Excellent Samsung phone for those on a budget
Posted .Date of this review: 11-17-2018. I'm the type of guy who goes through phones like snack food, lol. But I actually ran into a major problem when trying to port my number from Cricket to Total Wireless and then with a Total Wireless phone I already have but due to a human error on my part (not total wireless's) I lost my number and my service from when I was on Cricket so I basically panicked and went out and took a chance on the Samsung galaxy J3 Orbit phone. And it's actually been really awesome. Now most people prefer a bigger sized phone and I'm one of those people but unfortunately I didnt have a lot of money so The Orbit phone was what I could afford for the time being. Now in terms of specs? Pretty surprising since on the inside of the box it says "quad core" but in the CPU-Z app it shows a Samsung Exynos 1.35ghz Octa Core 7885 processor for all you tech savvy people out there, 2GB of ram. 16GB of memory (about 9.10-9.20GB left to the user). 5 inch 720p display (looks awesome even though its not AMOLED). Android 8.0. Will it be upgraded to Android 9.0 in the future? Who knows. And as for call quality? Excellent. People hear me loud and crystal clear. No distortion and volume can be very loud. Speaker phone is loud enough but wish it was louder. but call quality is awesome. In my opinion anyways. Also the phone DOES have BOTH 2.4 and 5GHZ Wi-Fi which is AWESOME. the battery is 2600 mAh and I'll be honest, the phone itself runs absolutely awesome no problems at all for me, but the battery isnt the best. If you're the type of user who watches a lot of YouTube, and plays games alot and records alot of videos or on social media a lot, then you're gonna find yourself charging the Orbit a few times in a day at least. But if you're a super light user and you only watch some YouTube videos and only a game or two and make some calls and a text or two and only check social media here and there then the battery will last you plenty. Also there's the 8MP rear cam which takes really good pictures in my opinion. No they wont blow your socks off quality but for the price theyre really good. I love taking pictures so I'm happy. 1080p/30FPS video recording is what you'd expect. Not the best but it gets the job done. Also audio in the video recording isnt the greatest. Not bad by any means buy a bit tinny and almost no bass. I tested out the phones mics and the noise canceling mic on top of the phone doesnt like bass too much. So keep all that in mind if you're going to a concert or whatever. The 5MP front cam also does 1080p/20FPS, but again the quality is about what you'd expect from a budget phone. now for the Instagram or Facebook or snapchat users? The phones cameras will do you just fine. No issues. Now i will say this. If you are the type of person who likes/loves to video chat using Facebook or Google Duo? beware those apps WILL kill the battery FAST. So either have another battery with you or keep the phone on the charger while video chatting. Video chatting with my girlfriend using Google Duo works awesome though. No problems. She heard me very clear and the picture was very good. Now when you go to turn the camera to the rear to show someone something it takes a few seconds which is a bit annoying. But it is what it is. Oh and some will wonder, "can you move apps to the sd card"? Yes and no. For most apps yes but it's going to depend on what the developer does with the app and if they decide to let you move to app to SD card or not. But apps like Best Buy and Target can be moved to sdcard. ANYWAYS wow my review is very long but since theres no actual reviews a nice long one is helpful. Oh and there was a software update when I turned the phone on and it was a security patch that updated the phone to Sept 2018. No other patches have come through yet. Anyways I did a review on this phone on YouTube. Just type in Total Wireless Samsung Galaxy J3 orbit (2018 version) and if you see GTX4790, thats me. Questions or comments let me know on my channel. Sorry for the super long review. Ive had NO issues at all with the phone.

Good phone for a beginner smartphone user
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I bought this phone for my grandmother-in-law. She had been using the same flip phone for the past 7 years and it was still working fine, but apparently Verizon sent her a letter than since they were shutting down the 3G network she'd need to upgrade. We could have got her a 4G flip phone (crazy that they actually make them) or this phone. She has never used a smart phone, not even a computer, in her life. Within 30 minutes of us walking her through it, she is able to confidently answer the phone, make a call, and check her voicemail. As time goes on we will teach her more - texting, notifications, internet - but for now we've basically replicated what she used her flip phone for. The easy mode is a godsend, it helps ensure she only sees what she needs to see - eventually we will be able to add more apps to her easy mode home screen as she learns. The speaker is adequately loud for her, and the display is plenty large for her. We looked at the J7 which has a larger display for not much more money, but we felt this was a good size.

Ipod Touch alternative
||Posted .Wanted a device that would essentially be like an Ipod Touch, but up-to-date and not tied to the Apple ecosystem. The best option seemed to be a prepaid Android phone, left inactivated (WiFi networking only). Among the options available around Christmas 2018, this unit hit a sweet spot of price/performance. Processor and memory are adequate for the games my kiddo likes to play, and the display is actually HD (1280x720, but it beats the 854x480 resolution some competing phones had!).

Neat phone for a reasonable price
||Posted .Husband needed a new phone. We chose this one not wanting to be locked into a plan. He seems to really like it, cool screen graphic, neat ring tone, great pictures and even told him what time he went to bed and wanted to know if he wanted it to take any reminder notes. (Pretty funny wasn't expecting that.) Overall neat phone - so far!

works very well
||Posted .I purchased this to upgrade my TracFone and I am very pleased with it. The camera is a major improvement from the LG and I am enjoying the apps that android 8 have over 4.1. My cell is a Samsung as well so I can switch easily from one to the other.

Awesome phone
||Posted .I bought the Samsung Galaxy j3 orbit because it was new to the galaxy family plus I was reading other reviews about how great it is. I bought 2 of these and I got a great deal for 64.99 a piece. My teenagers love their phones plus the data is super fast.

Surprisingly Excellent
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This phone is an incredible value if you can get it on sale for 60 or less. It works every bit as well as some $250 phones I've had recently. Battery life is very good. I expected lag due to the 2gb of ram, but it functions very smoothly. I think it must be optimized well because it runs a processor made by Samsung themselves. Really no complaints about it at all.

(I should have been able to do this online but TracFone didn't recognize the sim that came with the phone even though it was their sim!!
