bad game, but I wouldn't say it's a good one. If it kept the duo of Modern and Classic Sonic, like in Generations, it would be great, but instead, SEGA has made all your meme dreams come true, and allows you to create an avatar. The avatar levels are not that fun, and there are too many. There are barely any Classic Sonic levels, and there is so much color, and he is so small, that it's hard to keep track of him sometimes. The physics are also not as smooth as Generations. If you're a Sonic fan, or a platformer fan, it's worth getting on sale.

Good Sonic game in a while
||Posted .Sonic Forces offers a lot of fast pace gameplay zooming through levels pretty quick. Gameplay is smooth but could use more story content to make it better. The price tag is great for this game but it may not be for everyone who’s looking to put hours into the story. Overall good purchase for a decent Sonic game.
