The Good - Solid, weighty construction - Shine-through PBT double-shot keycaps with excellent RGB LED backlighting- little worry that the keycaps will get shiny like ABS which is so common on Logitech keyboards. Very good to see this change. - Beautiful looking keyboard, always a fan of the frameless/floating design - Configurable lighting behavior as keyboard transitions to sleep - Seamless wake from sleep- no loss of typed characters - User-serviceable battery The Not So Good - The typing experience is okay, but not at all premium as the price would suggest. The switches feel a bit spongy and activation force seems to be on the high side. Stabs are nice though. Switches are not hot swappable, which is almost expected at this price point. - In an odd twist, the legends on the black keycaps are nearly impossible to see without the backlighting. This is a reversal from typical Logitech keyboards with white keycaps that are impossible to see with the backlighting on. For the G515, I think the white version is probably better in this regard. - Unlike almost every other mechanical keyboard on the market, the G515 has no way to change the LED lighting effects without using the GHub software. The default preset is a breathing effect with WASD lit in contrasting colors. Why can’t the G515 cycle through some backlighting presets using a FN + [key] combo? - No switch or FN key combo to switch to a Mac friendly layer/mapping - GHub, SMH. Firstly, where are the instructions on how to use this software? The pamphlet in the box is superficial. The help in GHub is superficial (and severely lacking), Their website is equally superficial. GHub is all style over substance.

Good but limited. It's a decent keyboard. Key presses are nice. The keys themselves have some texture to them rather than the smooth keys typical of Logitech. The downside is that while it can connect over a wire, their wireless lightspeed dongle or via Bluetooth, it can only connect to ONE system via any of those three options. As long as the cable is connected, the wireless is disabled. Even though there's a button to connect to wireless, it doesn't function with a cable plugged in. So unlike some of Logitech's products that can swap between three different endpoints over these connection methods, the G515 cannot do this unless you unplug the cable each time you want to swap. I confirmed this with their tech support. As this was the primary reason I purchased the keyboard, I'm returning it. If you are planning on just using this on one single system I think it is a good option given the size and price point.

You must have Logitech software to change anything on this board. I have used Ghub in the past on a mouse and while it can be ignored in the background, it's still problematic often not loading or sometimes not connecting at all. Typical software garbage. But what makes it so bad on the keyboard is that Logitech in it's infinite wisdom decided to opt out of physical button changes for simple stuff like changing lighting. Most keyboards in this price range use VIA (and come with the physical button scroll of various lighting degrees and effects) and are hot swappable too. Logitech is neither. Don't waste your money on Logitech products. They are not built to last, or even with the consumer in mind. They are built to cater to a market using the minimum they have to so their shareholder profits can be greater.
