I’ve been researching gaming laptops for a few months now that fit my price range and I’ve been eyeing this one and finally decided to just give it a shot. Best decision I’ve made. It is perfect for my all my needs. (Gaming, editing, work, streaming) It’s fast, with several different functions that change performance and quality. It never gets hot, the fans can be loud depending on the setting I use. The oled screen is beautiful. I can go on and on. I’m still new to gaming laptops, I have a lot to learn..but I’m glad I went with this one as my 1st.

I recently picked up this 2025 Legion Pro 5 from Best Buy, and I am blown away by the value Lenovo is offering this year. If you are looking for a gaming laptop that balances top-tier build quality with high-end visuals, this is it. Display: The 2.5K OLED screen is the absolute star of the show. Coming from a standard IPS panel, the "true blacks" and vibrant colors make a massive difference in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3. The 165Hz refresh rate keeps everything buttery smooth, and at 500 nits, it’s plenty bright even for daytime use. Performance: Don’t let the "5060" tag fool you—the new RTX 50-series architecture paired with the Ryzen 7 8745HX is a beast. With 32GB of RAM already included, I haven’t run into a single bottleneck. It handles AAA titles on High/Ultra settings with ease, and the 1TB SSD gives me enough room for my core library right out of the box. Thermals & Build: Lenovo’s Coldfront Hyper cooling system is legit. Even during long gaming sessions, the fans stay surprisingly quiet in "Balanced" mode, and the keyboard stays cool to the touch. Speaking of the keyboard, the TrueStrike keys feel great for both typing and gaming. Pros: • Stunning 2.5K OLED display (best in its class). • Comes with 32GB RAM – no need for immediate upgrades. • Excellent cooling and thermal management. • Sleek, professional "Eclipse Black" look that doesn't scream "gamer" too loudly. Cons: • Battery life is typical for a gaming laptop (get used to the charger for heavy tasks). • The black finish picks up fingerprints easily, so keep a microfiber cloth handy!

The Lenovo Legion 5 is a strong starter laptop for anyone getting into gaming, graphic design, or even heavier creative work like 3D modeling and rendering. Performance-wise, it definitely delivers. I’ve seen noticeable improvements in render speeds compared to my previous machine, and the processor handles demanding tasks pretty smoothly. That said, battery life is probably the biggest downside. If you’re planning to work unplugged for long stretches, this may not be the best choice. During intensive 3D modeling and rendering sessions, I average around 45 minutes on battery, which is typical for performance laptops but still something to keep in mind. The cooling system works well, but the fans can get pretty loud under heavy workloads. The RGB lighting is a nice aesthetic touch, especially for gaming setups, though it does contribute to additional battery drain. Overall, if performance matters more than portability or battery life, the Legion 5 is a solid choice. It’s powerful, reliable for creative work and gaming, and a great option as long as the shorter battery life and louder fans aren’t deal breakers.
