I drop by the local Best Buy every so often to look at the open box items. I stumbled across an open box DB3D and felt compelled to ask for more info. Travis spotted me before I had a chance to go look for help. He’s a very savvy audio engineer BTW who has helped me with B&W components before. There was a bit of a discount compared to a new unit, so when I learned that what little resistance I had caved in. Fortunately I have a great wife who puts up with my occasional splurges on audio perfection. This sub has two 8” woofers on opposing sides. Travis spent several minutes cleaning up the box and grilles, and he found four carpet spikes which are a necessity since the heat sink and cooling is out the bottom. This is not the largest D series sub, but it is substantial. I replaced an ASW 610 with this and noticed an improved, cleaner bass sound, so this significantly added a better floor to the B&W 702 S2 system I have. The sub weighs 25 kg and is sturdy. I downloaded an app to my iPhone. Setup was very easy including balancing the sub to the actual room conditions. This was a quick and easy process, although I had to close the app and reopen it, then everything appeared for the setup. I tested the sub with the Atmos film Hacksaw Ridge. Mid-film there is a naval cannon bombardment to the ridge followed by lots of explosions and gunfire. Oh man, crank it up! I’ve been very happy with B&W audio products. This is an investment, but for its size it’s amazing. It fills a room that is 24 X 17 feet with power to spare.

I've been running a Mirage sub for 10 years.and thought it was great After hooking this up I realized my old set up was merely adequate. It's a whole new ballgame for movies and streaming. I got a discount for open box but realized it worth every penny even at full boat. Chis was very patient in setting up for demo at #448

We’ve had several subwoofers over the years. I’ve heard even more in various demos. This sub has completely changed the sound in our system. The best description is everything has more “weight”.
