The Cisco Meraki MV72-HW is a cloud-managed outdoor varifocal dome security camera engineered for enterprise, commercial, and industrial deployments where reliability and intelligence matter. Built around a 1/3-inch 4MP CMOS sensor, it records at up to 1080p (1920x1080) at 20fps with H.264 encoding and HDR, delivering sharp footage in high-contrast lighting conditions such as building entrances, parking lots, and loading docks. The 3-9mm varifocal lens is physically adjusted on-site during installation, providing a horizontal field of view from 36 to 112 degrees — the equivalent of up to 3x coverage adjustment without swapping hardware. Unlike traditional IP cameras that require a separate Network Video Recorder, the MV72-HW stores footage directly on its 256GB onboard high-endurance SSD, dramatically simplifying installation and reducing infrastructure cost. All camera management, live viewing, motion-triggered alerts, and on-camera analytics are handled through the Cisco Meraki cloud Dashboard, accessible from any browser or the Meraki mobile app. The camera is powered by a single 802.3at PoE+ Ethernet cable (max 23.4W) and also supports optional 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual-band Wi-Fi for deployments where a cable run is not practical. Built-in IR illuminators provide effective night vision to 30m (98ft), with a minimum illumination of 0.01 lux in night mode and automatic day/night IR cut filter switching. The IP67-rated and IK10-rated aluminum housing includes an integrated heater that activates automatically below 32 degrees F, maintaining operation from -40 degrees F to 122 degrees F.
