The Blackmagic Design Streaming Encoder 4K is a professional-grade, self-contained streaming processor for live events, broadcast facilities, remote production, and high-end content creation. It supports H.264 (via RTMP) and H.265 (via SRT) at resolutions up to 2160p60, delivering broadcast-quality Ultra HD streams directly to the world's major platforms without requiring a dedicated encoding computer. At the heart of the unit is a 12G-SDI input with Teranex standards conversion — accept any Ultra HD or HD SDI video and automatically convert it to the desired streaming standard, enabling live production at higher quality than the intended streaming resolution. The 12G-SDI loop output allows multiple encoders to share the same source for redundant or multi-platform streaming. Both the 12G-SDI Out and 4K HDMI Out can be independently configured to output at any supported HD or Ultra HD standard, giving you flexible routing to monitors, switchers, or recording devices regardless of your streaming format. For accessibility and broadcast compliance, CEA-608 and CEA-708 closed caption embedding and source timecode passthrough are supported over RTMP and SRT. The encoder integrates into automated broadcast environments via its REST API, supports Blackmagic Cloud streaming, and pairs natively with the Streaming Decoder 4K for point-to-point remote video links with full tally, talkback, and camera control returned over the internet. The free Blackmagic Streaming Utility software allows remote configuration and firmware updates for multiple units across a network. A compact 1/3 rack width form factor makes it equally at home on a broadcast desk, in a fly pack, or in a permanent installation.
