Logitech - USB Unifying Receiver works great!

I purchased the Logitech USB Unifying Receiver to go with a Logitech MK850 Keyboard & Mouse combo I have. I wanted to use the same keyboard & mouse on two different P.C.’s The set-up was a snap and the Logitech MK850 Keyboard & Mouse combo worked right out of the box, no issues with the USB Unifying Receiver that came with the MK850 keyboard. The keyboard & mouse have corresponding numbers on them to indicate which device is active, so you would think it would be “brain dead dumb” to set-up the second P.C. & USB Unifying Receiver, right? Not quite! Here’s where the only issue I have with this USB Unifying Receiver & the Logitech MK850 Keyboard & Mouse combo comes up. First the software has to be installed on both P.C.’s for the Logitech MK850 before you can set the Keyboard & Mouse combo to the number you want for the second device, no big deal (the keyboard & mouse default to number one) After turning on the second P.C., the mouse worked correctly, but the keyboard was another story. The software instructions tell you to turn off the mouse and then turn it back on to assign it the corresponding number (1,2 or 3) No problem, these are on the mouse & keyboard. That worked fine, the keyboard doesn’t have an on/off switch, so you have to remove one of the batteries! Then put it back in, and then assign it the number you want it to be. The instructions make no mention of this! Once I got everything set-up, I've had no issues! After having & using the Logitech USB Unifying Receiver in conjunction with the Logitech MK850 Performance Full-size Wireless Optical Keyboard and Mouse combo for a month, I have to say I love this set-up. I highly recommend this Logitech USB Unifying Receiver. It works like a champ!

    A must have

Once you get the software on your computer and teach the dongle the device you want to use, the dongle memorizes it and you can then use it wherever you want without needing software on whatever device you use it with. Very happy with this purchase

    Great product

This is a great product if you want to connect many mice or keyboards to your system. But you have yo make sure that you mice or keyboards have a logo on them that enable them to connect to it.

Questions & Answers
  • Is this compatible with the M317c mouse?

You can look at the bottom of the mouse to see if the unifying symbol is there. Or remove the battery cover and it should say unifying. This is not you mouse but it does give you an idea of what to look for.

  • This conector is compatibility with MK470 combo?

As it is not unifying you can run into a big problem if you lose the USB receiver (dongle). It happened to me and it took months until I was able to find a solution, neither the logitech page or blogs supported me, I found the solution in the comments of a youtube video. The solution was to buy a cheaper M185 mouse that uses the same USB receiver that we need. Once we have the dongle we use the Logitech Options or Connect Utility app of the brand, to synchronize it you have to remove a battery from the keyboard and turn off the mouse first. When it asks us to turn on the devices, we turn on the mouse and put the battery simultaneously. If we use Logitech Options, only the keyboard is added first and we give the option to add devices and add the mouse.

  • I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and lost the USB that connects it to my laptop. Will this replace the USB that I lost?

If the bottom of your mouse and keyboard have the orange unifying insignia like is shown in the picture of this unifying receiver then it should work. Logitech has easy to use software available on their site that will allow you to pair your current mouse/keyboard with this receiver
