Cools excellently with proper installation
Nice and quiet with less vibration due to new compressor design when compared to the older model. This newer model still cools powerfully. The drain hole for the condensation pan has been deleted for efficiency. The 15.98 inch width fit perfectly in my slider window w/o the side curtains. I constructed a blocker in the open space above the ac. Use Gorilla Crystal Clear Repair Tape and insulation foams outside for tight sealing. It’s worth the time and effort. You don’t want bugs and humidity creeping in your house. I got five years of service from the similar manual controlled Whirlpool I purchased here last time at Best Buy. Similarly equipped GE models (Lowes) in my experience are inferior in durability and longevity but will cool just as powerfully. The coils will rust at the bottom in the water tray leading to Freon leaks. I doubt anything available in today’s HVAC market will last like the old days. The pictures are of my old unit after it stopped cooling.
