A: I used this Honeywell humidifier almost daily for 2 months (late winter + early spring), and I used tap water which resulted in accumulation of white mineral dust. I also cleaned the unit after each refill. I should have used distilled water, but I was lazy :( I'm not sure if I have hard water in this area (Northern Oregon). This humidifier doesn't use a filter as it is ultrasonic (no fan), not the evaporative kind of humidifier.
