    Impressive suction

The Dyson v8 Cyclone is a lightweight cordless vacuum that produces a surprising amount of suction that sucks up a lot of dust and dirt from my carpets. When I was using it, I could feel a lot of air blowing out of the vacuum and see it sucking up a lot of dust and dirt from my carpet. The package comes with the following items: The main Dyson v8 Cyclone vacuum itself The extension stick A wall dock Crevice tool Motorbar Cleaner head Charger Quick Installation pamphlet and warranty and safety info. Setup Assembly was very easy. The parts just click easily together. The parts also remove easily when you want to reconfigure the vacuum. In fact, I was very impressed with the ease and precision of unclicking the parts and removing them. This gave a feeling of very good engineering. When using the Dyson v8 Cyclone as a vacuum stick, you click the extension stick into the main unit and then click the Motorbar Cleaner head or crevice tool into the extension stick. When using it as a handheld vacuum, you can click the Motorbar Cleaner head or crevice tool directly into the Dyson v8 Cyclone main unit. The vacuum is very lightweight with simple controls. There is a power button and a speed control button with 3 power modes (Eco, Medium, and MAX). The included swappable battery charges in 4 hours and provides about 60 minutes of usage time (depending on the power mode). Usage Impressions I have used the Dyson v8 Cyclone to vacuum the carpet in my bedroom, upper floor as well as the carpeted stairs. The first thing I noticed is how light it is and the copious amount of air that it was pushing out. This gave me the impression that it has very good suction power and this was reinforced by seeing how much dust it was pulling out of my carpets. The carpet appeared much cleaner after one sweep. Very impressive! I used handheld mode to clean my stairs, and it also did a really great job with it. The Dyson v8 Cyclone felt comfortable during use. I did experience some problems with figuring out how to empty the dust bin. The instructions in the pamphlet were not that clear (it was just pictures with no words). I kept trying to pull on the release lever, but nothing was happening. I had to look at some videos on YouTube showing how to empty and clean the bin. You have to slightly pull on the lever and then pull straight up to release the dust bin. Part of my initial difficulty might have been that the dust bin was very full after the first vacuum and that might have made releasing it a little more difficult. Subsequent attempts were much easier. I like that it comes with a swappable rechargeable battery so that you can buy additional batteries if needed. During my usage, the battery life did seem to last about an hour of vacuuming using Eco mode. I did not really use the higher power modes as Eco mode provided plenty of suction power for me. Summary I think the Dyson v8 Cyclone is a great lightweight cordless vacuum. It’s very comfortable to use and has very strong and impressive suction power. It’s very simple to operate and does a great job on my carpets. The way the parts click and unclick together gives a feeling that it is very well engineered and built Overall, I am super happy with the Dyson v8 Cyclone and can easily recommend it to anyone looking for a high performance, lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner that is comfortable and simple to use.

    The V8!

The V8! Is a powerful “stick” vacuum that is reliable, easy to use, and useful. The Dyson V8 is the premium standard in stick vacuums and I highly recommend that you don’t look anywhere else but here. Unboxing was easy and straightforward. If you ever have used Dyson products before it’s very similar in setup as other products. The V8 uses the same attachment ends so you can use your old tools if you have them. I had a Dyson V6, a V7 still in use for my basement and cars and all the attachments work with this new V8. Snapping in the attachments was easy and I love the big red buttons to release the tools which should make it easy for anyone and at any age. The fit, finish and feel are all here with the Dyson V8. When you grab the handle it’s like grabbing the wheel of an Audi with the performance! Although it’s mostly plastic it very high quality plastic and I love the green on the motor head. Dyson got rid of the trigger to power this vacuum and instead put two push buttons on top to turn on and change suction power. The buttons are physical and not touch sensitive which is a huge plus. I learned to love the button to power on the vacuum and don’t really miss the trigger after all…..Turn it on and go. The 3 suctions modes are nice as the V8 is super powerful in picking up and on higher pile carpet it’s nice to loosen the power to make it easy to vacuum things up. Filters are easy to change with the filter being washable and pops up and the HEPA filter twists to remove and is not washable. Some thoughts: this kit only comes with I want full brush head and a crevice tool which is good to get you started. I highly recommend getting some other tools from Dyson. They have smaller motorized brushes that are great for the couch or steps. Other different types of crevice tools, a wider nozzle for picking up things on the floors. I’m sure there’s other kits with a variety more tools and Dyson always has them available to purchase Dyson‘s customer service is top-notch. I did have a couple things in my wand upon packaging. Dyson immediately fix the issue and thank me for letting them know. If you’re looking for a stick vacuum, I highly recommend you stick with Dyson. If you want that no-frills always have a suction. All you have to do is change the filters. Dyson is your vacuum. My older Dyson vacuums I’ve always been. I’ve always been able to repair them. I typically order the parts right from Dyson and repair the vacuum and they also offer great customer service and repair services.

