Q: What kind of pictures would this lens be great for taking?
A: This lens for its wide angle is perfect for taking panoramic photos. You can also use it for indoors photos where in a small space captures a big scene.
Q: Will it compatible with Sony Alpha 7 iii ?
A: No, this is a crop sensor lens, while it technically works, you'll see a black vignette on the outside due to the difference in size between the sensors.
A: Hi DGalv! The Sony 16mm prime lens is a lot better than the 16-50mm zoom lens in terms of image quality, sharpness, speed, & low light capability. -Anthony
A: Hi JohnK, this is an ideal lens, whether shooting cramped indoor interiors, majestic scenery, detail photography, and group shots. Dave

Q: Is the 16mm good for indoor action shots and video, specifically ice hockey?
A: I would say it depends where you are shooting from. Personally, I would go with a bit of a larger mm and maybe a zoom option.
A: Hi! A prime or fixed lens is always sharper and has better overall image quality than a zoom lens. -Anthony
A: No such thing as silly if you’re learning! Your lens is a zoom, so if you would like to get close to a sunset or tree in the distance, it would be perfect. This lens is lower in mm (16 vs 55) so the lens is going to be more curved. You’ll be able to get a wider shot, but no zoom.

Good pancake lens for Sony ASP-C. Small and compact on a Sony alpha 5 series camera body. Could fit in your pocket with lens on. Decently wide aperture for slight bokeh effect on portraits. Decent in low light. Wide angle shots. Good for street, landscape, real estate and venue photography.

I love my wide angel lens! I've been wanting one since I first started shooting in the '70's, and finally treated myself to this lovely companion to my new Sony A7!
