A: Convertible means you can use the same range hood for rectangular vents going up or going backwards, or circular vents going up, and finally if none of the vent options are present you can convert it to a ductless mode, and air would just circulate in the kitchen area through fan! GE Profile Hood
Love the modern look of this hood. Was slightly disappointed that it seems louder when operating than I expected.

Buy something else, this hood is terrible.
This is a terrible hood. There is only one fan (many 36 inch hoods have 2 fans). The fan is positioned far from the center, so that it really only pulls from on side. The fan is loud. One of the two lights stopped working within a month of installation. I have a service appt scheduled . . . Fingers crossed.

GE Profile Range Hood in Stainless Steel
I loved the in home consultation and the explanations the Designor gave me as we looked at my existing range hood. However, I am disappointed as only one side of the range hood draws air in. When I put a piece of paper on the screen, one side sucks and holds the paper and the other has no pull at all. I am disappointed and will call for a repair.
