Q: can the video card be upgraded
A: Yes, but only within the limits of the very small 250W power supply. With the stock r5 340 graphics card, the system is already peaking around 195 Watts. So that leaves you with only 55W before the absolute max, which you do not want to push on a tiny stock PSU like this. So you are pretty much limited to a very weak GPU without upgrading the power supply. The PSU is proprietary and has a 10-pin power connection that is not at all compatible with aftermarket power supplies. Even a modular power supply would have to be modified to fit Levovo's unique pin configuration.
Q: Can you upgrade this to 16 GB of RAM?
A: Yes, the maximum RAM this system configuration can support is 32GB DDR4-2400MHz. The system ships with 2 4GB sticks of memory in the two available memory slots.
Q: Will this be good for using Quickbooks? Is AMD Ryzen as good as Intel i5?
A: The Ryzen R5 1400 and the past 2 generation Intel i5 (desktop quad-core) are very comparable in performance. As far as Quickbooks, you would have to be an extremely advanced administrator running remote connections to salespeople with the mobile app to even need more than an i3 or R3.
Q: How many watts are in the power supply?
A: This computer has a 250W power supply with a proprietary 10-pin connection. The only unmodified power supply it can be upgraded with is the one from higher end Ideacentre 720 models. In order to replace mine with an aftermarket EVGA PSU, I had to create a 20-pin to 10-pin adapter from a 20-pin to 14-pin adapter, which has the same peg shapes for the first 10 pins. The pin order is different though, so you cannot just use a 14 pin adapter and saw off 4 pins.
Q: Can this unit be set to run Raid 1 (Mirrored with a 2nd 1TB drive.
A: Not unless you were able to flash a modified bios with that feature unlocked. The motherboard only has 2 SATA slots, so Lenovo doesn't even put the option in the setup, assuming you would never remove your DVD drive. The chipset definitely supports it, but the computer is not designed to.
Q: Can this computer be upgraded to 2 TB?
A: Yes, you can replace the existing hard drive with a compatible replacement.
A: Yes, this Lenovo PC has the standard audio connections for: speakers (green), line in(blue) and a microphone (pink). As long as your keyboard, mouse and printer use USB for the connection, they will work. There are two USB ports on the back side and four USB ports on the front behind the panel door. You may need to connect one of the three to a front USB which would mean that the front panel would then not close. Would have been better to have more USB ports on the back and just a couple on the front. I solved the problem by adding a USB hub, plugging it into one of the back ports and placed it on the top back of the pc case. That gave me more than enough USB connections and I do not have to leave the front panel open, looks better when closed.
Q: Will this computer adequately run dual monitors without distortion, etc.?
A: It is possible, but not ideal. Since this computer has one digital HDMI out and one analog VGA out, the two screens will always look different and be slightly out of sync. It's not horrible by any means, most people who do it for office use hook it up that way accidentally and never notice, even if they also have DVI out. For video or sound editing though, the difference will drive you crazy. Also note that the extra HDMI and VGA out with rubber plugs in them from the motherboard are NOT functional in this system. Those are for systems with integrated graphics, which this PC does not have. It has a dedicated graphics card and only the connections on that will work.
