A: With the Digipower Action Pack you do have to remove the battery door of the Hero 5/6 to use it. However the battery pack is water proof and has a locking seal over the micro usb port. It does not allow for connection to your computer using the micro usb, You have to remove it from the pack to download your media via the usb C if you want corded connection. I keep the battery cover in my wallet just in case I need it, but have not since buying the Digipower. I guess if I mounted it to my head or used a gimbal I would. One nice feature is that unlike my Hero 4 battery pack it actually charges the Gopro when connected so if I want to take it out it is fully charged and I like that it comes with the Gopro mount and normal tripod mount. The battery life is great, I take night lapse photos and it lasts all night and then some. Only thing to remember, if you purchase one is that you have to turn it on with a long press of the power button, a short press just shows you battery lever. I hope this helps, E.
