    A Near Miss from Ubisoft

Where to start? The map is massively expansive and beautiful! However, simple things like crop manipulation when driving through fields is non existent. Character customization is cool and just enough to satisfy without a gazillion options for every minuscule detail. An awesome unlock weapon/skill tree mechanic as well as gun smithing makes the characters very personalized. However, instead of being able to add every single skill to your character it might have been more challenging and fun if you were locked to a limited skill set that has its pros and cons to how you play within your team (like an engineer, sniper or medic) versus you being an all in one jack of all trades. But this isn't to say it's bad! Though what is; voice syncing with character's mouth movements in cutscenes are horrendous! That's the one part Ubisoft could have at least got right as it's scripted and prerecorded (think of a foreign film translated)! The largest problem by far that I have with this game is its lack of competitive play. I yearn for the days of GR:AW competitive multiplayer of Elimination and Territory modes. It's almost too easy to add into the game with existing villages/environments around the map. This game is great if you already have friends and who can be serious about tactics because if lacking one or both of those prerequisites then this game isn't much "fun" as you'll fail miserably without communication and the occasional "Leroy Jenkins" moments. Side missions are all repeatable and the exact same each time (enter repetitiveness grind). Side conversation about recent pop culture such as Edward Snowden and others is a cool small touch! However, vehicles are a miss; shoddy helicopter controls, if it's armed with weapons, they're near impossible to accurately fire what you want because a lack of an aiming reticule or first person mode. There are only three helicopter models... a black hawk, AH-1 cobra and an AH-6 Littlebird skinned for each side. All land vehicles handle the exact same, like go karts drifting every corner. Not even a simple mechanic like horns are built in for cars. It takes too long to enter/exit a vehicle by having to hold 'X' instead of a quick tap. Cannot hang off the sides of vehicles. Animals can be killed, however are ghost shells that can be driven through without damage to vehicles, not satisfying in the least to kill them. All in all I feel this game under delivers in what it could have been especially given a delay in its production. Honestly, the longevity of this game is short lived even with the one and only added PvP mode.

Ghost Recon Wildlands relies on atmosphere, customization, technology, creativity, and sheer size to excel over its shortcomings. The game overall is a must for anyone who wants a solid tactical shooter game. The atmosphere is brilliant. The map is huge, but it has a wonderful variety to it. The map you play on has snow, dense jungles, arid environments, mountainous towns, and the list goes on and on. This is good because the variety of environments to this sandbox shooter means you have a very good excuse to customize your characters for each mission at hand to be best suited. The characters, while cut scenes are extremely minimal are lovable with their random chatter while exploring, or during interrogations. Finally, the best thing about this game is creativity. This is a game that you truly have free rain over your tactics. If you want to pluck targets off at distance with a sniper then go for it, if you want to sneak through a town stealthily to snatch a hvt with minimal casualties then go for it, if you want to just lay waste to an enemy camp as loud and proud as possible then you go for it. To have this variety in maps, tactics, and character customization paired with the tech is the real magic of the game. The game does have some shortcomings. Even though the squad members become lovable through comm chatter, the lack of cut-scenes or in depth story is somewhat disappointing. Also being a realism buff is obnoxious at times with this game. For example the gear you start off with on your rifle considering you are SF is extremely minimal. Obviously the reason why is because the game wants you to explore to find new guns and gear; however I find that trying to find various guns and attachments is a bit of a chore. While we are on the topic of exploration, you'll probably be exploring via vehicle or helo. Vehicle controls are wonky, and every vehicles durability is garbage. Overall what the game does right vastly outweighs the area's it falls short. This is still a very fun, and lengthy game. It is also one of the few games that has it's campaign truly enhanced by online play with your friends. As I said earlier, this is a must own game for anyone who wants a solid tactical shooter.

I have been playing ghost recon for about a week about 10 hours a day as I'm just a student going to school and my classes are at night, anyways this game is pretty good, ghost recon has been known to have boring like missions that tend to have a repetitive feel to them. This isn't any different but I know all that when I bought the game, some things I have found is that the game or maybe my system can't keep up with the progress I've made so I'm foeced To restart the whole process over I get stuck between rocks which happens quite a lot, or cars are seen with the road splitting it in half or a sign stuck in my car window as I'm driving Around. Things that shouldn't be happening in a official release game. In the beta when I played it I thought it was awesome and wanted more but now that I've played 50 percent of it so far I'm feeling Less and less like they spent the time creating the gameplay as they did the surroundings. The AI is a joke in single player they're as dumb as bricks. They don't listen very well to commands and I know that I should be playing online but let's face it I don't got the money to do that now so I'm stuck with single player offline. So those were all my cons or annoyances. Another thing about the AI is that they didn't create very many responses or talking points so when they do talk it's the same thing over and over again, the first time it's ok but after he 100th it's a bit annoying. Now the thing I like the most is the background the environments they created are stunning. The variations are amazing, another thing I like is the story line. They did a good job creating a story and a cartel that's believable, and reasons for the characters to do their job and why. So if you like the ghost recon franchise and are ok with repitition I'd get this game but if you don't then don't.

