Features
The MartinLogan Sound
Regardless of the environment, our speakers sound better, more articulate, detailed and realistic. With Controlled Dispersion and one of the clearest tweeters in the industry, our architectural models can complete with and often exceed the performance of traditional speakers.
Controlled Dispersion
Room acoustics are extremely important. Everything in the listening room has an impact on the sound of your speakers, so we try to minimize the harmful effects by focusing the sound directly on your ears. This increases clarity, and detail regardless of the rooms design.
Performance Meets Aesthetics
While there are many choices of CI speakers out there, MartinLogan stands out for bringing unique, high-performance technologies together in a package that perfectly blends discrete sound with noticeable quality. Performance and Aesthetics, both without compromise.
Folded Motion Tweeter
This miracle of audio engineering gives high efficiency and low distortion a new benchmark. Our signature Folded Motion Tweeter uses an extremely lightweight diaphragm, in a space saving “folded” design, to deliver incredible detail, speed, and accuracy in a small space.
Fiberglass Woofers
All Motion CI speakers feature lightweight woven fiberglass cones specifically engineered for their application to blend seamlessly with the lightning speed of our signature Folded Motion Tweeter.
Built-In Enclosure
The MC4 has a sealed enclosure integrated into its design, which helps contain the sound coming off the back of the speaker to dramatically reduce unwanted sound that can travel through the floor and up into the living space above the speaker.

By far the most popular size for in-ceiling speakers, the MC6 features a 6.5” woofer with higher power handling, greater output capability, and improved bass response over the smaller MC4. This model works without a built-in enclosure to allow the speaker to use more airspace for higher performance. For applications where sound control is desired, an optional retrofittable back enclosure is available separately. As with all Motion series CI speakers, the MC6 uses MartinLogan’s signature Folded Motion Tweeter for precise clarity and incredible realism to meet all your entertainment needs. Let high-fidelity sound rain down with this MartinLogan 3.5-inch in-ceiling speaker. A 3.5-inch mineral-filled poly cone woofer produces impressively detailed bass, while a 0.75-inch titanium dome tweeter delivers gorgeous high-frequency tones. This MartinLogan 3.5-inch in-ceiling speaker is easy to install and includes a micro-perforated grille that can be painted over to blend in with existing decor.
One of the benefits of in-ceiling speakers is how easily they disappear into a room. Unfortunately, the sound coming from the back of the speaker doesn’t disappear and can distract those in the rooms above the speakers. MartinLogan offers back boxes, or enclosures, for Motion CI In-ceiling speakers. For these situations where sound control is desired, these retrofittable back boxes are the perfect solution. They offer 20dB of noise reduction into adjacent areas and offer the perfect solution to achieve consistent performance where ceiling cavity sizes may vary throughout an installation. Please note that the volume of air in the retrofit enclosure is smaller than that of your ceiling, and bass extension will be reduced. If sound control is not necessary for your unique installation, we recommend not using the back box so the speaker can take advantage of the larger airspace in your ceiling cavity.
