Alpine uses a carbon composite woofer cone and midrange driver ofr consistency across the speaker's ultra-wide frequency range, plus a special double gathered-edge surround, which helps minimize distortion and promote accuracy. If you're upgrading a factory 3-way component system, Alpine optimizes fit to minimize the need for custom work. Their slim-fit 1" tweeter makes it easier to utilize the factory tweeter locations of more vehicles.
