About this product

Hardly any biographical information about the composer Martin Christian Schultze has been handed down to us. On the cover of the Trattamento dell'harmonia, which was engraved and published in Paris in 1773, we find his name with the initials InchM. C.Inch and InchD. B.Inch (InchM. C. Schultze D. B.Inch), which according to the RISM signifies InchMartin Christian Schultze from Berlin.Inch The six symphonies contained in this collection may be understood as harmonic treatises. They have been written very much in the Italian style, and in them we find very many polyrhythmic elements running through all the movements - for example, frequent triplets against sixteenths. In addition, at the time Schultze must have had an outstanding gambist by his side who was able to render this extremely demanding gamba part. The violin part with many double stops and virtuosic passages likewise presupposes some talent. By contrast, the flute part more probably would have been written for an amateur. Here these pieces are interpreted by the Klingekunst Ensemble, whose members base their work on well-founded occupation with historical performance practice but also always assign foremost importance to vibrant musical communication. Album Tracks 1. Sinfonia I in D Major-Allegro 2. Sinfonia I in D Major-Largo Andante 3. Sinfonia I in D Major-Allegro 4. Sinfonia II in G Major-Allegro 5. Sinfonia II in G Major-Adagio Con Affecto 6. Sinfonia II in G Major-Allegro Amoroso 7. Sinfonia III in D Major-Largo 8. Sinfonia III in D Major-Allegro 9. Sinfonia III in D Major-Aria Paysana 10. Sinfonia III in D Major-Vivace 11. Sinfonia IV in F Major-Adagio 12. Sinfonia IV in F Major-Allegro Moderato 13. Sinfonia IV in F Major-Largo 14. Sinfonia IV in F Major-Allegro 15. Sinfonia V in G Major-Pastorale Largo 16. Sinfonia V in G Major-Allegro 17. Sinfonia V in G Major-Lar

Ensemble Il Trattenimento Armonico - Sonatae e Variacie - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

On their third CD, the outstanding concertante duo Reinhold Friedrich & Eriko Takezawa bring to life music that has hitherto lain dormant or not yet appeared in a deservedly splendid light. In their new CD production, the two exceptional artists present three new discoveries by Alexander Albrecht, Boris Asafiew and Harold Shapero, which are of the utmost importance for the trumpet-piano repertoire. Also noteworthy are the three important repertoire works, the sonatas by Thorwald Hansen, Jean Hubeau and George Antheil, which shine in completely new splendour here. The works are all set between the end of the Romantic period and the transition to the modern era. One can already speak of a historically important recording, as this is the last CD production in the IncholdInch Hans Rosbaud Studio in Baden-Baden before the building was demolished. This acoustically valuable space was home to the great and greatest composers of our time - from Olivier Messiaen to Jorg Widmann, from Bernd Alois Zimmermann and Karlheinz Stockhausen to Peter Eotvos and Wolfgang Rihm. This album Sonatae e Variacie certainly has the potential to become a milestone in the repertoire for trumpet and piano. Album Tracks 1. Variácie pre Trúbke a Klavír~Thema 2. Ensemble Bonne Corde - Concerti Grossi - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

?Very little is known about António Pereira da Costa (c. 1697-1770), though the exceptional quality of his only surviving compositions - 12 Concerti grossi - earns him pride of place. He held the post of Chapel Master of the Cathedral of Funchal, the highest musical position in the Portuguese island of Madeira. Pereira da Costa's Concerti are the only set of Concerti grossi of Portuguese provenance identified to date. They were largely inspired by Corelli's, but frequently reveal an unmistakable InchIberianInch flavour. These works embody the charm and freshness of a truly exquisite Inchtropical BaroqueInch. Ensemble Bonne Corde presents the first recording of these pieces, which are a milestone in Portuguese eighteenth century instrumental music.
