24-105mm focal length
This versatile, long-range zoom lens covers a broad range, enabling you to capture a perfect image from various distances.
f/4 maximum aperture
Creates sharp, detailed images with shallow depth of field and softly blurred background. Performs best in moderate-to-bright light settings or outdoors on overcast days. Circular nine-blade aperture offers beautiful defocus effect.
0.31x magnification ratio
Ensures your images come out just the way you want.
Optical SteadyShot image stabilization
Helps minimize the blur caused by camera shake and vibration to get clear images.
Advanced Aspherical optical design
Effectively suppress spherical, coma, and distortion aberrations, rendering the subject with high sharpness.
Nano AR coating
Minimizes flare and ghosting by suppressing internal reflections and maintaining clarity even in difficult outdoor lighting conditions.
AF/MF switch on lens barrel
Conveniently enables fast selection between autofocus or manual focus without having to access any menus.
Customizable focus hold button
Locks focus when recomposing and can be assigned to other functions, such as eye AF, AF on, aperture preview, shot result preview, and bright monitoring.
Direct Drive Super Sonic wave motor
Directly drives the lens's focus mechanism without intervening gears for precise, quiet operation that is ideal for movies as well as stills.
Internal focusing
Only the middle groups of the optical system move to achieve focus, so the overall length of the lens does not change when focusing.
Extra-low dispersion glass element
Effectively reduces chromatic aberration and provides high contrast across the entire image.
Dust- and moisture-resistant construction
Enjoy extra protection and reliable operation in challenging environments. Shoot with confidence in light rain or windy conditions.

Love this lens
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I have never spent over a $1000 on a lens until now. As long as I’m already spending the money on a superb camera, Sony a7iii, it didn’t make any sense to buy a mediocre lens for. After some considerable reviews, I decided on this Sony 24-105mm OSS as my first lens with a high probability that it remains as my primary lens down the road. My first impression was that this lens was HUGE. As with any camera lens, I strongly advised purchasing a UV filter. The filter size for lens is 72mm, considerably larger then my old Canon lens filter. It felt like it weighed more than the camera body. The larger the lens, e more photons it can pick up. The better the lens quality, the sharper the image. Together, it makes a superb lens. So far I used this lens to take photos of my daughter soccer games while sitting high up in the bleachers, taking photos of family activities, group photos, everyday street activities, macro shots of dragon flies and flowers. photos taken indoors without flash, and outdoors under various lighting conditions, Photos of my daughter soccer games after cropping to zoom in on the subjects looked surprisingly sharp. I can honestly say that all of the photos I’ve taken so far have been very impressive. I attributed that to the camera and the lens. The OSS Keep the image steady even under low lighting. There are times when taking photos with a flash is prohibited or not optimal, the stabilization feature on this lens is the best I’ve seen so far. Professional reviewers said as much and I can see why. I still rely on my tripod for long exposure shooting. Can’t see myself holding the camera on a subject for when doing long exposure such as that of the night landscape. Do I recommend the lens. The answer is YES, YES, and YES. Is it worth the money? The answer again is a resounding yes. Do I think the lens is expensive? I do. It is definitely not cheap. There are other lens companies such as Tamron that also make good lenses that can potentially be cheaper than this Sony lens. I however chose this over all others because of the overwhelming I read about it. Another thing to consider is that not all lenses are suited for every shooting situations. You have to think about what you primary use it for then pick a lens that best suited for it.

Great all around lens!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I've been using this lens for about a month already and can see why it's so good. It's better than the kit lens by far. The extra 35 in reach vs a 24-70 comes in handy. The quality full open is sharp and clear. I haven't pixel peeped and you'll see how close it is to the GM on YouTube if you look. F4 hasn't stopped me from recording video at night, and it helps to have an A7III that has a high tolerance for noise. As a video lens it's great because it has OSS(Optical steady shot) built in and helps with the shaking. On a gimbal it is fantastic.

As expected, it lives with my expectations
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I’ve been researching about this lens for about 6mo. A good all around lens. Its clarity and performance lives up with my expectations. The split decision when your shooting flowers and suddenly you need a zoom for a bird perch on a twig type of a lens.

Q: QuestionDoes this fit ARiii?
Asked by Michael.
- A:Answer a7Riii, if this is the model you’re talking about it does fit it it.
Answered by Anthony
Q: Questionhow is the performing of this lens in low light conditions?
Asked by Hansser.
- A:Answer With an f/4 this will be more dependent on the low light performance of the camera for high iso vs noise. Lower f/ numbers mean more light and lower iso - lower noise (for big MP sensors this is more important)

Q: QuestionHi, I could see that this one is compatible with my Sony Alpha 5000 (APS-C E-mount camera). However, I could also see this is a full-frame lens. Is this one really fully compatible with APS-C E-mount cameras? And will a crop be applied in that case?
Asked by Petro.
- A:Answer Hi Petro, Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. The lens is fully compatible with the camera. And yes the 1.5x crop will be applied to the focal length. Thank you so much for your question. And thank you for choosing Sony.

Q: QuestionIs this better on a APSC sensor than the 18-105 PZ
Asked by cory.
- A:Answer The PZ is made for the crop sensor while the G series is made for the full frame. APSC is a crop sensor. The G series lens will be a lot more expensive and covers a larger area. It is also a lot heavier than the PZ lens. While I have used crop lens on my full frame, it might be overkill to use it a full frame lens on a APSC camera. You lose a lot of wideness and sensitivity.

Q: QuestionIs this for a sonyA7ii full frame ? I dont want it to be cropped
Asked by phil.
- A:Answer Yes it is for full frame cameras like the A7ii.

Q: Questionhow this lens will work for vide filming
Asked by Jeremi.
