Q: Will this vacuum work well on carpeted areas?

A: It depends on the carpet. Short area rugs, absolutely. Tall, thick, shag carpets, no chance.

Q: Do the wheels on the Insignia scratch hardwood/laminate floors? I've read other handheld vacs do. Thanks - much appreciated.

A: No. I have hardwoods and no scratches although I only use it for light pickups.

Q: Would like to know what type of rechargeable batteries this vacuum uses, & are they easy to replace?

A: It has NiCads. My guess is they will last a year or two, then it gets tossed (can't replace the batteries). You can probably take it apart and DIY the swap, but by that time I'll be ready for a new model.

Q: How long is this vacuum supposed to fully charge for? I just got it and have had it charging for 12 hours and the charging light is still blinking. Thanks!

A: Purchased mine yesterday too and am having the same issue with light blinking after overnight charging. Since it's not just my vac, I'm going to take it on a test drive and see how long she lasts.

A: It doesnt use a bag, there is a filter that you can rinse and dry out if needed but I have had mine for a couple of months and I havent had to do that yet.

A: I have been using this for some time on Hardwood/Laminate floors and the rotating brush does not scratch them.

Gret buy for price
I have only used it on hard surfaces but it works great for everyday maintenance. I have a cat so and it picks up his hair and any extra litter he tracks around. Would highly recommend for anyone that is looking for something to use in a small apartment or even bedroom/living room everyday maintenance. My only complaint is that you have to empty out the vacuum frequently, but its a minor complaint compared to how great the vacuum his for its price and compared to how much other 2 in 1 vacuums are going for.

Great bang for your buck!
This is one of the best, most price-and-function efficient purchases I've ever made. If you're looking for something for quick pick-ups this thing does the job. It's not very powerful so I wouldn't expect it to be a workhorse. It seems to work best with hardwood floors and our thin layered bath and kitchen rugs. The small detaching dust buster is pretty cool and does a good job picking up dust, food, and those things that collect from hard-to-reach corners. I did try and use to the clean up my car and it doesn't perform optimally. The motor is too weak to pick up everything from car's interior but can do a very superficial job. The charging station is neat. Though once used for the day the charging light does seemingly blink all day long. The battery is good enough for quick clean-ups and for full sweeps around our all hardwood floor 900+ sq feet condo. After a few clean-ups about three days to four days in a row the battery started weakening- not too shabby. It's an impressive little vacuum as it seems as if it's not picking anything up with its tiny power but once you peak at the clear compartment, there are all kinds of dust bunnies and gross things spinning around in there! My fiancé was tired of sweeping our all-hardwood place and once I bought this, she can't say enough about how clutch it was for us. Overall, worth the minuscule $30. A simple vaccum for simple cleaning only.

Fine for the price.
This is a good vacuum if you don’t want something in the way and only have a rug or two. It’s small and easy to store, and can do a good job vacuuming a rug. After that you’re going to have to keep cleaning it out or the suction is basically non existent.