    A Mini Powerhouse

This is the first Dyson vac I've owned; not the first one I've seen. 3 years ago, I bought one for my daughter's Christmas gift. She's used it every day, and don't think I could pry it out of her hands. No battery problems, I've got two robot vacs that have gone south on me for batter issues after 2 years. Not cheap either - batteries of this type and size typically go for $100+. Right from the start, the Dyson has been a pleasure. A couple of months ago, we got a full size floor vac, and it was an adventure to assemble. Pushing the dust bin in, the wife and I were questioning each other "did you hear a click?", wondering whether we got it right. Not to mention busted fingernails. The Cyclone practically puts itself together with satisfying clicks. Now I'm not going to tell you the Cyclone pushes the same amount of air as a full size floor vac. But the floor vac is also drawing a dozen amps of power from a socket with a motor 3 or 4 times the size of the Dyson. It's about efficiency, the Dyson is engineered to use every bit of power the battery can deliver effectively. There are 3 different power speeds selectable, in a setting such as hard floor or rug, you wouldn't take it off of high unless you were using it in handheld mode on a delicate surface. The motorized rollers can also be disabled if required. Going to handheld mode is also quick and easy - click, click and you're done, and you're off to clean your sofa, dog/cat beds, or lift it over your head to go cobweb hunting. Since it's lightweight and well balanced it's a great tool to get into the corners of ceilings. The wall mount is also well designed and holds and releases the tool easily. If there's one feature I'd like to see, it would be to build the charging unit into the mount instead, so there would only be a plug left to go into the wall. How many devices do you own that either block the rest of the outlet, or take up two or three spaces on your power strip? The Dyson charging block is actually not bad, but it's just a quirk of mine. So, yes, it's more expensive than other stick vacs on the market, but as someone who's thrown 2 or 3 of the stick type vacs in the trash, in the long run, it's in all probability the better buy.

It Sucks! - In a good Way

The Dyson - V8 Cyclone will not disappoint. I have long used Dyson Vacuums because of their quality and durability. The Dyson - V8 Cyclone is a powerful vacuum. Do not let the size or portability deceive your. It does well on carpet and floors. It comes with a floor attachment and a suction nozzle attachment to get into those hard to reach places. Also included is a wall mount bracket and power cord to recharge the battery. The battery lasts a long time. The package says 60 minutes. I recharge after each use and have not vacuumed for a solid 60 minutes but it maintains the power throughout the cleaning. There are suction speed adjustments and you can turn off the rotation of the floor attachment brushes for delicate areas. My last Dyson had a trigger to start the vacuum that you had to hold while using. This one has a switch. At first I didn’t like it but it is growing on me as I get used to it. Dyson backs their products. It comes with a 2 year warranty but I have never had to use a Dyson Warranty. Dysons clean floors the best. Whole they may cost more, they last a long time and you won’t regret purchasing the Dyson - V8 Cyclone.

Overly complicated dirt cup; great battery life.

I've been using Dyson vacuums for a few years now, and I appreciate their power and compact form factor. My previous Dyson was getting a little old, losing suction, and developed a crack in the housing; so I decided to pick this up to replace it. This vacuum is even lighter and more compact than my previous Dyson, but I did notice that it's also noticeably weaker. The dirt cup is much harder to open on this vacuum. It has a complicated mechanism that involves pressing a button, to move a latch, that causes a piece to rise up, and another piece to drop down. If the latch doesn't fully clear, then the door doesn't open on the dirt cup until you give the bottom piece a solid tug to make it fully clear the latch. I found this to be overly complicated and inefficient. Battery life is fairly impressive. I was able to fully vacuum the main floor of my house on a single charge (it should be noted that I have a fairly small house though). The head is compact enough to easily slide under furniture to reach hard to clean areas. The pipe running from the motorized head to the unit itself is sufficiently long to operate the vacuum comfortably. I didn't feel like I had to stoop over to use it. This is an adequate vacuum, but it's a little disappointing for a Dyson.