I have recently just started playing the game so please bear that in mind when reading my rating and review. The gameplay is similar to Far Cry 4 but with a different story line that has you as part of a team whose mission is to destroy a drug czar and his cartel. The game can be played with any style like guns-a-blazing or a more stealthier method. Stealth tactics are recommended early in the game whenever possible because you will need upgraded weaponry for tougher enemies. It will take some time to get access to the better weapons so patience is required but will pay off with a better chance of success. The enemies can be very aggressive so it helps to try and thin them out before coming in for the cleanup. There are a lot of missions and items to find which adds to the longevity of the game. Some reviewers complained about the gameplay getting repetitive but a lot of good games are like that. Also, the control of the cars and helicopter isn't too bad once you start using them more. The drone is very easy to control and is great for locating and tagging enemies which your AI squad can take them out for you making things easier if you want. I haven't played the game in multiplayer mode so I can't comment on that. The game world is huge and beautiful to look at. The sound and graphics are excellent. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this game at first but it became nore enjoyable after learning which tactics works best. It is a Ghost Recon game so stealth plays a big part in successful missions. Patience is the name of the game.

This game is most fun when played with other people, preferably friends. Its a great game that you could easily spend 60+ hours playing before you finish. I will agree with other reviews that the missions are repetitive in that you are either tasked to blow up something, take out a cartel target, or "extract" a cartel boss and interrogate them for information. That being said most games are that way; in battlefield 1 its fight your way from point A to point B, or capture said points. Also, the way you go about completing a mission in Ghost Recon Wildlands is completly up to the player: maybe the second time you have to "neutralize" a cartel boss you decide to climb up on a roof top and use your sniper instead of charging in guns blazing, or even call in a mortar strike. When you play with other human players the possibilities are even greater since players can be anywhere in the game map at anytime they want. I have played with friends where two of us parachute in to an enemy base, while another friend was camped on a hillside, overlooking the base with, with a sniper rifle to take out guards as we made our way in quietly. Once we had the target person in custody the forth friend came in with a helicopter and pulled us out, of course it was under fire since the sound of a helicopter altered the base that something was going on....For players who may have read that the game is missing the tactical aspect of previous ghost recon games, i would suggest playing on extreme difficulty and if that doesn't make the game feel more tactical you can turn of each HUD feature separately in order to find the balance that gives you the most challenge.

I remember how awesome the first trailer was... but then when they showed gameplay I was so stunned and disappointed!! The more gameplay videos I would seen the worst the game looked!! It looked nothing like a "Ghost Recon" game and I swore not to touch it. Then the open Beta came out and I was like let me give it a try without any good expectations. I was blown away!!! The game is just AWESOME!!! My Xbox One friends didn't want to try it but when they did they fell in love!! The game isn't like the traditional Ghost Recon style and it does have "a bit" of a Division look but its nothing like the Division (thats a good thing) you can kill an enemy with one headshot haha. It has some of the Ghost Recon things like sync shot, drones and other things that will remind you this is Ghost Recon. In the beta there were some bugs that needs to be ironed out but I'm sure they'll fix it by the time its out or in time. Don't go into this thinking you want to see and play a traditional Ghost game or you might just not like it no matter how good it is... this feels like a different type of animal with the soul of a Ghost Recon game if that makes any sense :)

Review: Ghost Recon: Wildlands is a beautiful open world game set in Bolivia. You and your small team of US ghost operatives are tasked with taking out El Sueno. You do this by assisting the rebels and taking down Buchons until you push him out into the open. The game is very repetitive in its mission structures so it can get boring pretty quickly. There are 21 provinces to explore in this large map with varying environments. The Santa Blanca Drug Cartel has taken over almost everything in Bolivia and are committing horrible crimes. The story is a little bland unless you dig deeper into the world by reading documents, listening to recordings, and exploring mission areas in each province to discover all the unspeakable things the Cartel are doing. You can do all this by yourself or with up to 3 friends in multiplayer. I definitely recommend playing with a group of good friends because it helps to keep the gameplay feel fresh. With continued updates they have improved the game a lot. Such as changing the flight controls for helicopters making them effective in combat now, although the driving could still be improved, and adding a Tier 1 mode. Overall I really enjoyed my time with Ghost Recon: Wildlands and I would recommend it to anyone who loves open world shooters. 4 out of 5 Stars

In Ghost Recon: Wildlands, you assume the role of a spec ops team seeking to rid Bolivia from a drug cartel known as Santa Blanca. It's a 3rd person, over-the-shoulder view sandbox game that borrows many elements from Grand Theft Auto, but with a spec ops theme–think of it that way. You can choose a male or female persona for your special operative, and there's a serviceable amount of appearance customization. In solo play, you'll be joined by 3 AI controlled allies which you can command (they don't always follow orders directly, but they're generally helpful). But the real fun begins when you play with up to 3 friends, which I highly recommend. Dropping in and out of each other's campaigns is simple and swift, as you'll get credit for whatever you do regardless of your own current progress. The only real hiccup is the bevy of glitches that, as of the time of this review, can get pretty annoying. I've encountered the cover system failing, sound glitches, vehicles that explode for no reason, as well as the drone randomly ceasing to function. Most of these glitches require you to log out to the title screen and back in to fix, so they can hinder the experience. Still, I recommend this one for any fan of open-world 3rd person shooters. There's plenty to do and it's great fun with friends, so hopefully the glitches will be ironed-out and will be less of an issue in the future.
