Regarding a power outage: it reverts to refrigerator mode when power is restored. Frigidaire has specifically stated this behavior for its convertible freezer/refrigerator models: after the unit is reset or power is disconnected, it returns to refrigerator mode, rather than remembering the previous freezer setting.
