A: Good day, We'll be happy to answer your question! The grease filters are required for use at all times when using the vent. However, the charcoal filters are only required when using recirculating (internal) venting. If venting externally, then only the grease filters are required. Have a wonderful day! Mike@GEA
A: I purchased this hood and it did not include charcoal filters. I purchased charcoal filters separately and they are round. I hope this helps.

Q: How is the sound/fan noise?

A: This model has a centrifugal or dual blower type (often referred to as squirrel cage fan). It will drawer equally on both sides. The CFM rating at MEDIUM fan speed is 250 CFMs. Here's a list of the CFM and sones: 350/6.6 (Boost Speed) 340/5.1 (High Speed) 150/1.0 (Working Speed) Note: The High fan option does not turn off the same way as Low and Med. If you hold High for 2 seconds, it will activate BOOST whereas if you hold Low or Med or 2 seconds it will activate the auto shut off. Joyce@GEAppliances

Good for the price
Good quality for the price. It was an open box purchase which was a great deal. No complaints for what I paid for!! Has a sleek look and operates efficiently.

Love the unit, need 2 more inches though..
I love the look of this hood in my new home. I have 9' Ceilings and the vent cover that came with it was about 2" short. Seems like GE could account for 9' ceilings in thier original packing. I had to purchase an extension kit for 159.00 but over all, It looks Great. The picture i have is before the extension kit came in.

Works great even for Indian food!
I got this for my new house, and my family makes dinner at home almost everyday. This takes out the fumes from all the oil and spices used in Indian food. I have never heard any one say I smell like a particular dish after I got this. It’a a good buy!
