I bought this Bosch 800 series to replace a high-end KitchenAid. The K/A failed at less than 4 years. The LED panel cracked a month out of warranty, and at about 45mo the main pump died. Local repair guy quoted me $800 to repair, and told me to get a Bosch instead, which is what I did. Pro Tip 1 - go on the Bosch website and request a brochure. It includes a very helpful model number breakdown that you can use to determine what year the dishwasher was released, and if it is a first or second generation for that year. This one was a model year behind and Best Buy had a great price on it! The good: This is a very well-made dishwasher. The door and handle make the other brands feel like toys. It is super quiet when running, although it is slightly louder when it drains. Cleaning quality is amazing. It dries well enough I have not had to use the premium drying feature. The 800 series (mine, at least) has a built in water softener salt dispenser, if you have harder water. Unlike the other brands I have used (Kennmore, LG and KitchenAid) the Bosch is completely enclosed, which I think aids in it being so quiet. It remembers your last cycle, so to just repeat is two buttons (power then start). This is really convenient. You cannot see the top controls when the door is closed, but it projects a red dot on the floor while running. A normal cycle with sanitize and heavy scrub takes 2hrs 43min, so more than an hour faster than the K/A. Did I mention how well it cleans? Everything comes out great, and I am not one to pre-rinse (that's the dishwasher's job, right?). Pro Tip 2 - Bosch (at least this unit) has an in-line regulator on the incoming water supply. This is very good, because it protects the dishwasher from over-pressure. It does mean that your existing water supply line probably will need some reducers or special fittings to mate up with the Bosch, and you're going to need room for it behind the dishwasher (roughly 3" wide x 4" long x 2" thick, if I remember correctly). The bad: Google "how to load a Bosch 800 series" and marvel at the responses. After a few weeks I've figured out the best way for my dishes, but the K/A racks are vastly superior. It's like the Bosch racks were designed by someone who thinks all dishes are plates and they've never seen a bowl. This seems smaller in the interior than previous dishwashers. K/A's top rack was large enough for standard glasses at an angle. The Bosch top rack is too shallow for a serving spoon on its side. That being said, this is what I've learned to do: Top rack = silverware (I actually do not use the silverware basket) and serving stuff. Middle rack = cups, glasses, bowls. Bottom rack = plates and cookware. At the end of the day, because of the poor rack design you sometimes ending up needing to do 2 loads for what you could have fit in one K/A. But since the $1200 K/A didn't even last 4 years I'll tolerate having an extra load from time to time. The ugly: Nothing ugly about this dishwasher. What about Best Buy? It would be wrong of me not to mention the great job the Best Buy installation crew did. They were available to install earlier than estimated. They confirmed an appointment window the day before, and let me know when they were about 15min out. They had the old unit removed and the new one installed in a couple of hours, and that included changing the electric and dealing with the odd size water inlet. I waited until this unit had free installation, and with that and the sale, Best Buy really had a very attractive price.

Super quiet and very effective at cleaning dishes. It has internet connectivity to tell you when rinse aid is needed. We do not use the Salt feature as we have a complete whole home water filter and softener system. The way this washer dries dishes without a heating coil is amazing and it works. The only downside is that our cabinet fitting was so tight I could not install the water leak pan under it as the tolerances were too tight.

This dishwasher is a game-changer! We have hard water, so the onboard softener is key. Even when our main water softener runs out of salt, our dishes come out clean because of this awesome machine. Worth every penny. We ordered site to store and it came in quickly; employees helped load it, and away we went!
